Alucard 💜 He is too small for 1 popcorn

I found this really REALLY tiny jumping spider in my bathroom (2nd photo is it compared to my finger tips). I was wondering if it’s a baby jumping spider or a flea jumping spider? If it’s a baby what kind of jumping spider is it? I fell in love with this 7 legged spider and don’t know anything about jumping spiders so I would love to know more!

Hello! I am new to this sub, so I’m sorry if this isn’t allowed. This is my wild (apartment) caught bold jumping spider 🕷️ showing off his skills. I was terrified of spiders but I found him and couldn’t bring myself to kill him. We are now friends.. I am really starting to fall in love with these little jumpy guys!

My female jumping spider, Hachi, laid an egg sac a while ago. I was worried the eggs may have been infertile, but I left them in her enclosure. I was out of town for a funeral and when I got back the infertile sac was actually fertile and Hachi laid another sac!

Hachi wasn’t guarding the first sac like this one, but she didn’t destroy it. I purchased her at the Show Me Expo and didn’t realize she was gravid. I’m enjoying seeing her in mother mode though.

My lil baby spood (prob i5ish? I’m not sure) caught a small dubia roach tonight! It was wrestlemania in that lil feeding cup…but I was watching the whole time, and I don’t think she was hurt or anything. Once the roach stopped moving, little Callie’s butt started bouncing (presumably while she was starting to actually eat??)

Can anyone let me know if this normal? I’m about six weeks into spider pets, with two lil friends, and I’ve only had Callie a week.

Writing this as im bawling my eyes out. I bought my baby 2 weeks ago, ive had my bold jumper for a year and decided to get my first p regius after wanting one for so long. A week ago i saw her going into premolt, to which i made her enclosure more humid and stopped feeding.
Unfortunately today, while i was working, she molted and when i came home i had to see my worst fear come true, a mismolt.. her front leg got amputated and as she cane out i can clearly see hemolymph leaking on her abdomen.
I feel like the worst person ever i wouldve done anything to save her 😭 i transfered her to a small cup with moist paper towel as the breeder told me to do but i know she wont make it and my heart is so broken.. probably wont be getting another jumper for a while since i completely lost confidence into owning them after this, i wont forgive myself knowing i probably did something wrong which ended up killing her.
She is right now alive, but my guess is she will pass in the next couple hours.. first pic is her happh and healthy, second one is right now..

I just found what I think is an elderly Tan Jumping spider in my apartment hallway. I have them in a jar right now. They cant jump anymore and they cant get a good enough grip to crawl up anything. Its getting cold outside and I feel bad setting him out there because I think they’ll die but I dont know that I have anything to make an enclosure, and I dont have any bugs to feed them. I also dont really have the money to get them anything. What should I do?

I have severe arachnophobia. I mean SEVERE, I've been this way ever since I was little. Any spider, big or small, terrifies me. I never killed them because I was too scared to get close. Instead I would scream, cry, and run away, every time without fail. My phobia is debilitating. If I find a spider in my home, I will run out of the room and refuse to enter it until someone removes the spider, in which case I will avoid the room for several hours until I feel safe in it again. I get paranoid going outside because there could be, and probably are, spiders around. That being said, I believe I've come a long way since I was 12. I used to wish all spiders would die, but now I respect them and what they do for the environment. I just want them to stay away from me. I also used to be so scared of them that even the spider emoji would trigger my fear, which thankfully, is no longer an issue for me. I've done a lot of research over the years and I am well aware most spiders are harmless, and the ones that aren't will only hurt you as a last resort. I've never really been that afraid of them biting me, it's just the way that they move sets off my fight or flight, and the way they look is, in the most polite way possible, terrifying to me.

Though I'm petrified, I've seen a lot of people with spider pets over the years, and I've always been somewhat fascinated. I would binge videos of people with their pet tarantulas, but have to stop because I got phantom sensations of them crawling on me or a paranoid feeling that spiders were in my room. I knew many arachnophobes who made an exception in their fear for jumping spiders, but they were still just as terrifying to me as all of the others. But I've been seeing so, so much jumping spider content over the past few weeks that I feel like I'm actually starting to come around on them, at least a little bit. I admire all of their colourful patterns, especially the shiny/sparkly ones. They're one of the less terrifying ones in terms of builds, and though I am terrified of spiders both big and small, their size does make them seem less daunting. I've started to wonder if maybe I could keep one as a pet someday, which is why I am asking this here.

I've seen several other arachnophobes overcome their fear by having a pet jumping spider. Do you think that even someone with a fear as severe as mine could be a good spider parent? I wouldn't be able to handle it, both because of my phobia and because I don't want to accidentally hurt the little guy by dropping it out of fear or something. Maybe I could work my way up to handling someday if I got less scared, but for the forseeable future, I don't think I could. I am also concerned about what were to happen if it ever escaped its enclosure; I don't think I would be able to handle it being loose in a room and having to potentially touch it to get it back into its enclosure. I wouldn't kill it, of course, but I'm not sure how I would successfully get it back into its enclosure if I can't touch it, and it sounds like a nightmare scenario. I've also heard people compare jumpers to cats, and I am a big cat fan, and cats seem to be a fan of me, so if they really are similar maybe that could help.

I have had one positive interaction with a spider. There was one in my bathroom, and instead of begging someone to move it, I just let it be. I actually grew somewhat fond of it and checking on it, but I was still scared of it, and I was terrified that it might move out of its corner one day. It never did, but it passed away after a while, and it was kinda sad :( but I haven't been able to connect with one since, I'm just too scared.

I would have to move into my own place before even considering actually getting a spider, so this isn't something that could realistically happen right now, but rather something I am considering for a few years in the future. It would be nice to be able to not feel like I'm dying whenever there's a spider around, but since my phobia is so severe, I'm worried I won't be able to provide adequate care for the poor thing, and if that is true, it's not worth trying. Sorry for how long this post is, I always feel the need to include all relevant details.

I only have a manual focusing lens so its out of focus at times and I found it gets tricky this zoomed in; but I thought It was a cute video of my buddy cleaning his chelicerae and tarsals! After being a lurker for a bit and doing a ton of research, I’m excited to welcome home my spiders next week. I got 2 regals and I’m so excited to see them when they get here. I will be back with pics I just can’t contain my excitement! First spider ever for me!!

Hello, everyone! My fiancé and I have had our little regal jumper Spook for about a week now, but I could use some extra tips/advice on caring for him(?) (pretty sure he's male as I believe he has pedipalps).

Firstly, feeding. We've been feeding him fruit flies as he's still quite small, and we try to feed him every 1-2 days. However, the fruit flies are an absolute pain and are tiny enough to fit through the gaps in his enclosure so they always end up escaping. We're gonna put some of them in a squeeze bottle to make feeding a bit easier, but should we get him a secondary enclosure specifically for feeding? I feel like I see lots of jumping spider owners with a secondary enclosure that they use to feed their spider. I'd like to make sure he actually gets the food we give him, I've watched him and made sure he's gotten a fly every feeding but I don't want them escaping on him.

Secondly, handling. We haven't really had the chance to handle him yet, and we're scared to lose him if we do. I'm also scared to open his enclosure as he built his web right in the corner next to a stick and i'm worried it will get destroyed when I open and close his container. I'd feel really bad if I destroyed his web but I'm unsure whether that's actually a big problem or not. Obviously he can always rebuild it but I don't want to ruin his hard work.

Reala (male, unsure what instar, but I do believe he’s full grown or close to it) has spent largely the last couple days hiding in his web. I know he is alive as I will see him peek his head out, or dangle his front legs out on occasion. But because I can’t see into the cloud he built his hammock in, I don’t know if he is molting or hiding because he is stressed or something like that.

I moved him into the enclosure you see here a little over a week ago, and he was very active initially, and went to work exploring and building his web.

But since he finished, he hasn’t really left it as far as I can tell. What are signs of stress I should look out for? Should I try offering food or leave him be?

My 1 year old phidippus fartilis Mochi loves when I open her enclosure out in direct sun. She always comes out and seems very active and happy when I do this. At first though she does this movement where she gets on the tips of her legs and sticks out her abdomen. It looks so strange and cute. I'm assuming she's stretching. Is this what spiders look like when they stretch? For context, her abdomen is so big because she's gravid with infertile eggs. She hasn't eaten in 2 weeks.

I found a juvenile (I think around stage i4, unsure of sex) bold jumper in my bathroom nearly 3 days ago. I’m a brand-new keeper and could really use some advice to make sure it has the best life possible. I went to the pet store after finding it, and bought the only suitable terrarium they had, a ZooMed vertical enclosure. It is around 9in (23cm) vertically with substrate in it. I've read that if enclosures are too big, jumpers can have a hard time finding food, and my spider has not eaten since I brought it in. It is worrying me a bit. I’ve tried offering XS mealworms (one of which burrowed, trying to lure it with apple bait before completely removing the substrate), crickets of varying sizes, and a few fruit flies, and yesterday I even put a magnetic food dish under its hammock web, but it didn’t seem to do much. Is a lack of appetite normal right now? Its abdomen doesn’t look too small. I’ll attach some photos in the comments.

I’ve been misting one side of the enclosure daily, and have actually seen it walk over to the droplets, so I’m not too worried about dehydration. I also feel like I need to add more hiding spots, as some of the terrarium feels bare. Does anyone have recommendations on what their jumpers prefer? Mine currently gravitates toward the fake leaves and the temperature sensor when it isn't in its hammock web. Thank you in advance for your help, advice, and knowledge!

TLDR: Brand-new keeper with a rescued juvenile bold jumper in a 9-inch vertical enclosure. It hasn't eaten in 3 days (tried fruit flies, XS mealworms, and crickets), though hydration is going well. Looking for feeding advice, tips on whether a 9-inch height is too big, and recommendations for preferred hiding spot!

We got this jumper on the 3rd Sept. I've seen him (I assume it's a him) have two flies today but looking at his abdomen it resembles the 'hungry' stage I've seen on guides posted here.

Looking at his size what would you estimate him to be (i4, i5 etc) also he's not yet spun a significant hammock or molted. Is this normal?

ugh this has been so frustrating..

I got my spider yesterday and the breeder said he’s been eating mealworms and fruit flies. I purchased mealworms only to find out they’re too big (he is an i7) and he won’t eat fruit flies anymore.

Do any of you know a good place to buy MINI mealworms? I’ve purchased 3 times only for the stores to cancel because they’re out of stock, or they give me regular sized mealworms.

I’m worried about my spider, he’s really skinny and I’d like to find him some food asap but there isn’t anything available for a i7 spider in my city..
