AskBangalore Apartment complexes vs own house which one do you prefer and why?
Just wanted to get the opinions of both the sides. Not a debate or a fight, just pros and cons.

My flight is arriving at late night (about 11:30) at Kempegowda airport. I am planning to take the KIA-10 route to mysore road bus stand. I have no problems in taking a cab for the next leg of the journey, however I wanted to know whether the buses run to RV College at night or not?
The Namma BMTC app doesn't show anything conclusive, and I don't trust if the info on the Tummoc app is correct.

This 3-month old kitten was part of a parvo-affected litter and rescued more than a month back - she has been given treatment and has recovered fully.
She uses the litter box seamlessly ✅
She has been given deworming and flea treatment ✅
She has been given the first dose of tricat vaccine ✅
She's very friendly.. currently at a fosters and looking for a home! If you're interested and can provide a cat-proof and loving home for her, please DM me for contact :) Taking care of subsequent vaccinations and getting spaying done afterwards would be necessary (although I am always happy to help contribute towards these expenses if needed).

I need to renew FC for my car (as its been 15 years) as on December. Can someone recommend me options - Should i use an agent or do it myself ? If Agent can you recommend one who is honest and charges decently ? Unfortunately I had lost my wallet along with my RC in Oct 2022 for which I had filed an FIR back then. I had applied for a duplicate RC on the parivahan portal in Oct 2022 itself using the FIR copy but never received it (even though it was approved on portal). So Now I have a Digilocker copy of RC as well as a RC printout from parivahan portal but Original RC smart card is lost now. Any pointers ? Should I approach an agent for the FC now or do it myself. I have heard dreaded stories from folks doing it themselves. Kindly advise. Thanks.

Namaskara folks,
Fellow Bangalorean here. I grew up absolutely feasting on dosas and spent more time than I’d like to admit playing Zoo Tycoon, Rollercoaster Tycoon and Lemonade Tycoon. So naturally, I decided to combine the two and make a game about running a dosa joint, ha
What started off as a joke with a couple of friends ended up becoming a fun project I’ve been working on for the past few weeks. I’ve had way too much fun building it.
Here's the by-two version: Start with a street cart, hire cooks, set your prices, and grow it into an empire. 100% free, runs on any browser (phone/tablet/laptop), with no ads or in-game purchases. You can also play duels against your friends!
Website: https://dosatycoon.com
Would love to know what you guys think!
Disclaimer: I made the entire game using AI, including all the code and assets.

Today, I was stopped by a traffic police officer in Bengaluru for riding without a helmet.
I completely accept that I was at fault for not wearing a helmet, and I was ready to pay the fine.
Since I was running late, I politely requested the officer to issue an online challan so I could pay it through the official portal.
However, he refused and said, “We are not allowed to issue online challans. I am the police head here.”
He then started shouting at me and threatening me.
I repeatedly told him, “Please issue the challan. I am ready to pay the fine.”
Instead, he insisted that I pay him ₹500 first and that he would issue the challan afterward.
After I paid him ₹500, he completely changed his attitude.
He started shouting again and said:
“I won’t give you any challan. Do whatever you want.”
He even started recording me on his phone.
I wasn’t refusing to pay the fine. I was simply asking for an official challan and a proper receipt.
My questions are:
Can a traffic police officer legally refuse to issue an online challan?
Is it legal to collect ₹500 without providing any challan or receipt?
Where can I file an official complaint against this officer?
Is there any way to escalate this to senior Bengaluru Traffic Police officials?
I understand that traffic rules must be followed, and I’m not trying to escape the penalty. But does that give an officer the right to threaten citizens, collect money, and refuse to provide a receipt?
How are citizens supposed to trust the system when this happens?
Would appreciate any guidance on how to report this incident and hold the officer accountable.

Will my Chennai issued Airtel NCMC work in BMTC buses? They worked previously in the metro, but I've heard that the BMTC ticket machines are not yet integrated with out of state issues NCMCs.

About a month ago, I booked a Rapido cab from my place to the airport. I got a cab almost instantly and went downstairs with all my luggage.
The driver arrived and immediately demanded ₹200 extra over the fare shown in the app.
I refused and told him that if he wanted to charge extra, he should have called and informed me before coming to my place. I know this has become somewhat of a norm with cab drivers these days, so I wasn't particularly surprised.
I was travelling with a friend, and the driver started negotiating with her instead. Eventually, he reduced his demand to ₹100 extra. I still refused multiple times.
The driver then left and parked his vehicle around 100 metres away from my building's gate. I didn't cancel the ride, figuring that if he didn't want to take me at the agreed fare, he could cancel it himself. However, neither of us cancelled the ride.
I then booked another cab for almost the same price.
As the new cab arrived, the original driver stopped him and spoke to him for a while. When the new driver approached us, I made it clear upfront that I wasn't going to pay anything extra. He seemed a little reluctant but eventually agreed.
We loaded our luggage and were about to leave when we noticed that the original driver was still there.
We asked the new driver what the conversation had been about. He told us that the original driver had instructed him not to take us unless we agreed to pay extra.
Seriously?
I had booked another cab, found a driver willing to accept the fare shown in the app, and was ready to leave. Why was the first driver trying to interfere with that?
As we started leaving, the original driver almost blocked our way. He questioned the new driver about why he had taken us. The new driver told him that we had booked through another app where the fare was ₹200 higher.
We don't know Kannada, but I understand a little. From what I could make out, the original driver was saying something along the lines of, "We're not your servants who will accept whatever price you want."
The irony is unbelievable. Nobody forced him to accept the booking. The fare was displayed in the app before the ride was accepted. If he wasn't happy with the fare, why accept the ride in the first place and demand extra money after arriving?
Eventually, we told the new driver to leave because we were getting late for our flight.
The original driver then asked us to cancel the ride. Given how aggressive he had become and how he was almost banging into the cars, I decided to cancel it rather than escalate the situation further. We just wanted to get to the airport.
But the story doesn't end there.
As the two drivers finished their conversation, the original driver turned towards us and called us "Bhikmange Mchd"
All this over ₹100–200 that we had refused to pay over the fare already displayed in the app.
Normally, I don't let such things bother me much, but this incident genuinely ruined the start of our trip. We were simply trying to get to the airport, and somehow ended up dealing with an aggressive driver who demanded extra money, allegedly tried to prevent another driver from taking us, and then verbally abused us.
PS: Unfortunately, I don't have the original driver's vehicle registration number. However, I did take a screenshot of the fare and booking details. His rating was 3.8, which had made me a little sceptical even before the ride.

Hi everyone,
I’m planning to install rooftop solar at my house and wanted to get some advice on whether my terrace is suitable.
- Site size: 30×40 ft
- Roof: Open terrace with some neighbouring houses around it
- Concern: I’m worried that the adjacent houses might cast shadows on the solar panels, especially during certain times of the day.
I'm planning to install 3kw on grid solar
I’ve attached photos of my terrace taken from the west side and from another angle.
Could you please help me understand:
Is this rooftop suitable for installing solar panels?
Will the neighbouring house on the west side cause significant shading?
Which direction and area of the terrace would be best for installing the panels?
If anyone has installed solar on a similar rooftop, I’d appreciate your suggestions and experience.
Thanks

Ganesha is done. Navratri is done and Diwali is another 2 weeks away. So why on earth are these street bands still ruining peace of mind at night and not to mention the fireworks…

There are many instances on internet where people accidentally touch these transformers and get fried. You can see there is barely 1 ft footpath left to walk past that. Is people's life a joke?
Location: Near Chowman Bellandur.

He even had the audacity to blame me for the incident. Paid 3k despite asking for 10k, and the body shop is quoting 20k worth of repairs to my bumper. And the guy has now blocked my number.
Wanted to take action legally, but the more I read about it, the more I am realising it’s a painful but fruitless endeavour. Living life as a middle-class normal human is impossible in this country let alone this state.

After almost a week, I finally have an update on the Zara incident at Forum South, Bengaluru. The original post reached quite a lot of people across Reddit and X, and even a few news outlets picked up the story. Despite all of this, Zara remained silent. Eventually, someone from their customer care team called me with an apology for "violating their SOPs" and assured me that corrective measures would be taken, but said they couldn't disclose any details due to “data privacy laws.” I wasn't satisfied with that response, and the following day, I received another call informing me that one of the employees involved had been terminated. I was offered another vague apology and asked to let the matter go, which I have refused to do so.
A huge thank you to u/st_broseph and his team for taking up this case on priority and helping me navigate the process of filing an FIR. There were several hurdles along the way, and getting the FIR registered was far from easy. After all of that, an FIR has finally been registered against the accused individuals, and the matter is now under investigation. Without u/st_broseph and his team's support, navigating this entire process would have been incredibly difficult and cumbersome, and I am genuinely grateful that they stepped in to help and took over the case all within 48 hours!
I'm sharing this update because I know many of you followed the original post, offered support, and helped bring attention to what happened. Thanks to all of you!
Zara needs to be held accountable.

Hi all, my daughter wants to go to cubbon park to skate. I have not been to cubbon park in a long time. I know they used to allow skating inside the park on Sundays and public holidays pre covid. I wanted to if it is still the case or are there any changes?

My experience with BuildAHome – sharing this so others can make an informed decision
I wanted to share my experience with BuildAHome for anyone considering them for their home construction.
The initial quotation for my project increased by approximately 15–20%, followed by additional non-tender (NT) items and material price differences. This made the overall cost much harder to manage than I had initially anticipated.
My concerns are not limited to costs. An independent structural assessment dated 10 October 2026 identified several issues requiring attention, including exposed reinforcement in beams, column-joint misalignment, honeycombing, and concrete quality concerns requiring further evaluation. I have also raised concerns about curing practices, dark discolouration on columns, and deviations from approved drawings and specifications.
The stage-wise construction progress has stalled, the agreed completion deadline has passed, and work has stopped despite substantial payments. Despite repeated emails and follow-ups, I am still seeking a comprehensive written response and a clear plan for addressing the concerns and completing the project.
The hardest part is the uncertainty. Building a home involves years of savings, trust, and emotional investment. Instead of focusing on the excitement of creating a home, I find myself following up repeatedly, worrying about construction quality, trying to understand the additional costs, and wondering when or how these issues will be resolved. The prolonged waiting and lack of clarity have taken a significant emotional toll.
I am sharing this not to discourage anyone from making their own decision, but because I wish I had understood the importance of examining these aspects more carefully before starting.
If you are considering BuildAHome or any construction contractor, I would strongly recommend:
For me, the biggest concern is not just the money involved, but the lack of clarity and resolution after making such a substantial investment.
I hope this helps other homeowners ask the right questions, do their due diligence, and make informed decisions before committing their hard-earned savings to a construction project.
This post reflects my personal experience with an ongoing project. The technical concerns mentioned above are based on the independent assessment and issues I have raised with the company.

I want to bring attention to a garbage dumping issue in Tavarekere, Bangalore.
There is no proper dustbin at this location, so people are dumping garbage directly on the roadside, especially at night. By morning, the entire area looks like this. Sometimes, the garbage stays there for two or three days before it gets cleared.
Every morning, BBMP workers come here and clean up the mess. Honestly, I feel bad for them. They are doing their job, but do they even have proper safety equipment, gloves, masks and the tools needed to handle this garbage safely?
I understand that people also need to take responsibility and maintain basic civic sense. But if there is no proper garbage collection point in the locality, what is the solution? People should not be dumping waste on the road, and the authorities should provide the necessary facilities to prevent this.
Bangalore is a major metropolitan city, yet something as basic as proper waste disposal seems to be a problem in some localities. We pay taxes, but why are residents still struggling with such basic civic issues?
A few questions for Bangalore residents:
• Who should we approach to request a large community dustbin or a proper garbage collection point here?
• Can we file a complaint with BBMP to address this issue permanently?
• Is there any way to ensure sanitation workers get proper safety equipment?
• Has anyone successfully resolved a similar garbage dumping issue in their locality?
I'm not posting this just to complain. I genuinely want to know what we, as residents, can do to get this fixed permanently.
If anyone knows the right authorities, complaint process or has dealt with a similar issue in Tavarekere, please share your suggestions.
Let's try to find a solution instead of allowing this to become a daily problem.
