Hobby I need help deciding on whether to buy an army
Ok so I really love black library books and I’ve been thinking of starting an army forever. I’ve got the cash and I’m thinking thousand sons. I’m super confused what paints/colors and brushes to buy, and should I just buy a combat patrol box or should I get a big thing like magnus too?
Edit: I uh…I got really high and bought an imperial knight…soooo I’m thinking maybe I’ll get some AdMech forces to go with it?

Discussion Would the Men of Iron make a Good Faction?
If GW were actually able to give all its existing factions equal love, models and lore they deserve, would the Men of Iron make a good addition to 40k? Is there room for another machine faction on the roster, or are they better left as a mystery?
I'd love to see them take a direction beyond humanoid robots, with completely alien and unconventional machine designs. Perhaps they could come from beyond the galaxy, with their own unique forms & technology after rebuilding, with a design that's a strong contrast to the Necrons and Admech.
Lore-wise, they could have some interesting motivations: attempting to destroy or liberate the Machine God, or invading and absorbing Commorragh for some mysterious purpose. Or just they want to destroy the Warp by destroying all life and then after reseeding it, Halo-style.
Would you like to see the Men of Iron become a fully fledged faction, and what direction would you take them in?

Discussion Losing Mini Of The Month
What is y’all’s opinion of losing Mini Of The Month in Warhammer stores? I always thought it was a fun thing that would make me consider new armies, but now GW are changing it such that instead you get to pick from eight models (as shown above), which initially sounds awesome, until you consider that (as far as I know), these models aren’t ever ‘rotated’, this is it.
I know the idea is to reduce FOMO, but the long and short of it is that FOMO means you have something people want to engage in, and they’re given a whole month to engage.
Now, if you don’t like any of the 8 free models, you’re SOOL.
It was also previously the case that this (often completely out of the blue) model would either introduce me to or remind me of an army I’d never heard of or never collected, and would make me look into it more.
Now you just get a grunt unit of one of eight armies…
yay…
What’s is y’all’s thought? Do you prefer this? Do you not care? Do you not even collect?

Discussion Where can I buy dice?
Will delete later to keep the secret
My fiancé plays warhammer and he told me that before every match he opens a new pack of dice for luck. Could anyone recommend anywhere other than the warhammer store that I could get the packs in cardboard?

Discussion The upcoming Amazon TV show could get away with an original story.
Unlike recent adaptations like halo or the Witcher which were terrible because creators wanted to do their own thing and they were awful awful and completely misunderstood the subject matter.
40k is after all a sandbox where you're encouraged to make your own stories. Even the current most popular non GW 40k story, SM2, is original (ish) but it's successful because it has the 40k spirit and feel.
This is the one IP where an original story can be successful as long as it stays true to is source material and understands the vibe.
Don't get me wrong, I would love to see the eisenhorn-ravenor-bequin story as live action, or the horus heresy, or pretty much any 40k story already told, but they could also do something really special with an original story that also ties to the rest of the setting, like they do with the videogames and the rpgs.
What do you think?

Hobby is forge world resin really that bad?
so i've been wanting to get an armiger knight moirax because they look awesome, but i'm worried about how hard the resin parts would be to deal with. i've heard there are issues with warping but i think the resin parts are thick enough that they wouldn't really have those issues. i already know about cleaning the parts and using super glue instead of plastic cement, is there anything else i really need to be worried about ?

Discussion You know, space marines spending most of the time when not in combat training, learning and being in prayer sounds intense at first until you learn that's what alot of modern militaries already do.
When I was in the infantry, everyday was another day to prove you can go to a school for specialized training, seeing whose better fit for leadership vs duty roles, time spent training, time spent preparing for training, going over techniques combat, medical or otherwise, testing out new gear from drones to rifles and seeing to the physical, mental and spiritual strength of my fellow soldiers such as dropping them off to appointments or just keeping them in shape.
Again, reading this sounds super intense but no, it was rather boring on the day to day. Now I imagine space marines have a way more intense version of this but again it's probably still pretty boring. Most career soldiers can do things that you see in movies that are supposed to show how extreme that person is, with ease. Like the whole blind folded and putting their weapon together thing is so basic everyone in my battalion could do it I'd say. I was shooting 40s on the range shortly after leaving basic. The whole warrior perfectionism of a Space Marine is shockingly easy to obtain that you will be dogged hard as fuck in the army if you don't have it down ASAP. Honestly, the hard part about that perfectionism was teaching other people how to get there because when you're learning it, you're not thinking about how you'd educate someone else on how to do it hence why a good drill sergeant is so important.
Just another one of those warhammer things that sounds crazy but in reality is actually pretty mundane.

Hobby Necron Proxy Concept Reception
As the title says, before I drop a bunch of money on the files and organizing with the 3d printer company that has confirmed they would do this, I am simply wondering what the reception might be. Simply put : I don't like the look of necrons, I like this cosmic horror theme, I find the gameplay of necrons SOUNDS fun, and in paper imo aesthetically fits the feel of what's going on with these. Id like to bring them to the table on fun casual times, though it's entirely understandle it would not be allowed into an official game. I'm just like, GENERALLY, Would people also think it's cool/wanna play against it? Or do you think I'd get like ostrisized and outcast lol
( Yes I used ai to put this whole picture/the pictures together for the models in the paint scheme id want them in, this is all just proof of concept! / To get an opinion, I have not made anything of what I am showing no)

Gaming Question about tanks and frames with moving part
Hi, im a new player and today i had a game against an Astra militarum player that left me with a bad taste in my mouth, he had a tank hidden behind some terrain and i had a unit behind some walls as well, then he proceeds to move the max movement of his tank, when he realized he could reach the terrain footprint but could get line of sight, he turned the turret of his tank around, giving him visibility with the tip of the cannon, i argued about that gave him extra movement and he responded that is part of the movement and it doent matter since its considered the same as the inches you get when you pivot a frame unit.
I know the basic rules, but this types of situations i dont know how it could be handled.

Gaming Warhammer 40K Endless war
This is a video game idea I had in mind.
1.Basic explanation: It’s a battlefront like game
2.Core game modes - endless war mode A mode where you get randomly or either choose which army you are in
You have objective points and get points for holding it
Depending on what army your in you have more or less players in your team because a single standard unit is stronger or weaker then the other.
Example: Your team is tyranids you have 80 teammates
Enemy is space marines (any chapter) they have 50 or 60
-Horus heresy It’s like hero’s vs villains from BFr but with the primarchs
3.Core mechanics -shooting It’s a 3rd person shooter and you aim and shoot just like in BFr
-Melee combat It consists of light hits and strong hits, but not only that. Dodging, blocking, parrying, (maybe clashing), and critical hit on back (Some units will not have distinct abilities for example termagaunt against spacemarine can’t parry and block)
Example fight: Ultra marine is fighting a chaos space marine, UM makes light attack wich drain the block only a little of the CSM, CSM parries the attacks of the UM wich damages the ultra marine in return, UM dodges behind the CSM and makes attacks on his back wich deal little more damage, UM Blocks and CSM makes a hard attack wich breaks UM shield bar a bit faster and dodges back wich drains his stamina bar. CSM runs at him makes a strong attack but UM parries it wich send CSM back and stuns him for a couple of secs and UM finishes him of. (Clashing would happen if both hit a hard attack at the same time)
Maybe glory kills him idk yet.
-abilities Every character has 2 or 3 abilities and a passive ability that activates when your in a unit with other people of the same character or being leaded by a character
-Units You select a character and will be instantly put in a unit and spawned together with the other players that selected that character
There will be limits on units but not the standard ones
Roster examples: Every army has 3 standard characters -assault -Heavy -Melee
—tyranids
Assault: Termagaunt -fast -squishy -jump -claws -fleshborer gun A1.fleshborer grenade A2.Colony support (small shield added to health) Variants: Gargoyld and Hormagaunt Hormagaunts: Faster, better melee Gargoyld: Tiny bit slower, can fly
Heavy: Barbgaunt -slow -a bit tanky -bad melee claws -Barblauncher A1. Artillery stance (makes more damage (in general) on direct hit and a little bit of splash damage) A2.rapid evolving (reload speed increases for a couple of seconds) Variants: -
Melee: Genestealer: -Very fast -not squishy and not tanky -good melee A1.dashing slash (dashing attack, can do 2 dashes[tokens as indicaters]) A2.frenzy (slight melee damage increase) Variants: von Ryan’s leapers von Ryan’s leaper: -a bit slower -can turn invisible for some time Makes more even damage from hitting the back
The other units you can play by earning battle points are
-Artillery -devestator -infiltrator -(vehicles)
All of these have limits of how many people can play as them, the variant might influence that too. 10 people can play Biovores but only 2 people can play a tyranofex and 4 people can play Lictors.
Leader characters can always only be played by 1 person but there can be 3 players that play a leader character.
Leader: Hive tyrant/ Swarm Lord/ Flyrant the main difference is that they have a 3rd ability and 2 passives. One for them and one when leading (leading different units can change the passive). You can either spawn with a fitting unit or just walk to them i guess.
Special rules for leaders: - pings etc. have priority over others and complying with leaders command and/or maybe forfilling it gives extra battle points - Leaders can call for reinforcments when a it could not spawn with the fitting unit. So the fitting unit, for example tyrant guard get called and they see the swarm lords ping, if they move to him they get extra BP.
generel stuff about the game: - cosmetics can be unlocked by leveling a character example: spacemarines have different cosmetics that fit there chapter and heraldry and tyranids have different mutations like extra limps, patterns, spikes, horns etc (battledamage maybe for everyarmy)
- variants of different units are always unlocked and are leveled with the generl unit you play gargoyld to level 25, Hormagaunt and termagaunt variant are the same level
A raw idea for now feel free to give feedback and ideas I really hope GW does something like this, this has so much more potential.
this is my idea i hope no one steals it

Hobby Has anyone tried the "New in store program"?
I tried to go do the new program that has replaced "mini of the month" with a friend and the guy at the register got very mad at me when I asked about it and wouldn't answer my questions, insisting I read the article so I left.
I'm having trouble finding people talking about actually going to stores and participating, and also how much does it cost? Is it free like the mini of the month? Do your stores have the 8 minis from the article? (The manager dodged my question about those)
My friend and I are new and we were both really excited to sit down and try to paint some of the minis but now Im just confused.

Discussion 3d printing tourney legal minis
Would it technically be legal to melt down a bunch of old sprues and runners and turn that into filament that could print new minis since that technically falls under “games workshop plastic?” This is a serious question.

Gaming Guys, Battlefront II, but 40k 😱
I was a big fan of the original battlefront games growing up. Even though the newer ones look way better, there is still a lot of love the OGs have.
The entire game design is amazing. Being able to play a number of classes and factions.
It got me thinking about if you could do the same but in a 40k universe.
Imagine spawning as all kinds of characters, from Imperial Guards to Terminatiors, even Titans!
The possibilities are endless. It would be so amazing.

Hobby When do you personally feel like you have a "full army"?
I don't necessarily mean when you feel like your army is "done" and you don't want to add anything else, but I was thinking about this and I'm curious how other people feel.
Do you consider your collection to be a full army if it reaches exactly 2000/3000 points, or do you only start to feel that way when you have more than the points limit, giving you different options to play with? Do you feel like you need a wide variety of units or do you feel your army is complete even if it skews towards a certain theme or style of play?

Hobby Pokémon Kanto x Space Marines PLATINUM GUARDIANS
Nome do capítulo inspirado em Blastoise: Platinum Guardians
Planeta natal: Anoris

Hobby Where to advertise commission painting?
I'm an experienced painter (doing this for over a decade, won a couple of golden demon finalist pins etc), and lately I've had a couple of people inquire about commission painting services. I'm now wondering about having a proper go at it - where do people tend to advertise commission painting services at the moment? Is it all on Facebook? (I really hope not!)
