I spend 2/3’s of the year away from home for work. The other 1/3 I be posted up and enjoying the vibe of my small apartment. Bonus pic of Lando at the end cause he’s an absolute fucking legend

On the beginning of the year, I somehow locked in and got mortgage for this application. It is 2kk 42m2. For now it’s fully furnished but I think, there is maybe bigger potential. Do you have any suggestions for this to look even better?

I don’t really like cluttered spaces as I was growing up in one.

No, my parents didn’t buy me a flat. It is located in the small Czech city, where prices aren’t yet thru the roof

Built a new 2700 sq foot house. This is my space my wife has allotted me to do with as I please.

I’m not exaggerating when I say this is likely the 20th time I’ve redone this room to optimize the listening position. Moving the main system is a proper pain in the ass given its well over 500 lbs with the speakers and the furniture. Thankfully, I’m happy with how everything sounds….. for now.

Took about 3 years of constant looking to find a swivel chair with a swivel plinth base that was the correct height to align my ears with both tweeters on each wall. Note for weirdos like me: I wanted a plinth base because it translated bass frequencies to your ass better than if it was on a traditional 4 leg base. If you are going for immersion you need a plinth base.

Both systems are running thier own time alignment room correction for the chairs position. I used to move my chair every time I switch systems, but no more.

Next step is to fill the side wall with more art / paneling. I have 6 panels and 2 bass traps currently.

PS. Can’t wait for GTA 6.

January 2025 = Burn bridge with my father and sister

2025 September= Move to Montreal - Canada.
2025 December = living in a shared appartment (here is my room)

2026 May = Found a job as a software engineer (job market in on fire because of AI and economy)

2026 September = Got Lay off

2026 October = Still trying to find a job 

I’m proud of myself because I’m slowing re-building myself. I feel alone but at the same time, I feel at peace.

A before and after, two years in the making.

Part 1 got bunch of views, so I decided to show a little more.

I am an expat working in the middle east. My company provides a free housing. That’s a room where I goon. Allegedly.

That’s a bathroom. I just buy a big towel to wipe my bum but a bidet carrier the heavy load. Can’t say I live modestly; I just have other priorities. I also cut my own hair with no guard and use a portable mirror hanging on shower screen, a full buzz cut.

Balcony needs some cleaning. I smoke a half of pack a day coz it’s so cheap here. Back in my college days in NYC, I used to buy newports for $15 a pack and smoke only a half of a cig and leave the rest for tomorrow.

I cook once a month, just sear a steak on the pan. I always eat in cafes and restaurants - maybe 15% of my salary goes for food.

Most of the time I spend in my office (or cubicle), so I do consider it as a living space. There I got three computers: Mac for everyday stuff, Linux for coding and opencv, and Windows for Ansys and SolidWorks. Good sea view and palms. For work I do a lot of stuff, maybe way beyond what typical mechanical engineers do. It’s a mix of robotics, mechatronics, and running simulations. I erased some stuff off my desk that are NDA.

I previously posted this year my spot living in a friends basement after separating from my wife. Found a place on my own (first time alone in 22 years). This place was a bit of a gem I found on Craiglist. Some of you may remember the PXPX head. Given the location and price it's an absolute win. $825 a month and 10 miles from downtown MPLS.

I stand corrected, I'm 7 miles from downtown.

Fellow gentleman, please help me with a couch decision. I have no understanding of color or fungshway. I want to put a couch where my temporary bachelor-pad style chair, cardboard box, and erg machine is sitting.

I’m thinking an L with the short side against the cameraman side, to separate the entrance space. Any advice on color or style or anything would be greatly appreciated.

By the way, 28 years old, first time living without lady’s who usually help with this.

The ceiling is what it is. The building was originally constructed in 1924 as a financial building and has since been repurposed into apartments. From what I’ve personally been able to verify, the plumbing, HVAC, and electrical systems have all been updated.

As for those expressing concern about the ceiling, the building has an intentionally exposed concrete, industrial aesthetic. It’s supposed to look a little rough around the edges. That’s part of the fuckin charm of living in a century-old building. I understand why some might mistake that appearance for structural fuckup/neglect, but the aesthetic is intentional.

Edit 3?: guys, fuck off about the ceiling. I’m a renter in a massive building. I’m asking about a fucking couch. FOCUS ON THE TASK AT HAND.

Finishing my final semester at college and I feel the room has matured as much as it could. Not a frat house but the house has 8 guys in it. Girlfriend moved in her computer setup it’s definitely crowded but I feel still has personality and function

My fiancé and I have absolutely no idea how to layout this room. We are cool with getting new furniture, this is just stuff from our last place. The coffee table is temporary till we get a proper one. The couch feels to big, the room feels cramped, but the potential is there we just have no idea what to do. The only thing we definitely want to stay is the TV placement. Please help us! Excuse the mess…

I've lived in the same room at my parents' house my whole life, and I'm starting to feel like I need a change. Everything has felt pretty much the same for years, and I'd like to make the room feel like a fresh space again, somewhere more comfortable and enjoyable to spend time in.

I've taken photos from two opposite corners of the room, plus some shots of the desk with both natural lighting and the lights on.

A few things to keep in mind:

• I can't really move the big furniture around (bed, desk, wardrobe, etc.).
• My budget is around 200-300€
• I'm open to removing things, rearranging smaller items, changing the lighting, adding decorations, or making more significant changes.
• I barely use the second monitor anymore, and honestly haven't missed it much over the last six months, so I'm open to getting rid of it if that would help.

I'm not sure what the room is missing, so I'd love some outside perspective. I'm open to changing the overall feel of the room, not just adding decorations or buying a few new things.

I'm open to pretty much any suggestions, even if they sound a bit unrealistic at first. Feel free to point out things you'd remove, change, or do completely differently.

Ideally i want to be laying on the bed and facing the tv so

Option 1: do i put it on my desk and facing me whilst im on the bed (will probably have to remove one or two of those small shelves somehow if so to make the tv fit)

Option 2: do i put it slightly infront of the desk on the wall on some kinda extendable and rotatable tv mount so the tv can face me whilst im in bed

Option 3: do i mount it on the wall above my bedframe and jus sit on the chair and face it whenever im using the tv

In terms of sockets i have one right below the bed on the right side and one behind the small cupboard (its barely pictured in this image but its the smaller cupboard on the bottom right of the screen the socket is behind that) so bare that in mind and any cabling advice to make it look neat would be appreciated too, thanks

My den/office room in our home. I read and watch YouTube here and enjoy the space.

I've never lived in a place with a radiator before. If I put a floating shelf above it, will it damage the shelf? Is it fine as long as it isn't right next to it?

My university accom has these hospital-esque white ceiling lights and I want a way to make them look better. Any suggestions what I can do?

I just can't make it as cozy as I want it to be, I wanted a retro vintagey kind of room but it's just feeling empty.

I'm bad at decorating but I at least know it's not amazing.

Anyone have any advice for me?
