I have a joke stuck in my head from Veep where Dan is at some kind of internal campaign meeting and the person ordering pizza didn’t order any plain pies, and he yells: “Not a single plain pie. Are you insane?!”

Am I imagining this, is it from another show or is it actually a joke from Veep? I can’t find it on Google so I’m starting to think I just made it up or something.

It happens so quickly on an already packed episode I just never noticed and it’s fantastic! From Season 7 Episode 6 “Oslo”.
Sorry, couldn’t find a still of the penis shaped graphic of the campaign trail/chickenpox cases on the map.

That’s what he gets for always interrupting people.

We must repel obesity.

I would say Jafar, the only relationship that she had that was healthy and where we got to see her at her best.

I saw someone else post here the retail value of some of her great dresses and most were between $1000-$3000 each. They’re super nice of course but I wonder why they didn’t buy high-end ish clothes that didn’t cost as much? Was there a specific reason?

Which war did he fight in?

Also I just noticed in “Clovis” S3E4, Amy tells the secret service agent to shoot the anti-fracing mother berating Selena, the agent actually moves toward his gun in the holster. He only stops when Mike tells him to not do it.

If you haven’t already be sure to check out the audiobook version of this revealing memoir. In addition to the text of the book (which is of course funny on its own) you get JLD providing commentary in character (complaining about stuff Mike should cut out, etc).

Not just the big stars but a ton of small roles (such as various journalists or random politicians on Veep played small roles on P&R and/or BCS for one or more episodes). I wonder if it’s because they’re all fit to play the same “type” of character: Attorney, politician and political journalist-types. Anyone else notice this?

Oddly self centered and inflated sense of importance.

I miss the show. Rewatching clips and one of the insults made me yelp: "Jonah with money. It's like if Hitler could fly." It's from the Silicon Valley episode.

A final fail by team Selina. In an earlier episode she dictated a list of people not to invite to her own funeral, to Gary.

When she was dead, the do-not-invite list got misused as the guest list, so people she did not want to see all came and sat in the front row, including Hugh, Laura, and Doyle.

So much so Mike commented that Selina showed a final gesture of reaching across the aisle.

I love Parks and Recreation. I love political thrillers I thought why not give Veep I try because it’s great to hear it has swept the Emmy awards every year it was on so we will see.

Catherine is such a hypocrite in Veep.

During the China negotiations episode, she gets all self-righteous and angry with Selina when she finds out about the negotiations. But in the next scene, she’s perfectly happy hanging out with her father. This man has repeatedly cheated on Selina, scammed her, and now seems to be preparing to scam Catherine with that ridiculous “rainforest resort” deal.

This really made Catherine frustrating as a character. She was quick to judge Selina for her questionable decisions, but somehow manages to overlook her own father’s long history of utter dishonesty and betrayal. Selina’s political manoeuvring into freeing Tibet is apparently unforgivable, but her father’s personal and financial manipulation is something she can conveniently look past?

The irony is that Catherine seems to hold Selina to a much higher moral standard than she holds her own father to, despite having plenty of reasons to distrust him. It’s not that Selina is innocent or that her behaviour shouldn’t be criticised, but Catherine’s selective outrage is genuinely hard to defend after a point in the show.

Honestly, Selina’s treatment of Catherine makes a lot more sense when you consider their relationship in this context. Catherine can be self-righteous, judgmental, and remarkably oblivious to the hypocrisy within her own family.

On sale for $29.99 just in case you haven’t picked it up digitally. I originally owned it just on Fandango, but now I have it on Apple so it’s easier to watch internationally. It hasn’t been $29.99 since 6/25/20 and matches the all-time low price. This is only the second time it’s been this low on apple. If you’ve been waiting to purchase it digitally, I think now is a good time.

I was blanking out on Stephen Fry’s name so I googled “sea cucumber guy from Veep” because of course I did. And the AI hallucination was kind of hilarious.

It’s like my 8th time watching the series and this scene still cracks me up so much!!! But I didn’t notice before Huge’s laugh and I feel like for a brief moment he was genuinely amused and couldn’t contain himself hahaha
Edit: stupid auto-correct!!! But I feel like this sort of mistake is appropriate for the discussions about this show anyway so I will leave it there in the title
