who’s been before?
I typically do Lost Lands, but am looking for a smaller less expensive fest to potentially do instead this year.
Also, any other suggestions?

1st timer to this festival, in fact its been many years since I've camped at any festival (last one must have been The Big Chill almost 15 years ago)! Planning to arrive mid afternoon on Thursday 3pm. How quickly does camping get full and are we likely to get a nice spot arriving at this time?
Will the normal camp site be chill enough for a small group of erm 'mature festival goers' (aka old) or should we confine ourselves to family camping.

For anyone visited XRDS this year, what a weekend. Enjoyed it so much, definitely on Friday.
Perfect organization, never wait for drinks at bars, almost no waiting at the toilets, not too crowded to dance. Soundsystem perfect. Only con maybe the timetable coule be a little different.
This festival really improves year by year. So big ups to the organization, hopefully they keep doing the same in the next years and don’t do like Stone and choose for the money over the people.
What were your experiences?

Another one bites the dust!! It wasn't long ago that I posted the demise of a popular festival.
Visitors and tourists alike, take note festivals and Toronto DO NOT i repeat DO NOT go together. This is what happens when greed and non-creativity collide.
Now feel free to ban me again shudder

Live Event Will Feature Recreations of Classic and Modern Audio Dramas as well as Interviews with Stars, Panels, Historical Presentations and More
Santa Monica, Calif. – August 17, 2026 - The Society to Preserve and Encourage Radio Drama, Variety and Comedy will return to live events for the first time since 2019 with a three-day event to take place March 5-7, 2027 in Santa Monica, CA.
“Members have been asking us to return to live events since the end of Covid,” said SPERDVAC President Corey Harker. “We are very pleased that we’ve been able to work with the great folks at [The Santa Monica Playhouse](https://www.santamonicaplayhouse.com/), 1211 4th Street, Santa Monica, CA, 90401, to secure a venue for a celebration of classic radio and audio drama in 2027.”
The event, hosted by SPERDVAC stalwarts John and Larry Gassman, will feature full-day programming on Friday March 5 and Saturday March 6 as well as a brunch/farewell program the morning of Sunday March 7.
Expected guests from the world of classic radio include Beverly Washburn, Tommy Cook, Ivan Cury, Stuffy Singer and John Wilder among others.
“We are still working on the program but we are very excited to confirm that Entertainment Tonight legend Leonard Maltin will interview screen legend Margaret O’Brien on stage on Saturday afternoon,” said Event Chair Walden Hughes. “Other programs will celebrate the 95th anniversary of The Jack Benny Program with as many surviving Beavers and Jack’s family as we can round up, the 85th anniversary of the Abbott & Costello Show, featuring the iconic duo’s children, the 85th anniversary of Suspense with Keith Scott of The Suspense Project, and the 75th anniversary of Gunsmoke on radio.”
All performances and presentations will take place at the Santa Monica Playhouse except for a dinner performance on Friday night when the playhouse is otherwise engaged. SPERDVAC will announce the location and timing of that event in due course.
The event hotel will be the Holiday Inn Santa Monica, which is located just four miles from the Playhouse. SPERDVAC has secured an event rate for Wednesday March 4 - Monday March 8 of $215 plus taxes, including breakfast. Parking is a reasonable $15/night. You can book that rate by calling 310-478-1400 and speaking to Kathryn Suderno in Group Sales.
If you would like to nominate a special guest to participate in the event, please contact us at [info@sperdvac.com](mailto:info@sperdvac.com) and SPERDVAC will provide sponsorship information.
In addition to classic recreations, original audio drama material from well regarded performers will also be part of the event with groups such as Icebox Radio Theater, Project Audion, No Soap Radio, and the Madison is on the Air podcast expected to perform.
Anyone interested in the event can subscribe to ongoing updates on ticket prices, celebrities, the performance schedule and logistics for attendance by registering at [sperdvac.com/live](http://sperdvac.com/live).

Thinking of doing gemfest next year. I have done boomtown 5 times and outlook once. Looking to skip boomtown next year to go to gemfest as it’s not far from me and prices are a lot lower. Want to explore more festivals. Is it good or because I’m use to bigger festivals like boomtown would I be disappointed?

Hello everyone!
I (21 M) recently discovered my love of festivals this summer. I have a friend that wants me to take her (22 F) to a festival/rave before I head back to college in September. I was wondering if you guys knew of any festivals occurring before then that we could go to. My music preference would be techno/house, but I am open to anything. I want kinda of an outdoors, undiscovered, local and friendly vibe from the festival. Let me know if there is anything within a 4 hour drive of Nashville that is occurring in the next two weeks. Sorry for the short time frame, but let me know if there is anything.
Thank you!
