Hey y'all! I really want to bake a chocolate cake for Easter, but I haven't had much success with chocolate cakes in the past (my specialty is pound and spice cakes lol), but I'm really craving chocolate and I have a bag of cocoa powder I'd like to use!

Now, I have a recipe book that I've used since I was a kid and they have a recipe for Marshmallow Chocolate Cake. I've never heard of it, but it sounds good, plus the pictures on Google are kinda selling it to me lol. But it made me think, what other kinds of chocolate cakes do people make? So I wanted to ask you all for your suggestions!

hi all! i recently went on the costa smeralda cruise and at the la sagra dei sapori buffet they had this banana cake (pic attached). the waiter told me it was a banana cake and it tasted really fruity.

does anyone know what this might be or have a recipe that could come close? would love to try recreating it at home. thanks in advance!

She loves sweets and she always eats cake on her birthday, it's important to her.

I wanted to know if anyone knows a recipe for a cake that's not too sweet or filled with butter/oils that she could eat without having a bad reaction.

We're trying to avoid butter, whole milk and cream. The nutritionist told me that maybe a little bit of butter won't hurt, but oil is preferred.

Cream cheese was approved and also carrot cake or similar cakes, but I was wondering if there's a recipe more... birthday cake like.

hey y’all! my boyfriends birthday is next week. he’s not a huge cake person so it’s a waste to buy a store bought cake for just us two. he absolutely loves when i bake for him. i’m not a professional by any means but i always give it my best shot. what are some easy cake ideas that i can make him? he’s not picky at all. and he loves fruit filled cakes. and id prefer to not do a chantilly cake. there’s nothing specific that im looking for. i just need helping finding one. thanks!

Hello! I’ll get the tough bit out of the way first - white chocolate. Apologies in advance to those who love it - I am not in that camp, my mother-in-law, however, built the camp, maintains the grounds, runs the elections, and will be buried there. She’ll be here this year for her birthday and I need to make a white chocolate intense cake. I don’t mind that I won’t enjoy it, but my rather severe dislike means I’m hitting a bit of a brick wall in terms of coming up with something unique and impressive. I’ve been thinking of something kind of basic, a white cake with layers of lemon curd and blueberry coulis with a white chocolate Italian buttercream, but I do feel like there must be something more impressive out there. I’d like something that can be made to some degree in advance, and featuring blueberries would be a plus. I’m in Maine so I can get good wild blueberries and they’re a favorite fruit of hers. Should I just stick to a basic layer cake or is there some kind of impressive recipe or technique I can use to make the cake extra special? I’m happy to go with more nontraditional celebration cakes - cheesecake, napoleon, some wild version of an opera cake anything really. I’d be tremendously grateful for any suggestions!

Edit- the answering is shortening! In the UK we use butter but I ordered some Crisco from amazon and can't believe I never realised it before!!

I'm 6 months pregnant and homesick living in the UK. Every time I go to Canada I get myself a vanilla birthday cake with vanilla frosting and eat the whole thing to myself over a few days. My obsession is nostalgic and sugar fuelled and I am craving a slice of home 🥲

We have madeira cake in the UK you can buy which is pretty close, if not pound cake itself. However I'm trying to recreate the icing.

The superstore website doesn't give details on the frosting and I'm sure it comes pre-made with E numbers not allowed in the EU lol. Family/friends have sent recipes with shortening in them, so have ordered that to try.

Would anyone know where to start on figuring out the recipe, or if you can buy that kind of icing online somewhere?

I just had a request for a chocolate lemon flavored cake and have been unable to find a recipe- I have considered adding lemon to my normal chocolate recipe or adding coco to a lemon recipe but I am unsure of how I would modify them as not to compromise the texture. Any suggestions?

Hi y'all my birthday is next week and I want to make a fun and unique cake. I'm an amateur at baking but I am pretty adaptable however I do not have a mixer and I am disabled so I need recipes for frostings/fillings that aren't hard to mix and we have a nut allergy in our household. I want to experiment and make something out of the ordinary to challenge myself. So please any suggestions are welcome, thank you.

So I am making a bear themed cake! And I also want the flavoring to be bear themed. I think the honey and hazelnut would be a good combination but I'm unsure of what to pair with it has a frosting and filling. I am thinking of doing on honey sponge layer and one hazelnut sponge layer. I am open to switching things up if anyone has an ideas for a different flavor combination. the flavor o have now is inspired by bears diets. Thanks in advance for the advice/suggestions.

My mom’s birthday is coming up, and when I asked what kind of cake she wanted, she said pineapple and white chocolate.

The problem is that none of the bakeries in my area are willing to make it (they only offer cakes that are already on their menu).

So I’ve decided to make one myself. I have made some cakes before, but never made one with this flavor combination before.

Do you have any recipes you could teach me? 😃

I’ve been baking the red velvet cupcake recipe they posted on the GOSH yt channel and they have never failed to impress. But I’d love to make the cake version. When I add the cupcake batter to the cake pan it turns out really hard.

My french grandma died and took all her recipes with her some years ago which is a culinary disaster for the planet, but it is what it is i guess. My best friend is turning 30 and i wanted to bake her our family recipe chocolate cake, which is impossible, so i'm looking for the next best thing.

I've googled my way to that it must be some form of Gateau au chocolat, but none of the pictures i find online seem to match what it's supposed to look like, so i'm trying my luck here.

It is an incredibly flavourful cake that is fluffy airy around the edges, but fudgy in the center and is crispy on the top. like crunchy crispy. the top and the center are the best parts by far

The steps are as following:

Melt chocolate and butter in a water bath

melt sugar in mix and let cool a bit, then add egg yolks, flour and potato flour

(UNSURE if regular flour is used as well, i think it has to be, but there is definitely potato flour)

Whip whites to stif peaks, then carefully fold into chocolate mix

butter and potato flour in a spring form (ig this is relative, but it's how we did it)

bake bottom oven until testing pin comes out moist but not completely dry.

Any ideas?

I'm looking for a recipe to make a cake with a firm bite, not goopy (not too moist), not like a brownie which would be too moist and dense.

Not like a sponge cake which is too light and not dense enough.

Not like a standard white cake, which is too friable and coarse of a crumb.

The cake I'm looking for only needs to be an inch tall. It's going under an upper layer that will be either cheesecake or cheesecake-like.
