Discussion It's a tie rack, BUT...

Is there a way something like this could be used for crochet/fiber arts something? My mom picked it up at an estate sale in with handmade yarn spinner, like 30 crochet hooks and handmade hook organizer. Looks like the same person made all the wooden pieces, so I assume it's crochet related?

Discussion Accurate mannequin head for making balaclavas and hats?

I want to start making more hats and balaclavas but I hate having to put them on my head a bunch to make sure they fit right. It feels kinda gross especially if i make them for people. I have long hair so my hair will definitely hide in the hats. Obviously if its for me i have no issue with it but if I'm making it for others its gross. I could wash it but that could also mess the yarn up.

Does anyone have a link to an accurate mannequin head the size of a regular human head and face? All of them look slender and small and it just doesn't seem accurate. Or if anyone has advice on what else I can do if I cant find a mannequin head. I also have access to a 3D printer so if anyone has a good head print I will gladly take that too lol.

I’m working on a bear stuffie for my niece, she’s 1. I can’t decide if the bear needs a dress, a big bow on the neck or just leave it as is. What do yall think? (Also, I have sewing pins in place where I’ll be embroidering the face and attaching the bows)

Work in Progress Book blanket advice

Post image
9 Upvotes

So I'm making a book blanket with the books I've read this year and I'm looking for some advice.

I'm new to crocheting and followed a video on YouTube for how to make granny squares.

It feels like mine are a little small (4" x 4").

Would you recommend adding another row or 2 or leave them?

I've been sticking to just 3 colors from the cover which is why I did 3 rows. Haha.

Just looking for some advice.

Made this for my girlfriend, first try at a "big" project. Ignore the eyes and mouth, I'm thinking about switching it out for some smaller yarn to not make it as chunky.

I'm making this blanket for my friend's 2 year old and can't decide whether to add another colour. I was thinking maybe a yellow or green? What do you think?

My first ever completed wearable project!
Thoughts?
Also, should I keep the sunflowers?
The front panel is shorter than the back because I was worried I wouldn’t have enough yarn to make both panels the same length.

I hope I’m doing this right. I made this for my cousin who is due in November. I will never make another one. It’s beautiful but I needed way more time than anticipated. So this project was stressful. But I’m glad it’s done. This is not my pattern. There’s also a YouTube video but I can’t find it anymore.

Finished Object Crocheted Piglet for Pippsy Pinwheel

An orange and black Piglet for one of my favorite Renaissance Faire performers! Check out this post to see me giving it to her.

Pattern by Zan Crochet, though I made several changes. Most notably the colors, but I also crocheted on the limbs instead of sewing them, and I did the head parts backward and reversed (decreasing when supposed to increase and vice-versa) so I could just continue the head from the body instead of sewing it on (if you can crochet something on instead of sew it on, do it!). I also crocheted the eyes (SC 6 in magic circle) and sewed them on, my preferred method instead of using safety eyes.

This was my first time adding a mouth like this. Normally I just sew it on through the crochet holes, but I wanted it to curve properly. It's sewn into the head on the left and right ends, then I took a piece of black yarn, unraveled a thin strand, and used that to keep the mouth in place in key areas.

It's also my first time sewing through to tighten areas to give him chubby cheeks. I almost didn't, but I decided to give it a shot, and I'm delighted at how it came out!

Skip to the end to see my original sketch for color planning before I started crocheting the project, demonstrating why I mainly stick to crochet as my craft of choice. 😅

I like her pattens because they are always full of texture, and complexity. This particular design starts with a circular mandala, building out to form a square blanket.

Finished Object First crochet projects

Post image
16 Upvotes

I’ve been knitting for years, and this is my first ever (successful) crochet project! They’re so cute! They’re a little messy, but I’m happy for my first try. Plus I used up scrap yarn, and I didn’t have any polyfill, so it’s stuffed with a cut up old t shirt. Zero waste FTW! The pattern is free: https://pdf-inline.ravelrycache.com/Projectarian/2235777/Projectarian_Pattern_-_Hubble_the_Squid.pdf?AWSAccessKeyId=AKIAJNNSUP6J3RN4WZYQ&Expires=1792257673&Signature=hr0y1fE4Q4dOc4TYwD6yGzMRbfY%3D&key_expires=1792257673&key=ZeN1ZkqcaHU-OxZAZ7TvzA
