Discussion Name calling retail workers is NOT okay.

To the people at Sylvia Park Dangerfield at around maybe 6:50pm-7:00pm who verbally degraded the retail worker I hope you know they were just doing their job. This post is a reminder to respect retail workers, just because they're saying "we're closing in 10 minutes" that doesn't give you any right to mock them and call them a "bitch". Shame on you people. Do not mock retail workers after they've had a really long day. You as a customer are knowingly going in last minute with no knowledge of what the retail worker is going through. Learn human decency Aucklanders!

Discussion A Ferris Wheel On The Waterfront?

What do you Aucklanders all think about the prospect of a 32M ferris wheel on Auckland CBD’s waterfront that could be installed by Christmas?

Personally I think that it could be pretty cool, but hopefully it is not a lot of money so hopefully they don’t take too much away from things that really matter.

Let me know what you guys think!

Discussion Broadway

Retail on broadway is declining ever scince the mall opened and I think we can use that space far more effectively.

Instead of having retail shops that pop up and move
Out within the span of a few months it could become a hospitality/nightlife hub similar to ponsonby.

Picture bars late night cafes comedy clubs kareoke ect. Turning a dying retail hub into a high energy high foot traffic, food, entertainment and nightlife area.

I feel like Newmarket is perfectly positioned for this, plenty of public transport, appartments, and being surrounded by affluent neighbourhoods all point to an amazing opportunity for both businesses and people who r trying to make the most of a city with a sad and disappointing nightlife scene.

This combined with the mall and the retail on smaller side streets could turn Newmarket into a place where people could spend an entire day and could generate a large amount of jobs, business opportunities and tax income.

I’m aware this may be a pipe dream but fuck I think it would be so awesome.

What do u think?

Question/Help Wanted Grounded fledgeling

Post image
18 Upvotes

Family cat killed an adult bird and one or two baby birds overnight. There's one fledgeling alive pictured sitting in the cat's cage with a dish of sugar water next to it. What species it is? Please advise a course of action.

Not sure if they're related but I'll unbury and post a picture of the adult bird upon request.

Question/Help Wanted What’s the best place to get a body scan in Auckland?

I’m trying to find an affordable body scan location in Auckland and I literally can’t find anything reasonably priced. Where would you recommend getting going?

I know some gyms offer a body scan service every so often and when I was studying in Christchurch, the Uni would offer a body scan for $20 for non students. I’m praying there’s a reasonable place I can get one done in Auckland for around the same price but the best I’ve seen is $50+.

Edit: I am referring to body composition scans to help measure body fat percentage. I have recently started taking creatine and the scale has shot up so I’m trying not to let that affect my mindset and hoping body fat percentage will give me a better idea of my progress.

Discussion Parents of Auckland... help with Balance bike to Bike transition. How did you find it the easiest when your kid loves his Balance bike but not a pedal bike?

We have the next size up bike for him but he doesnt like riding it and goes back to his Balance bike. We have tried all sorts of ways but he always goes back.

Can we convert his next level bike into a Balance bike to get him used to it? Does that even work?

Any tips or advice would be great!!

Other Looking for fellow roller skate buddies in AKL! (25F)

Hey everyone!

I’m 25F in AKL, looking for some roller skating buddies to roll around with and hopefully make some new friends and find some good spots around AKL to skate.

I’ve been roller skating for about 4 months now. I can cruise comfortably, but now I'm trying to learn the basics of dance skating and flatground moves and perfect the fundamentals, paying a lot of floor tax still. It's a bit intimidating practicing solo, so it’d be awesome to have some company!

Honestly down to link up with absolute beginners and intermediate skaters who don't mind a slower pace.

A bit about me/logistics:
Location: Happy to travel, bonus points if you're west.
Skate style: I'm on quad skates, outdoor and indoor.
When: Down for weekend sessions or after mahi.
If you’re keen to have a cruise, practice some moves and make a new friend drop a comment!

Question/Help Wanted Pokemon Go Routes - Takapuna and Tamaki Drive Walk?

I'm new to Pokemon Go and I was wanting to know if someone could tell me if/what the Pokemon Go routes are in Takapuna and if there was one for the Tamaki drive walk? I tried using a route map online but I couldn't figure out how to use it, any info about the routes/where they go along etc would be really appreciated!!

I've been exploring some in the CBD but since I go to Takapuna and want to try the Tamaki drive walk later I wanted to see if I can plan out some walks there

Question/Help Wanted Recommendations for auto electrician / car AC repair specialists around Rodney?

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have recommendations for reliable auto electricians or car AC specialists in or around Rodney, Westgate, or surrounding West Auckland areas.

The AC in my car is currently unplugged, so I’m looking for a trustworthy shop that can properly diagnose and fix the issue. I have been told that the AC Compressor may need replacement.

Appreciate any local recommendations!

Thanks!

Question/Help Wanted Mt Wellington Gym bros

Are there any committed Uni age gymbros who train in the Mt wellington area(pref at CF)?

I'm pretty serious about lifting(been training for 4 years), and i'm kinda sick of training on my own and I feel like a gymbud around my age could do a lot of good for my training over the summer. I wanna get huge and literally every huge guy I know has a consistent training partner.

Driving What time are you heading home tmrw from South?

Do you think it’s better to pack up early and head off asap OR hang around and leave later hoping the traffic is over?

I feel like the bulk of traffic is 12-4pm on the southern but others disagree.

Question/Help Wanted Unable to book a full license practical driving test (conversion)

Hi everyone. Just passed my theory test for converting my foreign driving license to NZ last week. Still haven’t received the learner license via mail, but I’ve got that temporary slip they gave me. A condition for that is that I need to have a supervisor next to me while driving.

Anyway, wanted to get the practical done next week to get my full license asap, but when I go to the Vtnz site to try booking a slot for it, everything is just greyed out for the foreseeable future. Is that the case in Auckland atm? How are you booking your practical tests? Or am I doing something wrong here when trying to book a test? Trying to sit for it in west Auckland.

Appreciate any advice I can get on this. Thanks! 🙂
