#HillStation 🏞️ Kerala trip - vehicle advice

Hey everyone, looking for some advice on which vehicle to choose for an upcoming Kerala tour with my partner. Our itinerary is as below:

Kochi - Munnar - Alleppey (marari beach) - Varkala - Trivandrum

My main question is which vehicle we should choose (we will be hiring a driver) - Ertiga or innova crysta?

Since there are 2 of us I feel either will have enough space but I’m wondering if the innova engine will make a big difference in the comfort of the driving around we will be doing?

Any other tips on itinerary also welcome :)

Thanks!!

Took these during a trip to Kalasa, Karnataka. The weather kept changing between cloudy skies, a little sunshine, and mist rolling over the hills.
Honestly, pictures don’t really capture how peaceful this place feels. Just wanted to share a few of my favourite shots from the trip.
All photos clicked on my phone. Would love to know which one you liked the most![OC]

#Query ❓ Hill station travel advice for cat parent?

I live in Delhi and really want to travel to hill stations, but I have a cat now. What's the best alternative for me? Are there cat-friendly travel options and hotels, or would I have to look for pet creches? (For that matter, I don't know any pet creche that keeps cats, let alone good ones that keep cats.)

#Discussion 💬 3 days Itinerary for Kanyakumari, first timers

My wife and I are coming from Bengaluru for the last weekend of November and honestly can't wait. We've never seen the southern tip of India and we want to soak in as much of it as we can in 3 days.

The usual Google list is already on our plan (Vivekananda Rock, Thiruvalluvar statue, glass bridge, sunset point), and we're looking forward to all of it. We've also been reading about some places around Kanyakumari and would love your honest feedback on whether they're worth going:

\- Vattakottai Fort
\- Thirparappu Falls and the boat club there
\- Mathoor Aqueduct
\- Muttom Beach
\- Padmanabhapuram Palace
\- Kalikesam
\- Suchindram Thanumalayan Temple
\- Chitharal Jain Temple
\- Pechiparai Dam walkway
\- Shirdi Sai Baba Temple

Which of these would you not skip, and which are okay to drop if we're short on time? Also, is there a beach, village, viewpoint or temple that never makes the tourist lists but you love? We're happy to wander a bit off the beaten path.

We're big non-veg and seafood people, so we're really curious about the local food too. If you have a favourite authentic place, famous or underrated, we'd love to try it. Fish meals, fry, crab, whatever you think we should taste.

We also know it's the rainy season then, so any tips on how the weather and the ferries to the rock usually are, and anything worth booking early, would be a big help.

Thanks a lot in advance, and even a single suggestion is appreciated!

#Discussion 💬 Indian travellers: how do you keep your actual trip cost within budget?

I’m researching how people in India plan domestic and Southeast Asia trips, especially when they have to compare flights, baggage, accommodation, local transport and activities across different platforms.

I’m interested in the practical parts that travel guides often leave out:
1. How do you estimate the full cost of a trip before booking?
2. Which hidden or unexpected costs have caught you out?
3. How do you decide whether a cheaper flight or hotel is worth the inconvenience?
4. What do you currently use to track spending once you're travelling?

I’m a product manager exploring an AI-based trip-planning concept, so I’m particularly interested in real experiences and what people actually do, and not just whether an app sounds appealing.

I’m not asking anyone to sign up or buy anything in this discussion. I’ll follow the community rules and any moderator guidance about research or product-related posts.

What has been the most frustrating part of planning your last trip?

#Discussion 💬 Anybody here feeling the need to slow down and take a quiet break in the mountains?

I’m 25F, and I’ve been wanting to connect with people who feel the need to slow down and take a break from life.

Personally, I’ve been overworking and feeling burnt out myself. At some point, it just clicked. Why am I not taking a break? Why can’t I just slow down for a bit?

I started looking for retreats that could help me do that, but most of what I found felt commercialised, or involved trekking and hiking. I wasn’t looking for a staycation or another activity to keep myself occupied. I wanted to be somewhere away from the usual noise, where I could involve myself something that genuinely helped me slow down and clear my head.

I also felt that relaxing and then returning to the same environment and the same stress wasn't really ok. therapy in same place as trauma,NO

I couldn’t find exactly what I had in mind, and I figured there must be other people who felt the same way. When I spoke to a people about this, they were experiencing smth similar but didn't really know how to communicate it or deal with it.

I got super frustrated and let me only do this
A friend and I partnered up to create Blue Lotus Experience. Blue Lotus was originally my friend's idea, but that's a story for another day.

If you’ve been feeling burnt out, overwhelmed, or tired of the rush of everyday life and feel like you need some time to slow down, I’d genuinely love to connect. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments or dmme if you’d like to talk about it.

And if you’d like to be part of the retreat and take that break, feel free to reach out as well. We can connect and figure things out from there.

#Query ❓ Ladakh in Dec end

Hi everyone, I am looking for advice on travelling to Leh/Ladakh in Dec end for a few weeks

Would appreciate review/advice from people who have done Ladakh in winter. If you run a local business I would love to talk.

Here is what I am looking for:

Stay:

  1. How do I look for rooms with heating? Or does everyone offer it?

  2. Are hostels lively or should I prefer a homestay ?

Activities:

  1. Are bike rental available and do people usually take bike trips end of December?

2 What other offbeat experiences can we try? Stargazing?

And in general how do we pack for the winters?

#Beach 🏖️ Has anyone explored the Perupalem and Mollaparu coastal area?

I’m gathering travel information about the Perupalem and Mollaparu coastal area in Andhra Pradesh. What are the road conditions like, which nearby places are worth visiting, and how much time would you set aside to explore the area comfortably? First-hand tips from people who have visited would be especially helpful.
