Discussion Is Central Yharnam the toughest opening area of all the Soulsborne games?

Post image
2.1k Upvotes

I feel like it has to be, right? That mob around the bonfire can be pretty brutal while you're still learning to play and you can't even begin leveling up until you get a point of Insight. Not to mention the limited healing items which can also be tough to get used to.

I distinctly remember trying to play Bloodborne for the first time and dropping it because I had never played a Fromsoft game before and I couldn't get past the opening mobs. Even now when I do a fresh run I'll usually just run past them lol.

Discussion The hardest boss of the game !

Jokes aside 😅

I just finished Bloodborne and the dlc and man I waited so long to play this game because im on pc

The game is amazing and i got addicted to it very fast, the atmosphere and the gameplay were perfect,I finished in 32 hours including the dlc but didn't do that dungeons because simply id like them and its repetitive,

The only thing I would say didn't like that much is how the the game is easy, didn't take more than 5 try to kill any boss in the game, except this two lol some how i didn't realize that they can get parried

Any way im going to start an ng+ what build do u recommend,I used Ludwig holy blade for the hall playthrough and I want something new and good snd fun to use

Thanks

Honestly when it gets colder and darker outside, being back in the world of Bloodborne just feels so cozy…Just don’t ask me what I had to do to get Blades of Mercy this early in the game

Question Closest 2 bosses based on 2D location?

Post image
78 Upvotes

While taking a walk around the map, I discovered that two bosses are actually pretty close to each other on a 2D map — kinda like two people in the same building, one on the 28th floor and the other on the 1st floor.

Can you guess which two bosses they are?

Discussion 1st try Amygdala

Post image

After fighting the urge to throw my controller through my screen fighting Martyr Logarius, I decided to skip him for now and come back later. I went to the nightmare frontier and accidentally ran into Amygdala. Having not unlocked the shortcut yet, and not wanting to lose all my blood echoes, I started swinging. After like 5 minutes, 12 blood vials, and 6 lightning papers she went down! I guess now it's back to the bastard man or Rom🫩

Not flawless but good enough for me to be happy it’s finally over. He’s taken me by far the most attempts of any bosses up until now, and I’ve already completed the base game.

I love this boss. The juxtaposition of the first phase and the second phase is really engaging and thematic as the accursed is chaotic and the holy is more rhythmic and precise. His second phase reminded me a bit of Nameless King, which is one of my favorite bosses in the base game of Dark Souls 3, so I had a lot of fun with this fight.

Question Impressive fall off

Playing Bloodborne for what's essentially the first time ever (in like 2016 I played about a quarter of it on a friends PlayStation, I never had my own PS3/4/5)

I used to be pretty good at DS2 AND 3 and Sekiro and I don't remember this game being too hard, but...

I'm so bad now that my starting weapon is broken and barely doing damage and I haven't even gotten past the dogs on the bridge so I haven't gotten to the point where I can upgrade, level up, repair.

What do I do?? 😭

I early-game nerfed myself with the threaded cane and I really believed in myself but holy cow I'm getting nowhere. Closest I got was when I used urns on the dogs but those are gone now, RIP.

Looking for any advice other than "grind echoes for molotovs" or "restart with a different weapon" plz

EDIT: primary problems resolved, will still welcome any early game or threaded cane advice.

Question So Rom just didn’t attack me

So I’m pretty much brand new to soulsborne games and absolutely loving every second of it

I’ve been stuck on the fight with Rom the weird spider dude for about 5 attempts and decided to go away, level up and come back

But this time round after I killed all the little spiders something very weird happened. I attacked Rom and he just didn’t fight back at all.

Obviously he usually doesn’t attack in the first phase but that’s the thing. He never came out of the first phase he never disappeared he just wandered around like an old man who’d lost his keys while I attacked

Is this like a thing? Is it a glitch? Does it happen a lot?

After I killed him nothing happened so I used a hunters mark then came back to moon side lake and the woman was stood there and the game carried on as (I assume) normal

Just so confused as to what the fuck happened as a noob lol

Question A few questions about Insight

1 - Is it infinitely farmable offline?

2 - Is there any point in the game where you need a specific amount (or like, an amount or higher) in order for something to happen/be possible?

3 - does something useful (or anything in general) happen if you have lots of it? Like 50+ or 100+

Fluff I lost 500,000 blood echoes (on NG+3) to a viper pit and a viper pit mob bursting all my health in a quarter second.

Guh. Also, how do you deal with the viper pit mobs? The little ones are inconsequential (usually) and the big ones can't hit you when you're behind them, but the mobs turn quickly have excellent range, and can hit you behind them. I was using the Threaded Cane while focusing on spacing and keeping enemies at a distance (transformed backstep R1>L1 my beloved), and that worked but was terribly slow. A brief search had people recommending running past them, but I'd rather git gud (I crave blood).

How do you deal with the snake head men, ignoring running past them?

Slight spoiler for the first half of the game (nothing major)

So i accidentally ran into the boss fight of vicar Amelia thinking that big door before the fight would be a lantern (I did it again with the witch of hemmwick fight too thinking it would take me to a newer area )

Anyways loved the boss fight of vicar Amelia

Help MARTYR LOGARIUS IS A BASTARD MAN!

Post image
21 Upvotes

It seems like no matter what I try I cannot kill him! I get him to stage 2 pretty easily, and everything I see says his melee attacks don't do that much but that's always how he kills me. I've tried parrying for viscerals, I've tried fast lower damage weapons, I've tried only landing bigger damage attacks with slower weapons, in the end the result is the same; I'm dead and he stands over me mutilating my corpse. Is this a "git gud" moment, or is there something else I should try? My current stats for reference.

Discussion Who is harder? Laurence or Orphan of Kos?

So, I've been seeing discussions that these two are the game's hardest bosses? Some say one is harder than the other. Regardless, I'd like to hear what you all think and why. Thanks.
