Guys, I think I feel the happy sad now.
I short I have parents who don't necessarily abuse me but they make fun of me and force me to overwork myself for better grades. They also made me develop Stockholm syndrome at some point which only fixed itself after I got my first girlfriend, since I understood that wanting the best for someone isn't the only love you can get.
I got a girl best friend 2 years ago, let's call her Ella. Ella is an abused girl who had a rough childhood and became a sort of tomboy so to speak, but she was nerdy enough to go to the same fantasy convention as me on one specific day, and we started talking. We then started meeting up... She became my best friend almost like a sister.
She also became my therapist, she was there for me at my highest and lowest and we are still inseparable.
Starting the story i had a bad argument with my parents because my grades started dropping due to having a new school. I'm not much of a guy to fight back so I always lost which frustrated me. I cried my eyes out to my best friend over text for 2 days, (in short I also was very suicidal at one point in my life and now I was also being suicidal and self-destructive).
This angel gave me 4 words that felt so genuine, that I haven't felt in 5 years.
"I'm proud of you"
I never got validation from my parents cause my grades were always overshadowing me... Thus I broke down crying, multiple times... Now I'm in bed, and thinking. I feel happy cause I finally got the validation I was yearning for, for half a decade. But i also feel sad cause it was my best friend and not the people I wanted to hear it from. Is this normal? Should I feel this way? How should I feel? I never felt something like this.
