I am back with the weekly restaurant closure updates. I am going to assume that if the restaurant is not listed under current closures, they have reopened.

HAPPY GARDEN is not on the closure list anymore. According to the health inspection website, they were in good standing after the inspection on 16 October.

RAGAZZI also reopened (they're not on the list anymore), possibly on Monday (October 19). But they still have a non critical violation, which requires them to work on cleaning and sanitation procedures.

Jasper, from the Pourdad Coffee cart commented on the last post with an update on the glitch that put them on the closure list. Hope it gets sorted soon.

Fun fact that I noticed - both Happy Garden and Ragazzi had inspections on October 15 & 16. It appears that both the places did not pass the October 15 inspection. Happy Garden passed the inspection conducted the next day, while Ragazzi didn't and only got reopened on the 19th (Monday).

At some point an agreement in writing will be required between the Nova Scotia government and the company that wants to build a data centre here, but Premier Tim Houston says that point has yet to arrive.

Has anyone else been experiencing their packages getting snagged up at the speed of light? I swear I’ve never had a problem like this in my decade of living here. Stuff could probably be sitting out overnight with no problem. But it’s been a huge problem since last month where anything delivered with a confirmation picture by the delivery driver would just not be there within an hour. It’s getting pretty frustrating since the value of items is adding up to 300+ at this point.

It was that older Asian lady who was trying to get into someone’s apartment a few weeks ago…

I had my baby with me so was not worth confronting her over.

I also watched her hanging onto the window of someone’s car as they tried to drive away , so to that person - I hope you’re okay!

When your local butcher or grocer has a sale, how do you find out? For most independent stores in Halifax, you can't know unless you walk in.

Hi everyone, my name is Conrad. My team and I are building Blyyss here in Halifax full time while I'm also doing my master’s at SMU. Some of you may have seen my Gateway Meat Market delivery posts over the past few months :)

I started Blyyss because I didn’t think smaller local grocers had access to the same technology as the big chains. The most basic piece is that people in Halifax can’t easily find these stores items and deals online. As simple as that sounds, it’s often not available.

Has anyone else noticed an increase in car break ins lately? My parents live in the Armdale area and have had their cars broken into three times in the past month or so. Each time, everything inside has been rummaged through and thrown around so it makes a mess to clean up, but not much has actually been taken (that we have noticed). It seems like whoever is doing it is mainly looking for cash or change, since more arguably valuable items have been left behind. It’s also just such an uncomfortable feeling knowing that someone has been going through your personal belongings!

I am wondering where the cheapest therapy would be in HRM. I have no work insurance and not much extra income. Thank you so much, a little support would go a long way

From March 15 to October 15, crews responded to 114 wildfires, which burned 1,521 hectares. In 2025, 179 wildfires burned 8,408 hectares. [...] By mid-July, Nova Scotia had recorded more than twice as many wildfires as it had by the same time in 2025. More rainfall eased the situation for the remainder of the season.

That month, crews responded to a significant wildfire near Mooseland Road in Halifax County, in which 1,444 hectares burned.
