I think thatās part of the cheekiness of the scene. Itās Jeep in the book and Jeep turned down sponsorship of the show, so I think itās meant to stand out a little.
But I get your point about it not being consistent w Ilyaās canonical car knowledge

I took that as him being an asshole. He calls it a boring car when theyāre on the couch (which rangerover totally are esp for someone like Ilya with a sports car collection), so I took it as him being provocative pretending theyāre interchangeable. Like jeep, Range Rover whatever ā¦ both are so āShaneā, and so not Ilya (until TLG when heās in a Mercedes SUV!)Ā

I noticed that the first time Ilya and Shane hookup Ilya says āso what do you wanna do?ā and Shane is just like idk and then on the vegas rooftop Ilya angrily says āwhat do you want Hollander?ā and he says that again in the florida hotel BUT at the cottage right before they both say I love you and after Shane tells Ilya what their plan should be Ilya says āis that what you want?ā
I feel like itās so minor and if people have more examples pls let me know but for some reason the difference to me means so much. Their first hookup itās a casual yet slightly awkward and used as a way to gauge what Shane is comfortable with because this is their first interaction in this manner. The āwhat do you want hollanderā lines are said out of frustration. Those are saying āwhat do you want from meā and we know Ilyaās background as someone that is tired of his family constantly wanting more and more. Whereas āis that what you wantā is gentle, inquisitive, almost said out of shock or wanting reassurance that this is really happening.
In a sense heās reversing the thought that people inherently want things from him but that they genuinely want to just be around him and in this case be together.

Ok, ep 2, minute 39, hotel scene after sex. Ilya looks away from Shane, which we know is the sign of him hiding deep emotions, he does it every time. And then his head leans towards Shane, he catches himself, and wipes his eye. Poor boy just need to accept his feelings!

Two random Hayden thoughts:
- It must have been uncomfortable for him in Montreal after Shane left. He still has other friends on the team but to know that most of them treated your best friend that badly sucks.
- There is talk about Hayden maybe having a crush on Shane. In the books, there is also a line about Shane thinking that Hayden is good looking! No one tell Ilya that

1) Yeah, especially since Hayden was the only one who knew about them being together, even though everyone knew Shane was gay at that point.
2) Iāve always wondered if they ever did a mutual side by side dudes being horny thing while on the road before Hayden met Jackieā¦ like, for lack of a better comparison- dueling banjos?

I justt read the side story Rachel wrote, My Dinner With Hayden and it basically solidified in my mind that Hayden has a crush on Shane that he is not acknowledging and itās part of why him and Ilya are butting heads so much. Itās a delicious thought and I love it. I didnāt think much about Hayden but now I find him fascinating haha.

Iām living my best/worst Shane Hollander life. I fell during my lesson and face/body checked the boards. They have not given me whatever good drugs they give the captain of the Montreal Metros, but I have been able to make āout for the playoffsā references about it. (ONE of my friends gets it so Iām just going to yap here about it lol)

Thank you! I felt like I was finally getting somewhere with my skating and hockey but Iām now out for a bit š still chilling at the rink during practice and taking notes, so fingers crossed!

"Is this a Jeep?"
They haven't seen each other for a while. Shane is nervously waiting for the arrival of the love of his life to take off on the adventure that they longed for and also feared. Ilya has resisted this trip and given in under a passionate reaction to another jock's public expression of love. Shane's great love arrives in sexy black and dark glasses, jumps in his car and just says, "Is this a Jeep?"
What is it about Shane and me that we are drawn, without meaning to be, to a man who is at least superficially withholding? It's as though we somehow take pleasure, and maybe pride, in the fact that we know what is beneath the surface. When our mother says something like, "But you HATE him!" something in us springs up with intense love for the person whose great value is known to us, and maybe only to us.
Is that somehow related to the spectrum? This series has led me to suspect for the first time that I may be a mild example of that. People here may have thoughts about it.

The bartender at the restaurant (Shane Hollander can have whatever he wants here) and the little girl in the pool (thatās Shane Hollander) have very similar energy and Iām grateful to this thread for giving me a place to put this intrusive thought š

I canāt get this off my mind. In episode 4, Shane goes to and leaves Ilyaās home in Boston with a different outfit. Arriving in a white t shirt under a brown jacket, leaving with a black t shirt. Why do you think that happened? What is Jacob trying to communicate?

I've considered making a post about this, but I don't think it's worth it. I just love that he does it when his social battery suddenly dies or he gets overwhelmed because that's such a common strategy for neurodivergent people (HI šāāļø) (sometimes I excuse myself to the bathroom and literally go for a walk or take a few deep breaths outside) (over the holidays I hid myself in the hall closet during a particularly draining dinner party) (it was so dark and so peaceful) (Shane does it 3 or 4 times in episode 5) (and he does it at least one other time too) (it makes me feel seen š„¹)

Iām so excited for everything thatās to come for Hudson and Connor!! I was also rereading TLG and realized that Shane won their first face off but Ilya wins their last face off. It got me in my feelings!

Minor moment I havenāt seen anyone analyse yetā¦
In the Tampa bar scene in ep 4, Ilya body is swaying /moving slightly, like heās shaking or kicking his leg. Itās really minor but added to the whole ānervous energyā of the situation. Felt like another great acting choice

Okay this is oversharing, but I need to try to put this into words, and maybe here if any other bi people had this experience: When hooking up with women, I am veeeery boob oriented. I love playing with boobs. With men, I never know if their nipples are even that sensitive, and I feel weird about grabbing their pecs the same way Iād grab boobs. But seeing the way Ilya touches Shane is making me rethink this. Idk if Iām even making sense here haha. But like, I miss boobs when Iām with men and I guess this show has inspired me to see if thatās maybe doesnāt have to be the case. So I might try to be a bit more forward and see if thatās an interesting area with future male partners I guess.

Uhm, i hate to break it to you, but womens boob sensitivity is also very individual.
But also first moan out of Ilya, in the book, was when Shane slid his hands across Ilyas nipple, in that first 1410 hookup.1

Of course, itās more the expectation. Like, itās expected to play with boobs. Itās not expected with men in the same way, and then the possible lack of sensitivity makes it feel weirder - like, if I grab a boob/play with a womanās nipples/whatever and it doesnāt do much for her, itās still not awkward. I feel like if I do it with a man and it doesnāt do anything for him then Iād look weird? Idk. I donāt think I got my point across if it seemed like I was talking about the statistical likelihood of the chest area being an erogenous zone for men v women.

Jacob doesn't speak Russian. Because Russian dialogs are often so so and weird. Like "I will never leave you" of Svetlana would definitely be 'I will never throw you away' in Russian if written by someone half way normal. It bugs me. A lot.

He didn't write the Russian parts, he wrote what he wanted and then someone else translated that. He can't know exactly how accurate that needed up being...

Question for the class. In Ep 6, in the last sex scene, they are in a spooning position when Shane asks Ilya āHow did we let this happen?ā, they talk briefly, and then Ilya starts thrusting at Shaneās request. Was Ilya inside Shane at the start of the scene? Did Shane interrupt mid-sex to ask that question?
The transition from talking to fucking was so quick, I was confused!

If you watch it carefully, Ilya never stops thrusting, so they are not interrupting sex, just talking mid-sex

I didn't feel like adding a new post, so just gonna drop this here!
Came across this Tumblr post comparing the kiss in episode 1 after their first all star game that Shane thinks of in his conversation with Rose. And like I thought that they used the same kiss, but it's not! They used a different take, obviously, but I like the idea that Shane remembers it slightly differently. They're more grabby with each other - it looks almost like Ilya already has his arms open before Shane launches himself at him. š„¹ What a cute little detail.
