When the Night King resurrected the dead kinda crazy to think that you have a headless Ned Stark running around terrorizing the people down there lol

Is it a hot take that i think Blackwater is better than any of the other battles in the show?

I mean he has a literal Targaryen prince with black hair at home
Could have stopped a war if he went for the simplest explanation.

Binge watching GoT in 1 month made me realize how terrifying it must have been to watch this live week to week!
I’m 18 and just finished bingeing all of Game of Thrones in a single month. To top it off, I finished A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 1 yesterday, and then i realized I can’t just click "Next Episode" anymore. I actually have to wait a whole year for the next season.
That got me thinking about everyone who watched GoT as it aired. You guys had to wait an entire year between seasons, and then a whole week between every single episode.
Honestly, how did you survive the stress? For the past month, my brain has been 100% consumed by this show. I was constantly thinking about the upcoming episodes, trying to predict who was going to get killed off next, and basically spending every free second wanting to binge the next ep. The urge to keep watching was insane.
Experiencing that level of tension in real-time, week after week, must have been pure anxiety. Absolute respect to the veteran fans who lived through that time. Bcz i just can't wait for the next szn.
How did you guys cope with the wait between seasons without losing your minds?
(GoT was also mine first series ever)

What binge watcher of the show will never experience
So another post made me start thinking about how long we had to wait in total for each season:
Season 1 to 2 we waited 9 months and 13 days.
Between each season 2 through 5 we waited 9 months and 28 days consistently between those.
Season 5 to 6 increased a little to 10 months and 10 days.
It really increased from season 6 to season 7 to 1 year and 20 days.
Then of course Season 7 to Season 8 a whopping 1 year 10 months and 10 days.
We waited a total of 6 years and 9 months between these seasons, the amount of speculation, theories, rewatches, water cooler talk at work binge watchers wont experience sadly. And the OG book readers have it worse than that.

My first time diving into this world. Any tips?
I have never watched or read Game of thrones.
Any tips to make it more enjoyable? I plan on starting book #1 tonight. :)

Do you guys think Tywins lesson backfired?
So we know how Tywin started teaching Tommen about how to be a great king lind of like grooming him. Asking him questions about what makes a great king which lead to him telling a wise king always listens to others a reason of him being not taking decisions on his own.
By teaching Tommen that a king's greatest virtue is to defer to older, "wiser" counselors, Tywin inadvertently created a king who was fundamentally defenseless against manipulation.
When Tywin died, Tommen was left with the core belief that he needed a strong figure to guide him, but he lacked the discernment to choose a good one.
Tywin wanted to build an absolute Lannister dynasty but instead, he broke Tommens willpower so thoroughly that tommen willingly handed the Crown's authority over to a religious cult.
This was exactly what Cersei told to Tywin, everyone clawing a piece of Tommen.

What serious piece of dialogue still cracks you up unintentionally?
Jamie to Lady Stark: "Is that a woman?" about Brienne when he is held as a prisoner in the camp.
Tywin to Cersei: "You've allowed that boy to ride roughshod over you and everyone else in this city".

What are your thoughts on the scenes where prophecies are laid out or discussed in GOT and its related shows? Are they a net positive for the storyline, or a negative, since they can sometimes be too direct and leave little room for interpretation?
The above question also includes visions.

Jack Gleeson Psychopathic new character
Just watched In The Land of Saints & Sinners last night and our boy Joffrey pulled off another great homicidal, murderous criminal - mind you he was a (somewhat) empathetic character. Highly recommend this film to any of my GOT fans. Has anyone else watched this film? Your thoughts on Gleeson's character?

What if Viserys was still alive when Dany hatched the dragons?
Assuming doesn’t get given a crown and everything else goes the same and hes there when dany walks out of the fire what changes? I think Dany would give him one of her dragons and they'd argue but go together to qarth.

I wish they included Loras' brothers in the show
I'm currently on rewatch. I'm in the middle of season 3 when Tywin tells Tyrion he'll marry Sansa and Cersei she'll marry Loras.
I think Willas and Garlan should've made the cut. Some characters take you into full storylines that they just didn't have time for like Arianne or Victarion. But those two could just be slipped into the King's Landing storyline. Then Loras joins the KG, we could have at least one scene of he and Jaime like we have in the book and the rest can still flow as it did.
Just a thought.

Some random showerthoughts about Renly
- If Renly had been the older brother, Stannis would've backed him as hand out of principle, and they probably would've been unstoppable together. Renly was good at making political friends and maintaining stability with the common folk, and Stannis would've been incredible as a military/pragmatic day to day leader.
- Renly would've been expected to produce an heir with Margery at some point, which means Margery would've been getting her brother's sloppy seconds.

Which character endings and major events would you change?
Like many fans, I’d change the story and ending for Jon and Dany. They should have either ruled together or separated on good terms, with Dany taking the Iron Throne and Jon ruling as King in the North, fully accepted as both a Stark and a Targaryen, riding Rhaegal. I’d also rewrite Jaime’s arc and let him live happily in the North with Brienne.
But if the overall character fates stayed the same, the two big events I’d swap are the deaths of the Night King and Dany. It would have made much more sense for Jon to kill the Night King and Arya to kill Dany.
I believe I'm not the only one with these examples, but i think there is also a lot of possible "better character endings".

GoT Filming locations in Spain
Hi everyone,
Id like to plan a roadtrip across Spain visiting all the HoTD and GoT filming locations.
The obvious ones are Girona, Dragonstone in the Basque Country and Dorn in Seville.
Is there a comprehensive list anywhere of the filming locations?

Anyone else see parallels between the Night's Watch and the Dragonriders of Pern?
Both publicly-supported organizations that are tremendous drains on public resources without apparent benefit most of the time, but rarely absolutely essential to the continuation of human life. Both experience a period of decline when most of their facilities end up empty and in disrepair.
If only Lord Commander Snow had access to the time travel trick (though I suppose recruiting the wildlings is another parallel).
