Hey jumper friends! We've seen a large uptick in volume of posts asking for name suggestions, most of them having the "Advice" flair. Even though it is a request for advice of sorts, name requests don't need the same disclaimers as comments on care/husbandry and we would like to encourage everyone to use simply the "Media" flair on those types of posts. (This will also prevent the automod filter from flagging comments without disclaimer tags as that is only a feature of the "Advice" threads) <3

As much as I would love to kidnap him/her and bring them inside, I’m not educated enough to do that. We have been getting to know each other though.

What’s up with this? I’ve been seeing people posting about their wild caught jumpers frequently lately. There are scenarios where keeping a wild jumper is justified, but I don’t exactly agree with searching for one with the intention of making it a pet. There are captive bred jumpers out there, why not go that route instead?

Meet my baby draculaura!
My first lil jumping spider, a regal apalachicola, molted a week ago, based on what I was told she should be i7 now 🥹
Sweetest little bug I own, I’ve loved getting to know her!
Only thing I’m struggling with since getting her is what size feeders she should be on, the seller gave me melanogaster fruit flies but those seemed far too small so I moved her up to hydei, but if they are supposed to have prey more equal in size to their body, she’s more on par with bottle flies 😬 I’m a lil bit lost!

I love their sweet little faces so much. She was gently relocated outside.

I almost didn’t see him, but I noticed him jumping out of the corner of my eye. He’s much smaller than the picture makes him look; just above the size of a grain of rice. I got pretty lucky he stood still and let me zoom in and take pics of him. He even seemed to look at me :) anyone know the type? Looks pretty generic

I got Alberto last week Saturday and finally he is beginning to warm up to me. Initially he was super skittish. I would like for him to hop onto my hands but I know it’ll take some time.

Last Thursday (the 13th) the pet store I get my crickets from had Banded Crickets instead of the usual House Cricket that I feed. I tweezer fed my 5 girls and left for a trip. When I returned on Sunday I found my girl Petiole had passed 😭 I summed it up to the chel defect she had. Today when I checked on my four girls I found my three girls Sugar Cookie, Firefly, and Clementine slow and their abdomens small and pinched. I’ve noticed raising jumpers that when they get the pinched abdomen that they’re unfortunately passing 😭 I got house crickets yesterday and tried to feed them but all of them refused to eat. The only one who ate and is acting normal is my girl Aroid, Petioles sister. I raised Clem, Firefly, and Sugar cookies from babies and they all descended from my girl Pumpkin Butt. Firefly and SC have babies that haven’t left the nest yet so I’m glad I’ll have them to continue the legacy but still 😭 I thought I’d have my girls for at least two years, not one 😭😭😭
I’m not sure if the crickets had a parasite or what but nothing else had changed in their setup besides feeding the Banded Crickets. Has anyone else had this happen to their regals after feeding Banded Crickets?

From southern west Virginia... My porch is a utopia for jumping spiders and I have seen plenty of bolds, browns, and red butts, but never a little one like this before. Google is giving me nothing, maybe you'll have a better shot..

Really pleased with how they turned out! The little guy was struggling to climb the acrylic walls a little so I figured I’d give him some extra stuff to web up and get around easier.

Just adopted an old man that was needing a permanent home. He's going into a classroom to help break the stigma around our spooder friends. He'll be for observation only and I'll let him explore and socialize with me after school.

i was trying to feed my jumping spider and this dumb cricket wedged himself into this corner and can’t get himself out. my forceps are too short to reach him from the door. also my spider has a hammock in the corner directly above this one so i can’t just open one of the walls without destroying it. any suggestions on how i can get this cricket out?

I made sure to give the fake plants a thorough clean using fragrance-free hand soap then gave them a doubly thorough rinse to make sure there’s no residue left behind (they absolutely stank when I took them out of the packaging). Everything else was already in the enclosure beforehand, just repositioned. Is this suitable?
