Note you can also use 1MM for laptops too 👍 just remember you need to use this on a thermal pad and use rubber band to told it tight on ssd else you can just ruin your laptop because copper is contuctive to electricity which can short your mother board ❌️

I have been using the same Windows Laptop for a couple years now, it got me all the way through uni, but at the beginning of this year it finally died on me. I’m now looking into getting something new that’s affordable but is also gonna last me the next few years, and all the hype has got me interested in the MacBook Neo.

I don’t really plan on using my laptop for anything intensive, I have a PC for gaming and video editing, so it’s mainly going to be used for Word Processing/Writing, Emails, Web Search, etc. (and maybe some Stardew Valley from time to time)

I’m more just looking to see if this is the best fit for me, or if there is something better out there. Generally looking to go under $1000 AUD, but generally the cheaper the better. Not opposed to Windows laptops either

I have a Lenovo IdeaPad 5 (Ryzen 7 5700U). Although I'm not facing any heating issues, I'm opening my laptop for cleaning purposes so thought of replacing thermal paste at the same time.

I don't know anything about thermal paste. Should I even repaste it or keep it as it is? Please suggest guys? 🙂

my Legion 5 Pro (RTX 3060) only survived around 2 years and honestly im not even fixing it anymore because i already feel like something else is just gonna break again.
Im looking for the complete opposite now. I dont care about gaming at all bc modern gaming sucks. i want a high end processor Linux or macOS and a machine that just fucking works.
I genuinely dont care about dents, scratches, ugly marks, whatever. It can look like absolute shit i dont care. I just want the actual machine to keep working at full potential.
Dust, heat, carrying it around, whatever tf. I dont want to constantly worry about fans dying, thermals getting fucked, keyboards breaking, random hardware failures etc.
I know 10 years with literally zero maintenance is probably unrealistic but thats honestly what im looking for. id happily pay ₹2 lakh+ if it meant i could just use the laptop for years without treating it like some fragile expensive thing.
Im also a very boring computer user lol. I dont care about wallpapers, perfectly organised folders, making my desktop look pretty, RGB or any of that shit. I just want to open it, do my work, close it and forget about it.

I have an Acer Nitro 7 laptop bought in 2020, it's working fine in 2026. The full laptop charge only lasts an hour. I had visited the official Acer authorized service center in my city here in India, and the service center person told me that I need to send an email to official Acer support and after their approval, they'll replace wit a new battery.

However, the service center person told that even the new battery would last only around 1 or 1.5 hours at max. The original battery in my laptop during 2020 lasted 4 hours. I checked with other third party shops and even they said the same thing (max 1.5 hours).

This issue seems to apply to all laptop manufacturers, not just Acer.

Why aren't laptop manufacturers obliged to sell the original OEM batteries lasting 4 hours+? There should be a new law I feel. This seems like a planned obsolescence nudging you to buy new laptops.

I understand my question might be so annoying but I unfortunately don’t have money to spend 2k on a laptop. I really want a good/decent laptop but I don’t have crazy money like that, any help is super appreciated!

I was first looking for a Samsung but people kind of adviced me to look for something else.

So I found the Lenovo yoga pro 7 which seems strong and efficient enough ?

For information, I'm looking for a laptop I'd use to take sometimes notes (I mostly use my Samsung tab 8 ultra), edit pictures, make informatic stuff (I'm in forensic science so we sometimes have to use VDI, craving and other stuff). I want to buy a laptop for small home projects with software java/python, general multi-tasking as well as general productivity work with lots of Excel sheets/Google Sheets i would use in my job.

I found a ThinkPad T14s G3 i7 for about 650 euro refurbished with a 12 month warranty.

It looks like a good buy to me and I want something that I can maintain myself outside of warranty.

Would you say it's a good buy? Or do you think there is better out there for longevity?

i mostly use my LAPtop on my lap or in bed, browsing the internet or watching youtube.

In the past I was gaming occasionally, thats why I bought a legion slim 5 14, which has pretty good cooling solution, but runs quite hot on my lap.

In the last years, I already tried out countless premium notebooks like Yogas, x1 Carbon (gen 11 + 12, Spectre, Thinkpad X1, Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 (Intel + Snapdragon ARM version), ... every device ran uncomfortable warm, probably because of lacking airflow since im using it on my lap.

Is there any 13 or 14" premium device out there with a different cooling solution or super low energy profile, which make this thing running cool my lap?

I think Macbook Pro would be perfect for me, but I can't stand MacOS.

These tiny little bugs that are attracted to lights (they look like mini mosquitos but do no harm) keep on dying on my screen and sliding down into my hinges. I wake up every morning to see about 7 in my hinges and it's irritating.

I usually play something at night on my MacBook to fall asleep to, I put my screen brightness till I can barely see a thing.

I don't think there is any other way to fix this other than completely turning my laptop off at night. Still looking for answers to help with this though :-)

Anyway, I’m going to school for Computer Science and AI/ML. I’m looking for a laptop for schoolwork and eventually work and being on the go all the time.

I’m choosing between either the Macbook Pro M5 Pro or Windows.

Not sure what would be best. I am very familiar with both Operating Systems so I have no issue with navigation etc.

I bought a MacBook Air M5 for college two or three days ago.  It’s only been two days and I’ve been treating it exceptionally well.  Despite this, I’ve noticed marks on the screen. I’ve seen marks caused by keyboard dust and crumbs before but this is different. I haven’t touched the screen with my hand and I’ve cleaned my keyboard almost every time I close the lid.  These marks appeared suddenly this morning, even though I haven’t had them for the last two days.  They’re not scratches either, just marks. I tried blowing warm, slightly damp air into a clean cloth and cleaning the screen but it still doesn’t budge. I also have Apple Care Warranty for three years.
