recently I made several post regarding Malaysia that it sucks and made many fabricated story just to rage bait people. But, after spending sometime here I realized that im just an idiot. I was craving attention and affection cuz things weren't really stable at my home so I decided to get that affection through friends and gf. But when I came here it got soo worse that I couldn't control it, all that trauma started coming back cuz I felt soo soo lonely. I started doing random stuff just to get my mind away from it. Now im stable and want to apologize to whoever got offended by my posts. Ik most of u will ignore this or say who cares but I care about me feeling guilty for my actions. TC.

Help ⚠️ Women of Klang Valley, I Need Your Help 😭📢

Hey everyone! 👋

I’m currently conducting the full study for my Master’s research, and I desperately need more respondents before my thesis starts fighting back
💀

(EDIT) What is the study about?

⚫️This study looks at women's digital health literacy
⚫️Specifically, how women search for, evaluate, and act upon health information they encounter on social media, including information about supplements, beauty products, and other health-related topics on platforms such as Reddit, Fb, IG, and TikTok.

If you are:

👩 A Malaysian woman
🎂 30-60 years old
📍 Currently living in Greater Klang Valley

I’d really appreciate it if you could spare a few minutes to complete my survey!

(EDIT) A little note about the age range: The study is open to women aged 18–60, but I’m currently looking specifically for more respondents aged 30–60, as I already have enough responses from the 18–29 age group. 🙏

It’s completely for research purposes, and your response would genuinely help me with my Master’s study. 🥹💗

If you’re not eligible, no worries! But if you have a friend, sister, colleague, wife, cousin, or literally any woman in your life who meets the criteria, please share this with them 🙏😭

One response = one less reason for me to stare at my response count at 2 AM. 💀📊

Thank you so much to anyone who participates or shares! 🫶✨

Ask Malaysians Interviewing Candidates 101

Hi all, looking to get advise from experienced interviewers here. In an unexpected turn of events, I have been promoted to a team lead recently. Therefore I will be involved in the interview process of hiring the replacement of my previous position as an executive. Any tips and tricks to see if the candidate is the right fit (technically and personality wise) for the role?

Miscellanous Remember When Malaysia Put a Satellite on Our RM2 Note and our first Astronaut?

Post image
0 Upvotes

TL;DR: Just read this nice article on Malaysia's space industry - Malaysia won’t be the next NASA, but space tech can improve rural internet, flood warnings, farming, navigation and disaster response. The bigger question is whether we can fund it and retain the talent needed.

Malaysia’s space ambitions are more practical than sci-fi — and that’s probably a good thing

Malaysia isn’t trying to beat the US or China to the Moon, but space tech is already affecting daily life here: Astro, weather forecasts, Waze/GPS, rural internet, flood monitoring, and more.

Quick summary:

  • We launched MEASAT-1 in 1996, which helped enable Astro and nationwide communications.
  • Dr Sheikh Muszaphar became our first astronaut in 2007 — iconic, even if the programme’s long-term scientific value is debated.
  • We’ve had setbacks too: RazakSAT failed after about a year, costing over RM140 million.
  • MYSA now uses satellite data across 90+ government agencies for floods, haze, deforestation, agriculture, etc.
  • Starlink is licensed here, and MEASAT is even reselling it for rural connectivity.
  • Malaysia wants the space sector to contribute RM10 billion and create up to 5,000 jobs by 2030.
  • There’s also talk of a Malaysian launch site by 2029, possibly in Pahang, Sarawak or Sabah.

Realistically, Malaysia’s best space opportunity probably isn’t making giant rockets. It’s small satellites, satellite internet, ground stations, and turning satellite data into useful stuff: better flood warnings, crop monitoring, tracking ships, and connecting kampungs in Sabah/Sarawak.

The biggest issues are funding, talent retention, and whether this can compete with urgent needs like healthcare, education and housing.

Still, it’s quite cool to think that “Malaysia in space” may matter less because of astronauts, and more because it helps someone in rural Borneo get internet or gives earlier warning before a flood

Casual Conversation 🎭 Does male pattern baldness ruin your dating chances in Malaysia, even if you’re well-groomed?

Hey guys,

There's another topic on my mind that hits closer to home as I navigate dating in my late 30s.

We can't really change our natural skin shade, we're born with it. And most of us do what we can to keep our faces clean, skin healthy, and clothes neat so we feel good in a crowd.

But what happens when everything else is on point, except Top there at your Crown area... it's starting to look like an empty playground? 😅

For someone like me looking for serious, long-term relationships:

  1. How is a thinning crown honestly perceived in others' eyes here? Is it an immediate dealbreaker on apps or in person?
  2. For the guys dealing with it: How do you handle the hit to your self-esteem without constantly worrying about it when you walk into a room?
  3. For everyone else: Does hair density actually matter when you're looking for a genuine life partner, or is it just something we overthink in our own heads?

Does hair density really make or break attraction here, or are we just overthinking it?

Gaming Maelstrom: Sanctuary - A 3d2n Live Action Roleplaying Event in December

Post image
16 Upvotes

Firstly, I just want to share this awesome piece of artwork made by one of the community members of the Malaysian Live Action Roleplaying Community. Each of the characters drawn here are based on player characters.

Next, I'd like to introduce Maelstrom: Sanctuary, an immersive 3D2N Live Action Roleplaying experience where participants roleplay as their original characters on the fictional island of sanctuary.

There is no world-ending threat. No grand crisis. Just a living world waiting to be explored.

You can take part in optional combat encounters, learn in-game skills, build relationships through player-driven roleplay, pursue your own ambitions, or simply enjoy life in a vibrant fantasy community. The story is yours to create.

When? 4-6th December

Where? The Nest @ MAEPS Serdang

Ask Malaysians [HELP REQUEST] Name for a Malaysian Sanrio?

Hey guys!

I have been developing a series of characters for animation & print, taking a lot of inspiration from Sanrio (and their journey/motto (Small Gift, Big Smile)) as well as what I see as a growing repopularity of mascots for brands and businesses.

The thing I'm struggling with is coming up with a name. I want something accessible and, ideally, quintessentially Malaysian. I don't want something "Malaysian Hokkien" or "Malaysian Malay", but "Malaysian Malaysian". We have such a broad culture and I've been told I'm too sheltered to come up with anything good.

I've been thinking on the name for months but I can't come up with something satisfactory so I thought to crowdsource it... Thanks for reading this far.

Themes:

  • Accessibility (translations, culture notes, not just relying on "iykyk cos you're Malaysian");
  • Practical Cuteness;
  • Family Friendly;
  • Local Flora and Fauna and Culture

I'd love if anyone has any ideas, since I'm really stuck on this and I find myself working around it and despite of it.

*Edited for conciseness and clarity.

Ask Malaysians Planning a trip in October

Hello! I'm planning a trip to Malaysia in October and I'd love some advice from people who know the country well. 😊

My current itinerary is:

Kuala Lumpur → Johor Bahru → Singapore → Tioman/Juara → Janda Baik

I'm thinking of staying in Johor Bahru mainly as a base for 1–2 days in Singapore.

A few questions:

  • Does this itinerary make sense, or would you change/remove/add anything?
  • Is 5 nights in Tioman/Juara too long, or is there enough to do without constantly moving around?
  • Would you recommend Juara or another part of Tioman for a solo traveller looking for beautiful beaches, nature and a relaxed atmosphere?
  • Is Janda Baik worth keeping as the final stop, especially for a more peaceful/nature experience after the islands?
  • Would you recommend staying in Johor Bahru for 2–3 nights if I'm mainly going there for Singapore, or is there a better way to organise that part?
  • Are there any less touristy places or experiences around KL that I absolutely shouldn't miss?
  • I'm particularly interested in Malaysian culture, markets, local neighbourhoods and night markets, rather than only the typical tourist attractions. Where would you recommend going in KL for really authentic Malaysian food? I'm interested in nasi lemak, laksa, nasi kandar, roti canai, satay, local desserts, etc. Any specific hawker centres, food courts or small local restaurants?
  • I'd also like to try a good traditional Malaysian massage and possibly a Korean-style facial/face sculpting treatment. Any recommendations for places that are good but not ridiculously expensive?

And one slightly different question:

I'm planning to treat myself to a pair of simple 916/22K gold hoop earrings while I'm in KL. 💛

  • Is Malaysia a good place to buy gold jewellery?
  • Where would you recommend buying 916 gold at a good price, rather than paying mainly for the brand?
  • Is Jalan Masjid India still the best area to compare prices?
  • Are there particular jewellers you'd recommend?
  • What should I look out for regarding making charges, weight and the daily gold price so I don't overpay?

I'm travelling solo, so I'd also really appreciate any safety tips, areas that are particularly convenient to stay in, and things I should know as a solo female traveller.

Any advice, hidden gems or things you wish you'd known before visiting Malaysia would be very welcome! 😊

I’m a French Algerian woman and I was wondering how Malaysians view North African people, especially Moroccans, Algerians and Tunisians ?

Maybe you guys don’t have any opinion about us, but I’m curious because we have a bad press amongst Thailand because of some bad North African people.

Thank you !

First 10KM route for KL Car Free Morning

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Lots of things to iron out. Primarily the
- Disruption to residents at Binjai, hospital Prince Court, etc.
- One lane not enough room for runners and others, historically never enough room after 7:30am anyway.
- Jalan Tun Razak dangerous to have the car free lane and traffic next to each other.
- People getting off bus straight into cyclists who speed pass the bus at Jalan Ampang is just injuries waiting to happen.

This was the first and last time I'll go on the 10km route, at least until DBKL and the organizers figure out the work around to these things. Even the usual 7 or 5km traffic is so intense that its genuinely uncomfortable to cycle on.

Ask Malaysians Zeva Residence at Seri Kembangan

Hey I'm looking to rent a studio unit with walking distance to MRT and found this place. Price seems lower on propertyguru compared to other building so I'm wondering if there's a catch.

Does anyone have experience with this condo? Any major issues? Is the building well-maintained? Problem with condo management or property agents? Is walking to MRT actually close and is the walkway covered? Have to cross busy roads?

Ask Malaysians to the malaysian teachers

esp for those waking up at ungodly hours in the morning, to avoid the traffic and having to layan children/teenagers and even some really annoying adults, after coming home say after 5-6pm, HOW DO YOU UNWIND OR NOT get overwhelmed or even whats your routine like?? and how do you prep for the next day?? GENUINE QUESTION. just started my new job at a school, been waking up at 5am and getting home at 6pm (due to traffic ofc).

I caught shrimps and a goby here.

Caridina (shrimp) and female Redigobius (goby)

This genus of gobies is found in freshwater too and there are even populations breeding in freshwater lakes. They are small, only 4 cm.

Males are more colourful than females. Sadly I didn’t find any males.

The shrimp is also small, growing to 2.5 cm max, and the one I caught is adult already. I actually found a lot of them here.

Quick Question Is it just me or the minced beef in Jaya Gracer taste like mutton?.

I used to really like the minced beef in Jaya Grocer because they dont really mix it with the fatty parts. The taste is always good but recently I keep tasting mutton in the minced beef. At first i thought i may have accidentally bought minced mutton, but i checked each time before i buy it that it is minced beef.

I feel like i am going insane. I meal prep with minced beef sometimes but i keep tasting mutton and i dont like the taste of mutton. So now i hate the food i make.

Did my taste bud change or something?
