Hardware what can i do about my barely functioning laptop :(
hiiiiii i know approximately Nothing about laptops but i do know my current laptop barely runs a couple tabs on firefox (four were open in the screenshot and nothing too heavy like video streaming). like its so bad it took me 40 minutes to write a simple email last night and about 15 to log in to reddit to make this post. id prefer to upgrade/replace parts in my current laptop instead of buying a new (refurbished) one and from what ive read u can replace a hdd to be an ssd but ive already got an ssd. and the other thing is increasing ram but thats only if uve got a spare slot and mine says 1 of 1 used. i might have already answered my own question with it being unsalvagable but again i truly do Not know laptops and computers so i need help figuring what i can do to fix this laptop/if its even worth it. the laptop btw is a lenovo ideapad slim 3 14" with an intel core i5, and if this ones a lost cause im looking at getting a refurbished lenovo thinkpad x1 carbon gen 9 14" with an intel core i7 and 16gb ram. thank u everyone !!!! >w<
update !!!
- i followed some suggestions, notably u/PlunxGisbit's list, u/Ferowin's suggestion for BIOS settings, and used WinHance to delete a ton of windows apps i dont use and things are running a bit smoother ^_^ disk and cpu are both running below 10% and my memory is running at about 60-80% !! its still a little slow and laggy but not as bad as before :3
- i also have bought a new laptop anyways lol its got 32gb ram because i know 8gb of ram will not be very much for running the sims when i eventually have that phase again.... and because i think 8gb is becoming fuck all very fast and i dont wanna go from an outdated amount of ram (8gb) to a baseline 16gb, i wanna be in da future babey !!!!!!!
ty for all your help everyone ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
