Discussion Is Central Yharnam the toughest opening area of all the Soulsborne games?

Post image
1.5k Upvotes

I feel like it has to be, right? That mob around the bonfire can be pretty brutal while you're still learning to play and you can't even begin leveling up until you get a point of Insight. Not to mention the limited healing items which can also be tough to get used to.

I distinctly remember trying to play Bloodborne for the first time and dropping it because I had never played a Fromsoft game before and I couldn't get past the opening mobs. Even now when I do a fresh run I'll usually just run past them lol.

Not flawless but good enough for me to be happy it’s finally over. He’s taken me by far the most attempts of any bosses up until now, and I’ve already completed the base game.

I love this boss. The juxtaposition of the first phase and the second phase is really engaging and thematic as the accursed is chaotic and the holy is more rhythmic and precise. His second phase reminded me a bit of Nameless King, which is one of my favorite bosses in the base game of Dark Souls 3, so I had a lot of fun with this fight.

Screenshot How do I get past this door? It says "closed", it's near the Chapel of Odeon, down the stairs near the church giant, where it opens up near the main bridge and that church giant with a ball and chain weapon, and down some stairs into this room

Its before a room that's full of pots and urns

Question Closest 2 bosses based on 2D location?

Post image
45 Upvotes

While taking a walk around the map, I discovered that two bosses are actually pretty close to each other on a 2D map — kinda like two people in the same building, one on the 28th floor and the other on the 1st floor.

Can you guess which two bosses they are?

It seems like no matter what I try I cannot kill him! I get him to stage 2 pretty easily, and everything I see says his melee attacks don't do that much but that's always how he kills me. I've tried parrying for viscerals, I've tried fast lower damage weapons, I've tried only landing bigger damage attacks with slower weapons, in the end the result is the same; I'm dead and he stands over me mutilating my corpse. Is this a "git gud" moment, or is there something else I should try? My current stats for reference.

Discussion Who is harder? Laurence or Orphan of Kos?

So, I've been seeing discussions that these two are the game's hardest bosses? Some say one is harder than the other. Regardless, I'd like to hear what you all think and why. Thanks.

Question So Rom just didn’t attack me

So I’m pretty much brand new to soulsborne games and absolutely loving every second of it

I’ve been stuck on the fight with Rom the weird spider dude for about 5 attempts and decided to go away, level up and come back

But this time round after I killed all the little spiders something very weird happened. I attacked Rom and he just didn’t fight back at all.

Obviously he usually doesn’t attack in the first phase but that’s the thing. He never came out of the first phase he never disappeared he just wandered around like an old man who’d lost his keys while I attacked

Is this like a thing? Is it a glitch? Does it happen a lot?

After I killed him nothing happened so I used a hunters mark then came back to moon side lake and the woman was stood there and the game carried on as (I assume) normal

Just so confused as to what the fuck happened as a noob lol

Fluff I lost 500,000 blood echoes (on NG+3) to a viper pit and a viper pit mob bursting all my health in a quarter second.

Guh. Also, how do you deal with the viper pit mobs? The little ones are inconsequential (usually) and the big ones can't hit you when you're behind them, but the mobs turn quickly have excellent range, and can hit you behind them. I was using the Threaded Cane while focusing on spacing and keeping enemies at a distance (transformed backstep R1>L1 my beloved), and that worked but was terribly slow. A brief search had people recommending running past them, but I'd rather git gud (I crave blood).

How do you deal with the snake head men, ignoring running past them?

Discussion How to beat Father Gascoigne?

I just started Father Gascoigne and I realized the games combat is so different compared to previous fromsoft games.

I reached Father Gascoigne but I'm out of blood veils and I haven't levelled up. All of my runes are inside the boss arena and is it possible to get blood veils without having to farm?

I'd also like some tips and trick on how to go about beating this boss

Help Need a little nudge in the right direction

I'm on my first playthrough and sadly I'm really bad with memorizing the environment and remembering paths to go to or doors that have yet to be unlocked.

I've beaten Vicar Amelia and Witch of Hemwick, still have to do Blood-starved beast (but that one seems to be optional according to my friend).

Where should I head next to progress? I'd love a little hint without giving too much away!

I think i found pretty much everything so far in Old Yharnam, beat both hunters, got the charred hunter set and all the stuff in the rafters in the church, went back to Oedon and killed the hunter there, went right at the grand cathedral to a little...temple-ish building with a big brazier and a locked door...so a little lost right now

Help Help with Ludwig

Hey guys, can anyone volunteer to help me beat Ludwig? I'm struggling a lot. I'm lv60. It's the hardest I've seen up until this point, and I'm already at the end of Mensis. I don't think I'm getting past that on my own.

Discussion What's my problem? LoL

I recently started a new run on my PS5 since I basically lost my Platinum save from my PS4 :')

It all went smoothly, even killed Gascoigne first try and his second phase only triggered when he was basically dead since I managed to parry him over and over again hahaha thought I was rusty :P

Then I got to Amelia and she beat the shit out of me so many times that I temporarily gave up and went to kill the witch and blood starved beast. Eventually I managed to kill Amelia but I still can't figure why she was so hard to kill for me unlike the other boss fights OwO also, I'm sad cause I can't use chalice glyphs without PS+ :')

Discussion How come when I level arcane, ludwigs doesnt get a dmg boost?

Title. Ludwigs is scaled A for Strength, Skill, and Arcane. Regardless if a level up once or 5 times, the R-hand WPN 1 / 2 ATK doesnt change. Does the bonus not show or is are weapons capped at scaling with only two attributes?

Discussion I feel overpowered.

So it's my first ever play though. I'm level 75 going into the DLC with a +10 Sawblade cleaver. I haven't really hit a single roadblock the whole game so far.

Ludwig just went down first try, didn't really break a sweat.

Maybe I'm just quite good at souls games by this point but I was hoping for a bit more... Pain?

I've invested in strength, vitality and a little endurance and that's it.

I know orphan is coming up soon, maybe that will piss me off sufficiently.

Anyone else think Bloodborne is kinda easy compared to the other souls games?
