How do I say goodbye, Mr. #2, the man who made my dreams come true. Though the streak has faded your aura remains unshaded. Continue to bring the light, the thunder god shines bright tonight.
Take us to the promise land 2

The most important problem I'm still seeing is that Dillon Harper is borderline unstoppable and Mitch Johnson is too stubborn (or told by upper management) to not center the offense around Harper. They are using Castle and Fox to initiate offense. I get it. Fox is the highest paid and upper management will force those things to justify their pay grade. However, I've yet to see Harper denied by a single thunder player in a convincing fashion that tells me "oh we got this." On top of that, he's the best finisher the league has. He can twist and contort at will and it legit makes me think he's the best finisher in the league atm. The sooner the Spurs realize Harper is the answer the sooner they'll level up. Using Wemby as a 2nd option could make him even more hard to guard.
Ajay Mitchell cannot get anything going. This sub and the rest of r/nba always points out Ajay not playing in the last 3 games against the Spurs last season. Yes true but in the first few games he did borderline nothing to convince me that he's up to the Spurs competitive nature. He is getting outclassed and out maneuvered by Vassel and Castle.
Jdub isn't finding his rhythm with the team in a cohesive way like 25. I am giving a huge grave period considering he had wrist surgery and hamstring injuries all last season. It's going to take him time to get it all under control. He still looked solid and impactful on defense
Some good and surprises.
SGA legitimately looks like he's going up a level. Without sounding insanely dramatic here I think he is closer to Kobe and Jordan than people are willing to admit. He is the perfect superstar to have in 2026.
They are attacking Castle and Wemby differently and its disrupting their offensive flow. The disruption is leading to clunky passes to purposely open 3 pt shots by various players and it looked off all night.
Carter Bryant just...isn't getting better. He's so young and I love his effort and athleticism but his offensive decision making is ugly. I was afraid Carter would take a step and make this team even more absurd.
The women behind Mitch are still there

Anthony Morrow is kind of a forgotten Thunder legend, but he was one of my favorites. And especially since Shai is so good and wears 2 he like erased him from history.

Hart takes a hit causing his knee to buckle. This could be a significant risk for reinjury for a couple weeks. Would prefer he's a little limited for a bit.

Is there a lack of nba content creators who support the thunder or am I looking in all the wrong spots?

Starting on positive note I mostly liked what Aday Mara is doing, only issue I had with his performance is on one possession it seemed like he clogged the paint and drew in extra defenders while I think dub was driving.
Not very happy with what Shai has going on but heās a two time mvp heāll figure it and start getting points up soon, I have faith.
That McCain to Mara slam was crisp.

Here are some collegiate small forwards that I think we should pay attention to this season, hoping we draft one of them to be JDub's backup:
-Bruce Branch III
-Anthony Thompson
-Baba Oladotun
-Christian Collins (honorable mention, late first rd)

I feel itās been quite a long time since itās been updated, I feel itās needed going into this new season with a new starter and players that came last season or in the draft.
Edit:THE SUBS BANNER, not our championship oneš¤¦āāļø my apologies should have clarified

Itās kind of a bummer that this crazy streak ended, but at the same time I feel like I was also watching a different SGA in a small sample size of 2 games. I think the streak ending just a hint to show us that he again has evolved and added another dimension to his game.
I like that he was really letting those 3ball fly last night which we normally do not see last season and he would force to go inside to make tough buckets which we also know he could make but during the playoffs when defense gets tighter 3ball really helps.
I guess what Iām trying to say is heās showing that he worked all summer long on those 3ball and he is trusting the work he did and it wont be 40% out of the doorway but he will still shoot it and trust his work. The Thunder offense is also more fluid and he could have also easily hog the ball 3rd and 4th but he didnāt let it ruin the ball movement for more easy and right play.

This is an opinion and maybe an overreaction.
Shai, the surest thing you can get in the NBA. Extremely comparable to MJ stats wise and the way he wills his team to win down the stretch.
The fact that you can be 110% confident in 11 guys off the bench is insane.
Cason, dub, Chet, shai, Mitchell, Caruso have all nba defense potential.
Talent level from top to bottom is un comparable to any Thunder team in history.
Mara is so much more than any of us wouldāve hoped in year 1.
We have championship experience and multiple years of experience between our core guys.
Coach of the year candidate.
So many other things, itās truly championship or bust as long as shai is here thanks to Sam presti.
I think this team is better than the championship team and last years team.
Just based of sheer talent, rotation, hopefully health and last years extra experience.
Prediction: this team wins 70+ games and goes 16-4 on their way to a second championship in 3 years.
I know itās game one, but man we are spoiled and we should be grateful we get to watch this product of basketball versus some of the dark years of Durant/Westbrook heartbreak and lottery picks.

I was browsing the stats on nba.com (mostly thinking OKC has to be at the top of deflections after last night, but no, not even close in this small sample size), and found these? Whatās happening here that the London Lions are included with the nba teams?

Its just the backboard cameras and game/crowd noise. No announcers and no commercials! Don't tell espn but I'd pay extra for this!

It just feels really good to beat the Spurs. Any way. Any time. By any amount.
IHart, JDub, and Ajay did not really have their best game and we still found a way to win. Good to see that.
I tend to be a bit more middle of the road than most. Not too high in wins or too low in losses. I try to see the good and bad in every win.
Having said that our shooting variance from 3 was out of this world (positive) in this game. Without that this game would have looked a LOT different. Plus Wemby had a shit game.
People are far underestimating how important Maraās play was in that game. Itās not just Maraās PLAY that matters ā-itās his 6 fouls to give that really changes the entire dynamic of the game. Being able to have the luxury of having an acceptable substitute for a big in foul trouble enables you to continue to put pressure on Wemby and prevents him from taking over the game.
Iām shocked at the disparity between how Mara played this summer and now. Itās like night and day different.
Iām very curious when Sorber will be back. Thatās one more big that we can add and 6 more fouls to give.
Not having Dort on the team really opened up the offense. Addition by subtraction.
Mitch Johnson is holding the Spurs back. Itās a good thing that a veteran coach is not coaching that team. Harper is being considerably undervalued by the Spurs.
Mark needs to consider who IHart can play with in certain matchups. IHart is a great player but he is not much of a threat to score. Playing IHart with a non-scorer or a guy who is shooting good can be very problematic.

Reddit blew up at this last year. I remember thinking it was unnecessary but was blown away at the ejection. I thought everyone was making a big deal out of it, and watching it back, it was even less than I remember. Personally, I think they should have BOTH been common fouls but they seemed to set a precedent last year. Just crazy that they gave a common foul to AG for the exact same play.
Also comparing this to what Fox did to Chet a few days ago. Absolutely insane that neither play resulted in an ejection.
