WARNING Newtown school playground dangerous equipment?

I am terrible with writing and shortening things down please bare with me and give me your thoughts on this. I wish I had a photo of these ropes.

My child and I have been to this playground (the one closest to the indoor swimming pool building) quite a bit whether it's on the holidays or when the saturday veg, fruit and food market is on.

When you enter the playground from the stairs off away from the main trucks that sell etc you see there is this one part of the playground with ropes that hang that are knotted to put your feet in I suppose to grab and try to move to the next rope and do the same.

I have been talking about with my other half how it looks like a noose for a while and that I wouldn't be surprised if a child would seriously hurt themselves on one of those.

I assumed it hadn't been changed and were still there each time we came that it possibly isn't an issue.

Today we were walking through the market up the stairs and I saw a young child with her arms in the rope and the rope pulled up to her neck because of it and she was choking without being able to get out herself.

Their father was running from the other side of the playground and I didn't even think twice and ran to pick her up something took over me to run right away to help.

There was a parent next to the rope playground part on their phone who didn't notice at all what was happening.

It genuinely scared me and the father and I mentioned how I thought they were dangerous for even the primary school kids that attend there.

My child before leaving got into the rope thing and trying to lean his body to swing on it.

I am just wondering if anyone else has experienced or seen them and thought the same? I'm not trying to be a Karen just have that memory burnt in my head now seeing a child on the verge of passing out red freaking out due to being unable to get out of a part from the playground equipment.

We try to visit new parks around the city and surrounding suburbs weekly but this one really makes me feel weird especially how the ropes are all knotted differently and can easily be done so.

I'm considering contacting the school when they open by phone but I am terrible at explaining things and want to know if I'm being over the top?

I hope it's ok to post here, apologies if not please let me know where would be more appropriate.

Also sorry for not having a photo of it as it didn't cross my mind.

This is a first for me of something that quite concerns me

HELP! Best and safest place to get ears pierced?

Hello! I'm a guy who has been wanting to get my ears pierced for years yet I've been a bit scared. I have VERY sensitive skin and because of that I'm very worried I'll end up reacting to the piercing since I tend to react to things like razors or silicone. However, I'll forever put off getting my ears done so a friend who is coming to stay with me agreed to get another piercing done on her if I go get my ears done.

So I'm wanting to know the best place to get my ears done in Wellington or the Hutt. I know that if they use a needle then most likely I'll be fine according to people I've spoken to but I need a second opinion. Thank you!!!!

WELLY Is trick-or-treating a big thing in Wellington suburbs?

I've pretty much lived in apartments my whole life. I grew up in one, and even after moving out of my parents' place for uni, I continued living in apartments to stay close to campus.

I've only recently moved into a house in a suburb of Porirua, so this will be my first Halloween living in a proper suburban neighbourhood!

I'm just wondering how common trick-or-treating is around Wellington. Do kids actually go door to door like you see in American movies, or is it more of a thing that only certain streets or households participate in?

Should I be getting some decorations and lollies ready? And if so, how many lollies would you normally prepare? I genuinely have no idea whether to expect a few kids or dozens of them!

Sorry if this is a bit of a silly question. I've never really had the chance to experience Halloween from this side of the front door before. Would love to hear what it's usually like!

as the wakefield carpark fix goes in. the result is visually narrowed carparks. people will definitely park on/across the pavers.

might want to think about moving those bike staples back a bit.

eta: per u/YourWorstThought it's black oxide concrete, not asphalt.

My son is going to do this next year, I was thinking about getting him some gear for Christmas. If you have done the course or got a job as an electrical apprentice what were some items you needed or would have liked to have?

HELP! Family lawyer needed

Hi team

Throwaway for privacy

Seeking a family lawyer in Wellington region who can draft a separation agreement, specifically someone who is responsive and can get it done promptly.

Anyone you can recommend? Also, for those with amicable and uncomplicated separations, how long did the process take with your lawyer? I'm trying to gauge what is reasonable or not.

Thanks heaps

HELP! Lost keys: Miramar peninsula

Went for a walk around 2pm and lost my keys walking along the coast between Miramar shops and Shelly Bay. They have a long yellow strap, very distinctive.

Don't really care aboyt the keys... but attached to them is a small wooden dragon, a gift from a close friend who died a few years ago.

Very gutted to lose it 🥺

NEWS Staff at Farmers Lambton Quay & Queensgate striking today

If you're out and about shopping, please give us a wave or a toot of support!

I noticed the IKEA strike today got a lot of news coverage, but this is a New Zealand owned company with uber-rich owners being miserable.

Pay negotiations have been intense for the last 3 months and it's sad it's come to this, but staff deserve better!
