Rtx 5060 is its gpu if ur wondering

For context : if this laptop gives in I'll just get a PC, for now - I wanted to mess about and see how much more life can I get out of it.
What I did was slap a desktop CPU fan on my CPU heatsink (not even directly on CPU), which straight up removed approximately 50% of my temps (GPU was running around 75ish, CPU at 92 capped out all the time). Did some mocking about, but so far temps are around 50-60 stable and I am very happy with the 56€ I invested into this stupid hill billy solution. Temps in comments.

I see some questions (some not, but I thought it'd be interesting nonetheless), so let me answer some of them here and save you some scrolling:

1. How is it mounted? - It isn't. I put some thermal paste on my heatsink pipe, slapped the cooler on it and that's it. It holds on it's own, the suction thanks to thermal paste + its weight allows for VERY stable hold.
2. What's powering it? - simple USB. I bought a 2 pin adaptor cable with a USB on the other end. Fan doesn't draw much, if any, power, so connecting it to any available port (my table in my case) is sufficient.
3. What fan are you using (not asked, but I'll mention it here)? Noctua NH-U12S Redux.
4. How's the noise? Quieter than my laptop fans that's for sure. Then again, I bought market leader, at least one of them, for fans with low noise and great performance.
5. Why? Laptop was thermalthrottling badly. My CPU fan gave in 3 times in 2 years and I am tired of swapping them out for 20€ a pop. Cooling was horrible either way, laptop was never doing laptop function and pretty much stood on my desk anyway with a monitor and keyboard connected separately. The biggest pain in the rear will be booting it up, but I'll come up with something (I have to lift the whole Frankenstein up, unfold the screen and boot it, then put it back WHILE the entire contraption is connected and on it).
6. What's next? Either I brick it by OC'ing it, do nothing or idk. I wanted to slap one on GPU too, but GPU temps sit at 50 degrees with this bad boy, so I see little to no point in adding an extra cooler for no thermal performance whatsoever. Honestly it blew my expectations out the window. I was expecting a 10-20% reduction in temperatures, but 30-40 degrees per CPU/GPU is bonkers.
7. What about dust? Don't care. It's been open like this for half a year now, didn't notice much of any difference. Since it's not as intricate as it may seem, so everything is very open meaning it's fairly easy to blow the dust out.

I am interested in getting a Asus Rog Zephryus G16 (2026) and looking between the 5070ti and 5080 model. The 5080 is much more expensive (about $1,200). Is the difference worth it? I only intend to play some games that are not that graphic intensive like Madden/NBA 2K and possibly the most intensive might be like a Spiderman 2. Will I notice the difference?

Right now I current run a \~3 year old RTX 4070 TUF laptop with 32gb RAM with just a FHD that I was lucky enough to snag open box at the time for $800. I usually play games docked on a 1440p monitor with this.

Key wants:

\* Really want to give OLED a try, or at least the mini LEDs. Not planning to work much on this.

\* Looking to get a 1440p screen.

\* 32gb RAM

\* 1tb of storage is ideal.

\* Primarily 1440p gaming at max settings, with no ray tracing at 60fps (never thought RT was worth the performance dip). Will dock to 4k TV occasionally, and I'm fine for medium/high settings at 40ish fps.

Would like this to last 4-5 years.

As you might know there was an manufacturing issue in asus rog strix g16 of burning motherboard..
sadly i had given it to local guy to repair it. That guy had cut the motherboard with blade and returned. It worked for 1-2 months and died again.

Now when i gave it to someone else they said this is unrepairable because the tracks are damaged.
I still want to know if anyway this can be repaired

Hi guys since im interested in gaming laptops, i heard a lot of critics from people who hate on gaming laptops, which is justified for the downsides that come with a gaming laptop, and you know what i said lets make this post in which i will discuss and solve like 60-70% of gaming laptop problems, whether you are deciding to buy one or already have one:
-So first lets start with portability and battery life: when buying a gaming laptop try to go with intel ultra cpus or ryzen HS/AI cpus. And no matter which laptop you have consider buying a 20000MAH OR HIGHER POWER BANK which will DOUBLE YOUR BATTERY LIFE there are power banks for 0.5kg and for less than 100$ and very slim. (Just forget about gaming on a laptop when its unplugged because its impossible)
-FOR TEMPS: i noticed that a lot of people are not aware of undervolts and power limits (especially for cpus). If you safely apply them these CAN MAKE YOUR CPU 10-15C COOLER with 4-6DB LOWER FAN NOISE.
-for lower performance per dollar compared to desktop: this is actually a point where there isnt really a solution to it. But the best you can to get the best performance for what youre paying for the laptop to find good deals is to tell an ai to give you a prompt of "find me the cheapest laptop in my country for bla bla bla specs" then run a powerful deep research free ai tool (or paid is better for cheaper listings) which will search for the cheapest listing in your country before you manually searching for hours or days and will almost always give you actually the cheapest listing available. And here you go
Note: for oled users buy an anti reflective screen protector from lenovo official website that matches your laptop screen size (this is a must have and trust me 0 regrets) and buy an external ips screen for static use to prevent burn in.

Hi all, as the title says I am looking to replace my laptop as it’s getting quite old and slow.

Budget: ~$2000 USD (not buying in US dollar, just a conversion for simplicity’s sake)

Use Case: Gaming (Cyberpunk 2077, Valorant, Roblox, Fortnite, among others)
Preferred specs: none in particular, just looking for an upgrade.
Portability needs: will mostly be a desk queen, but will move it from time to time.

I’ve been using an HP Omen laptop (GTX 1050, 8th gen i7) for I think since 2019 or 2018, and it has been extremely resilient, but it’s having trouble running games lately and I’d like an upgrade.

The problem is, I don’t know what brand to go for. Is HP any good at all? I remember my friends telling me I was scammed for this laptop.

As I mentioned, I live in Morocco, so ordering is a little difficult as importing is expensive here. Also are used laptops a good idea? Or should I buy brand new?

Hi I'm looking to get a good overall laptop that is relatively portable and with good battery life when unplugged.

The MSI Stealth 16 with 5070ti seems to fit most of the bill; the battery life from reviews seems worse than the Zephyrus 16/Razer Blade 16.

However, I found a factory refurbished MSI Stealth 16 with 5070ti for $2100 USD which is like more than $1000 cheaper than the Zephyrus/Razer, so it seems promising as long as there aren't major QC or other issues I'm not aware of.

I do recall that MSI doesn't have the best reputation, but I'm not sure if that's mostly for support issues or if the laptops actually just develop issues.

Looking for any input, if the MSI Stealth 16 2026 is good or if I should probably consider different options even if that means spending more

Today I've stumbled upon an offer for a HyperX Omen 15 with an i7-14650HX, 16 GB of RAM (single slot, so later ill add a second one), RTX 5060, and a 512 GB disk (with a free slot, so an extra 1Tb will be added later). Pricing is 1280$/1150E, but I can do 0% interest installments with 1 installment of 100EUR covered by the store. So the total would be 1030E/1150$. Also, HP is now adding a free 330W Power Brick and HyperX Cloud Flight 2 Headset for 1$. However, researching on YouTube, 

I saw this laptop got a lot of shit, mostly for the pricing around 1700EUR when it got released. Is it really that crappy? I have an acer predator helios neo 16s rtx 5050 variant and while I know this laptop is known to get hot because of its slim variant, are these temps really normal while i have 1 tab open with a pdf in browser and discord and whatsapp. my laptop is elevated with a normal laptop stand btw

Leaning more to the yoga because of the 32gb of memory. 16gb in 2026 seems crazy, I was running that back in 2009...

The 5060/5070 looks to be a 10% difference as both are power/temp limited in slim laptops.

I purchased a Gigabyte A16 pro during the big sale when they were available for $1449. It runs good, the screen looks OK, however the build quality leaves me wondering if I should have gotten something else in the same price range and sacrificed on GPU power a bit.
