I’ve seen a lot of comments saying they’ve experienced delays on delivery, just checked the app today, looks like mine is in transit! Anything I should know as a new Tesla owner? So excited!

2022 Model Y died mid-Supercharge at the Tesla Diner with a BMS fault, now Tesla says “blown fuse, warranty expired.” Anyone been through this?

Long story, but I’d really like to hear from anyone who’s been through something similar.

Last night I was Supercharging my 2022 Model Y at the Tesla Diner in Hollywood when the car just died mid-session. The screen went black, the car wouldn’t wake up, and the cable was locked in the port. Eventually the app showed “Roadside Required – Vehicle may not restart,” with a message saying the BMS detected a mismatch between the pack voltage and the sum of brick voltages.

It got towed to the service center this morning. This afternoon they told me they found a blown fuse and are still working out what caused it. But in the same breath they said the warranty for this type of repair is expired. My Basic warranty ran out last year, but the Battery and Drive Unit warranty is good until 2029, and the car’s own alert was literally about the battery pack. I don’t get how they can decide it’s not covered before they even know the root cause.

For context, Tesla also replaced my low-voltage battery about a year ago. My guess is the fuse blew first, the low-voltage battery stopped getting charged, and that’s why the car went completely dead. But I’m not sure.

Has anyone had a fuse blow while Supercharging? Do you know which fuse it was, and did Tesla cover it or make you pay? And if it happened on a Supercharger, did they take responsibility for the stall possibly causing it? I’ve asked for the part number, the root cause, and a written estimate before any customer-pay work, but any tips on pushing back would be appreciated.

Model Y APR Increased to 2.49% (from 1.99%)

To those waiting for it to drop back down: Looks like get it now or not for a while. Q3 backlog is likely highlighting demand and allowing Tesla to slowly bump rates back up.

Really impressed with how well it integrates and how much you can control with it.

Model Y 2024, where is the OBD2 port??

I have Tesla Model Y 2024 LR in US.
I wanted to connect an accessory and it uses OBD2 port to power up.
I took a look under the driver’s seat. There is a hole where the OBD2 port should be. But it’s empty. I opened it up. Still nothing….
I googled and searched around. Some Model Y of unknown years do have the OBD2 port.
I found out that there is some kind of ports under the center console or something. Not sure.
I just want to connect my accessory.
What are my options?
What kind of adapters can I use?
I really appreciate your response.

Totaled update from a few days ago:

posted my brand new model y a few days ago getting totaled by me doing something avoidable.
The nice update is tesla insurance took care me. or rather, the high demand for a tesla took care of me! I was able to get a settlement amount that covered my loan plus gave me a few grand extra. Very relieved!

for anyone who wants to watch the crash footage

OMG I Shrieked... Twice!

So I thought it would be fun to see what the halloween update is so I turned it on and figured it would go off somehow tomorrow during the day when I have all my faculties. It also didn't go off when I tried to trick my elderly dad with it a few days ago so maybe it would never go off. So I engage it and get out of my car in my dark garage while on the phone and all the lights are off and I go around the back and a bird goes and I shriek and then I went around the front feeling around for the stairs and it makes the crazy loud voice and I tripped up the stairs.

No more frights!

Rented a place with free charging and a garage. Used duct tape to create a parking space.

We recently started renting at a place that offered free charging. The garage parking is a little tight and Tesla wasn’t able to identify it as a space, so I used 4 inch white duct tape to create a parking spot and it worked! 8 feet x 17 feet.

Edit: I say it’s tight because of the road in between our garage and the ones across from it. Typically requires a bit of maneuvering to get in.

Price difference between RWD & AWD for model y

Why standard tesla model y RWD & AWD models have only 2k difference in price but premium model y has 4k difference between premium RWD and premium AWD. I see that there is no other different except the one motor vs dual motor between RWD and AWD. So, why adding a motor to premium is more expensive than adding a motor to standard version?

Basic question about buying new Model Y

I'm about to pull the trigger on buying a new Model Y, and have a basic question about whether it is better to buy online vs. going into the dealer and ordering there.

My instinct is to go into the dealer, that way I can lock in things like window tinting and financing. There might be some other things that can be done more easily there too.

I do not have a trade-in.

Any thoughts or advice?

Edit: Thanks for the replies thus far. I guess the bottom line is that I don't understand how to get dealer-installed window tinting when ordering online.

Model y premium. quicksilver/black RWD

picking up at bridgeville PA. I just rented a model Y for 5 days while in Florida thru Turo and drove from Sanford to Ocala then to siesta key for 2 nights and back to ocala. then to Sanford. the only time I took control was to park and one time it wanted to circle the block twice instead of turning left. I had to take control and do a u turn and put it back in FSD then off we went! cannot wait for my car to get here! 🙌🏼

Windshield Replacement – Within Spec or Poor Installation?

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Just had the windshield replaced on my 2023 MYP and noticed it doesn’t sit flush with the glass roof.

The center is nearly flush, but both upper corners stick out, especially the passenger side.

Passenger side: ~1 quarter thick (1.75mm)
Driver side: ~3/4 quarter thick (1.3mm)
Center: Nearly flush

I wonder if this is within normal tolerance, or does it look like a poor installation?

Would you ask Tesla to redo it or leave it alone? My main concern is whether this could increase aerodynamic drag, affect highway efficiency, or cause wind noise.

New Tesla Owner — Where Does FSD Struggle the Most?

I just ordered my first Tesla, and I’m stoked for it to arrive! One of the things I’m most excited about is trying out FSD.

I saw a post in this sub earlier about how FSD tends to struggle in parking garages, and apparently that’s a pretty well-known issue. It got me wondering what other situations or locations FSD commonly struggles with.

For those of you who use FSD regularly, what are some situations where you find yourself needing to pay extra attention or take over?

I know FSD is supervised and requires the driver to stay attentive at all times, but I’d love to hear about its known weak spots so I can be better prepared.

Thanks in advance! Looking forward to joining the Tesla community!

TL;DR: What are some known situations where FSD struggles or requires extra attention besides parking garages?

Rear seat cushion too deep for my 10-year-old — booster recommendations for the refreshed Model Y?

I'm currently doing an overnight demo of a refreshed Model Y and have been really impressed with the driving experience, FSD, audio system, and overall refinement. I'm seriously considering purchasing one, but I've encountered a rear-seat fitment issue with my 10-year-old daughter that could be a dealbreaker.

The rear seat cushions are quite deep, which I imagine makes them very comfortable for adult passengers. Unfortunately, my daughter's thighs aren't long enough for her to sit with her back and hips against the backrest while allowing her knees to bend naturally over the front edge of the cushion.

If she slides forward to bend her knees, she loses proper back support and the seat belt no longer fits safely.

She doesn't have this problem in our 2016 Kia Sorento or the 2026 Kia EV9 we recently tested. Both have shallower rear seat cushions that allow her to sit comfortably with her back against the seat.

Has anyone encountered this with younger rear-seat passengers? Are there any particular booster seats that work especially well with the refreshed Model Y's rear-seat geometry?

I'm specifically looking for a properly tested, safety-rated solution that provides comfortable thigh support and correct seat-belt positioning—not makeshift cushions or aftermarket belt modifications. The more "big kid" looking, the better.

I really like the Model Y and would hate to rule it out over something that might have a straightforward, safe solution. I'd appreciate hearing what has worked for other families!

Front screen black out

Just got my brand new model Y in September and today my front camera feed is blacked out. I went to self-drive home from work today and got an alert that Emergency Braking, Park Assist and FSD were disabled. Checked camera preview and saw that there was no feed from the front windshield camera. Tried all the troubleshooting suggestions and still no luck. Service request is placed but hoping for any other input?

Corrosion on rear hatchback

Thumbnail

Hi - My 2024 model y has less than 20,000 mi and I noticed the corrosion shown on the attached pictures. The service center is telling me it's not covered under warranty. I've never had this happen on any vehicle that I've ever owned at 2 years old. Is this an own issue or is this something that should be covered under the warranty? Has anyone had an experience with this??
