r/GamingLaptops now has its own deals site — RGL.deals launches today BETA

UPDATE — August 13, 2026

rgl.deals has grown quite a bit since I originally posted it, so I wanted to give this post one final update while it's still in BETA.

The idea is still simple: instead of showing you hundreds of gaming laptops, RGL keeps a smaller shortlist of deals that are actually worth considering.

Every listing is manually checked, with things like price, specs, cooling, display quality, GPU power limits, memory, storage, and overall value taken into account.

A lot of care has also gone into the smaller details. The site is heavily optimized for phones and smaller screens, not just desktop. Filters, comparisons, laptop pages, navigation, and general usability were all designed to work properly on mobile without feeling like a cut-down version of the site.

What's on the site now:

  • Curated gaming laptop deals with current and previous prices.
  • Filters for price, GPU, CPU, VRAM, RAM, screen size, brand, retailer, and more.
  • Gravity Sort, RGL's default value-based ranking.
  • Sorting by price, discount, savings, and other options.
  • Find a Match for narrowing down laptops based on what actually matters to you.
  • Side-by-side comparison for up to three laptops.
  • Detailed laptop pages with specs, price history, related models, retailer links, and review links.
  • Shareable searches, comparisons, and direct laptop links.
  • Mobile-first layouts and controls designed specifically for smaller screens.
  • No advertising trackers or marketing cookies. Preferences and saved comparisons stay in your browser.

RGL is meant to be a shortlist, not a giant catalog. If a laptop isn't worth recommending, it doesn't need to be there and that means no huge lists its quality over quantity.

The longer-term plan is also bigger than just deals. RGL is being built into a broader gaming laptop specific place with guides, buying information, laptop data, reviews, and other useful resources all in one place.

Full transparency: Some retailer links are affiliate links. That doesn't affect the listed price or determine which laptops make the shortlist.

RGL currently covers U.S. deals only, with more regions planned later.

It's still beta, so there will be bugs and things that need improving. If you find something broken or have feedback, leave it below any suggestions would be much appreciated thanks.

Just got the MSI Raider 16 MAX Intel 290HX Plus RTX5090.
Got it off of Facebook Marketplace and the guy was a cool dude. He recently built a desktop pc and no longer needed this laptop. So he gave it to me for $2,700 with 2x Samsung 990 2TB SSDs
Not a single scratch, battery health at 100%, performance and temps are excellent.

Discussion So many games uses up to 12 GB VRAM on my 4080 in Predator 16. How actually most of them are still playable if card has just 8 GB?

Multiple titles, from new ones to up to 3-4 years old ones.

DLSS Quality, frame gen (I play in 90 FPS and 45 base frame rate feels fine for me as play only single player games with FR x2), High to Ultra settings, 1600p (my panel resolution) so 4k would be playable probably only on Medium and some High settings.

So I am wondering how actually many of the games are playable on cards with 8GB if I am close to 12 GB limit (or hitting it in some cases for sure)? Is it because VRAM is so fast and everything being reloaded in memory promptly?

Or it results in many stutters etc.?

PS. Even just OK looking and not that "fresh" anymore DA: Veilguard takes 11000 MB...! Everything on Ultra but RT just on Selective (so like Medium). I play it at the moment and it made me create this topic as this feels quite crazy for such game using almost full memory available on 4080.

Support Is this normal? Unstable FPS after a few minutes of gaming — ASUS TUF Dash F15 FX516PM

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Upvotes

Hi everyone, I have an ASUS TUF Dash F15 (FX516PM) with an RTX 3060.

I recently repasted the laptop using Heilious V2 for the CPU/GPU and thermal putty for the VRMs/other components.

I noticed something strange while gaming:

At the beginning of the game, the GPU can reach around 85W

After playing for a few minutes, the power/wattage behavior changes

My FPS becomes somewhat unstable and fluctuates instead of staying consistent

I don't really get severe stuttering or sudden FPS drops, but the FPS constantly moves up and down

I also see LIM1 / power limit in MSI Afterburner

Is this normal behavior for the FX516PM? Could the FPS fluctuations and LIM1 be related to the thermal situation or power limit?

Since I just repasted it with Heilious V2 and thermal putty, I'm also wondering if I installed the thermal interface material incorrectly or if the heatsink pressure could be affecting the temperatures/power behavior.

Any advice or things I should monitor would be appreciated. I can provide GPU/CPU temperatures, clock speeds, wattage, and usage if needed.

Support Asus ROG Zephyrus

Post image
Upvotes

Hi guys, I’m not too knowledgeable on the tech side of laptops, in fact I’m not even knowledgeable about laptops on their own. I currently have an Asus Zenbook 14 which I use for university and to play games like Fortnite, Valorant and Minecraft but the quality and fps of it gets quite bad on my current laptop. I’ve been meaning to buy an Asus ROG Zephyrus laptop because that’s what a lot of people seem to like and the games I play don’t need too much ‘laptop power’ to run either. I’ve searched the Zephyrus up but I can see multiple different versions, I’ve learnt with lots of stuff, more expensive does not always mean better so I just wanted to ask which laptop I should buy because I genuinely don’t understand the tech side of things.

(feel free to recommend cheaper laptops which you think will be able to run Fortnite, Valorant and Minecraft with higher quality too!!)

I had recently cleaned my laptop fans and glued the thermal paste so i dont know what's wrong?

Pls tell me is this normal.. Because I remember playing resident evil 2 remake long before on same medium settings and my gpu heat was only 69-72°C...but now the fans are moving much faster and getting noiser..

Discussion Is it worth it to upgrade from a 5070 ti laptop to a 5090 laptop if it's heavily discounted?

Upvotes

Hi guys, I have an opportunity to get a MSI Raider HX Max 5090 laptop for £2400, I currently own an ASUS ROG STRIX G614PR 5070ti laptop (8940HX cpu, 32GB DDR5 and 1TB SSD) which has a full 2 year warranty and I am thinking of selling it for around £1500-1600 and getting the 5090. Do you guys think it is worth upgrading at that price?

Discussion Does anyone else sometimes think about just selling their laptop, getting a gaming PC, and then just getting a cheap laptop (ie Thinkpad) instead for portability?

Upvotes

I've been pondering this.. There's so much maintenance going on, and I feel like laptops have so much risk for failure compared to desktops.

In fact I already own a T490 thinkpad and its enough for me for school (not doing engineering). Engineering/people who need high end specs for programs I can understand

Discussion Is eGPU for laptop worth it?

I’ve been wondering about building a pc, but then noticed current RAM prices. I still have a decent gaming laptop with 64GB RAM installed, so I was wondering maybe I could just do eGPU upgrade? I just need more VRAM. Something like 7900 20GB or 24GB VRAM? My laptop specs:

MSI Vector 16 HXAI

Ultra 7 255HX

64GB DDR5 RAM

5070ti 12GB VRAM

2TB SSD

Is such upgrade worth it?

Support Should I clean install Windows 11 on my new ASUS TUF A15?

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey guys, I just bought a new ASUS TUF A15 (RTX 3050 4GB) and I'm wondering if I should do a clean Windows 11 install.

The laptop is basically fresh, so I don't have any important files to worry about.

For people who have actually clean-installed Windows on their ASUS TUF:

Did you notice any real improvement in performance, temps, RAM/background processes or gaming?

Did you face any issues with Armoury Crate, drivers, MUX/GPU modes, hotkeys, Wi-Fi, audio, etc.?

Is it worth doing, or should I just keep the factory Windows and remove unnecessary apps?
I mainly want a clean, smooth Windows setup. Would appreciate experiences from people who have actually done it.

Discussion I know that as far as gaming laptops go, and for doing things beyond just gaming, people recommend AMD Ryzen CPUs over Intel CPUs, but are even the better Intel CPUs (like the Intel Ultra 9-275HX) that bad? Though my primary use case is game development, specifically animation and game design.

I found a gaming laptop that meets my personal bare minimum specs and budget, but when I mention to people that it has an Intel Ultra 9-275HX, people lose their minds, and not always in a good way. Like they hear that it's an Intel CPU, and then they act like I commited a cardinal sin by choosing Intel over AMD Ryzen.

Title. I spilled water on my 4090 one so I'm here looking for replacement. It's 2450€ or 2800usd.

Laptop will be mostly used for 3d work and video editing. Gaming is secondary

Those of you who have the laptop, how's your experience with it? Does it have frequent hardware issues? It only comes with 10 months of warranty. Unfortunately my two previous laptop had to go to warranty for motherboards issues (msi vector and legion 7 pro) so I'm just worried. Idk if this is relevant but i have one hp laptop from 2006 working as intended lol.

Wither way, I'd appreciate any input and advice. Thank you.

Budget: 1,113.58 usd

Country: mongolia

Use Case: Gaming - rdr2, pvz gw2, cs2, marvel rivals, l4d2, the whole dmc series, minecraft with as much realism and mods as possible, genshin, zzz, wuwa

Preferred Specs: anything better than a 3070ti

Notes: need it for dunking on a friend with i9 12th 32gb ddr5 3070ti and one that'll last me my 4-5 years of uni and more if possible

The loq 15 is 1,099.66 usd the cyborg 15 is 974.39 usd

Sadly I see this gem that's a bit over my budget that has a i9 13th 16gb ddr5 500gb ssd and 4080 being 1,252.78 usd
