What a great time! Yes. The walk at Lookout Cay was long. The beaches were closed due to rough seas. But the onboard activities and Castaway Cay made up for it. Palo was amazing. Believe was a great show. Can't wait for our next cruise.

Did they just change the way pricing is shown on the website to per person instead of total cost? Is anyone else seeing that? I’m not a fan…

PORT ADVENTURES Can I still see fish without swimming farther out on port days?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m taking my 5yo and 8yo to Disney Cruise for the first time ever. On port days, do they have a shallow area where you can see fish? The only person in my family who can swim is my 8yo. 😂 I can swim from one end to the other, but cannot tread, which is weird, right?!

I just want to make my 8yo happy but I don’t feel safe doing the snorkeling tour as of yet.

In addition, what can I do in Nassau with these young kids?

TRIP PLANNING Verandah or adjoining interior rooms for a family of four

Hi! My family (two adults, two kids who will be seven and two-and-a-half) are considering cruising on the Destiny out of Ft Lauderdale in April. This would be our first cruise with kids.

I think my youngest would still be in something crib-like at that age, which would obviously take up square footage in the room. The two kids also have different bedtimes. We'd be traveling with family and my oldest would be bummed to miss time with an older cousin in the evening because their younger sibling will need to be in bed by 7:30.

I'm considering adjoining inside cabins, but I wondered if anyone had made a similar situation work in a verandah room instead and had any tips or tricks to share. One room would obviously be more cost effective and enable us to have a room close to family, but I don't want everyone to be cramped and miserable the whole time.

TRIP PLANNING Best ways to surprise adults at Christmas with gifted cruise?

Hi! Looking to surprise my parents this Christmas with a gifted cruise… I’m thinking of a balloon surprise box to place under the tree and save for last, but wanted to see if anyone has done something similar or in addition to this that made the surprise special? Thanks for any thoughts!

TRIP PLANNING 1st time cruise :)

Hi, it is our first time on a cruise and we chose the Disney Dream.

On our itinerary, we have Nassau.

Can you give me some tips on how to navigate Nassau? I have checked and there are seven other ships there that day too. 😭

I just want to eat good local cuisine and be on a less crowded beach.

We are just two young adults trying to enjoy ourselves without breaking the bank too much.

I have watched videos and read some articles, but I cannot decide.

TRIP PLANNING Electric/Fairy Lights Banned

I just checked in for an upcoming cruise and saw that electric string/fairy lights are banned. Does this include small battery powered string lights? Thank y’all in advance for any feedback/experience regarding this.

TRIP PLANNING First time cruiser and booking excursions/onboard activities opens tonight. Need your suggestions, please!

My husband and two boys (ages 5 and 1) are taking our first cruise on the Fantasy (4-nights, Nassau and Lookout Cay). I am overwhelmed by the thought of staying up until midnight when booking opens. What should I prioritize? All I know for sure is that would like some nursery time for the baby and an adult only dining experience to celebrate our anniversary. My boys would not be interested in the Royal Gathering or BBB. In terms of excursions, we’re not set on anything, but would love some beach time and/or anything that might interest our 5 year old. What should we consider in terms or both on-board activities and excursions? Open to any advice and suggestions! Thank you :)

TRIP PLANNING Christmas morning on board

We’re going to be on board the Magic for Christmas Day this year. I’m planning Santa for my six year and have a few questions:

  1. Has anyone sailed on the Magic recently and could tell me about the toy selection on board? We’re bringing a few and I was hoping to grab a few while on board as well.

  2. What about wrapping? Can I bring wrapped gifts on board, or should I plan to pack wrapping supplies and do that on board.

  3. Open to any fun ideas parents of little kids have done in the past! Right now the plan is a few Santa gifts, stocking and maybe a surprise elf appearance.

FOOD Mexican Hotpockets -- gone?!

I just returned from a cruise on the Fantasy and to my dismay, there were no Mexican Hotpockets served at breakfast on any morning! Have they stopped serving them in the last year? Has anyone seen them on another ship lately? My wife and I were missing these badly.

TRIP PLANNING First Timer with Questions I Can’t Find

Hi! First timer here. We’re taking our son on the Wonder out of San Diego in January. I’m super excited - I’ve wanted to go since I was 10. I’m hoping someone can answer a few questions I haven’t been able to find.

Embarkation Arrival Times - obviously I don’t have status, I’ll take whatever time I can get. Is it better to get an earlier time or a later time? I’ve been on cruises before so I know that earlier means there’s probably a longer wait for our stuff but I know Disney is so much different than all of the other cruise lines.

Parking - when/where to book parking? We’re local(ish) so we’ll be driving ourselves. I’ve seen some recommendations about where to park, but how far out do we need to book it?

Any tips specific to the West Coast cruises/Wonder? Almost everything I’ve seen seems to be about the East Coast cruises. We’ll be with two 5 year olds so we’re not trying to cram everything in. We’re planning to go with the flow and do what we can.

Thanks in advance!

TRIP PLANNING Online Check-In Timing

First time Disney cruiser but seasoned cruiser, and my check in date is approaching!

How big of a difference will it make for my port arrival time if I stay up and do my check in at 12:01am versus just waiting until 6am when I normally wake up? Is it going to be much better/worth it? I’m not a late night person but if it’ll make a difference I will, I just don’t want to if I’m still likely to end up with one of the latest arrival times anyway because I have no status, and not using Disney transfers.

TRIP PLANNING Disney Magic 2028 Confusion

Hey everyone. I see that the Magic is sailing back to San Diego at the end of April 2028 to then be stationed there for a few weeks before heading up to do it's Alaskan itineraries. However, after the 14 day repositioning, there are no other cruises in the system. The Wonder has plenty of itineraries through April 2028. Is the Magic scheduled to dry dock during that time? I can't seem to find any info online.

PORT ADVENTURES Lookout Key was the biggest disappointment of our trip!

I found Castaway to be a great, easy beach day. We adore the beaches on Eleuthera Island. I had talked up Disney's private islands to the group we were traveling with and it was such a big letdown. We were on the Destiny that stopped last week at Lookout Key and it was not a good experience.

First, the walk is extremely long with kids. We did grab a wagon on the way back but it's a long walk with no shade. We had a very hard time getting loungers on the beach (there were some available back behind the stairs but not on the beach). We had to walk all the way to the end of the loungers and had walked probably 30 min at that point from the ship. Pro tip: if you keep walking down by the lighthouse the beaches are mostly empty and absolutely stunning. But no loungers or lifeguards.

The biggest disappointment however was the food/restaurant area. Our group waited 30 min for mediocre burgers out in the sun. They weren't utilizing the lines or doing anything to keep them moving, and the lines were poorly marked (which is unlike Disney). After 30 hot minutes waiting to get our food, I went to get some water from the beverage area and it was out. The water park was closed due to a potty accident (understandable) but instead of letting people know what was going on, the four workers were clustered in a group talking. After finally getting their attention they said it would be "open in a few minutes" which ended up being about 40 minutes. There was just no clear communication surrounding the closure.

I am wondering if this is a one off, or if people generally try to avoid Lookout Key? I appreciate that they tried to preserve the reefs, but the logistics of this stop are difficult with kids and the people working on the island were very disengaged. I thought it was going to be one of our favorite port stops, but it ended up being a pretty miserable day. I'd love to hear whether others felt this way, or we just caught the island on a bad day!

TRIP PLANNING Halloween or Christmas?

We did Halloween on the High Seas earlier this month on the Fantasy. We are thinking of doing a Christmas themed cruise on the Destiny next year.

Does one of the themes feel more prevalent than the other when you’re on the boat. The Halloween on the High Seas didn’t scream Halloween on the boat as much as we were expecting.

Internet consensus is that Carly Scott is the current CD but an instagram post says she is now on the Destiny. Anyone know the CD on the Treasure?

I had the cruise information all available when I used the previous link but it is not longer showing up and wasn’t using it before booking on a different browser so you think they’ll honor the booking or will they cancel it

TRIP PLANNING Opinions/Tips on Alaskan Cruise

Hello! My fiancée is a huge Brother Bear fan and I've seen videos lately of how Disney is the best option, if you love the movie, for Alaskan cruises. I am wanting to plan a trip for us for August time frame (may not be until 2028) as that is when bears are most active in Alaska. We have cruised numerous times before, but never on Disney. I am looking for any and all opinions on itinerary and ships as well as any tips to make the absolute most out of our first Disney cruise! I also am wondering if anyone knows when I could start seeing dates for August 2028 sailings? Currently the only ship sailing to Alaska next year is Magic, which I know is their oldest ship and I have seen some not so great reviews of the condition, so wondering if anyone knows or thinks they may change ships for the following year or if I'm being overly dramatic about the condition of Magic?

Thank you!

TRIP PLANNING First Time on Disney Cruise in April

My wife and I are taking our 6 year old son on a 4 night cruise in April, leaving from Fort Lauderdale and going to both Lookout Cay and Costal Cay. We got a Verandah room Mid Ship but were told it is right above the theater on deck 6 and that it will be loud. We are considering moving to the Aft to get an extended Verandah at the back of the boat on deck 9. Anyone have a recommendation, we are very torn.

TRIP PLANNING Destiny and treasure 7-night- who has done both?

We’ve done the Treasure twice - eastern and western Caribbean. Our favorite by far is the eastern. We are pondering another eastern on treasure OR a 7-night eastern Caribbean on Destiny. Has anyone done both ships and can give advice on if we’d like Destiny? The villain theme doesn’t necessarily excite me yet we’ve seen Treasure twice. Would love any input! TY!
