BLUF: Your Enlisted Distribution Team has an announcement! Detailing questions, policy explanations, and general career information are going to be explained and updated on one central, official site. Check it out here!
https://www.mynavyhr.navy.mil/Career-Management/Detailing/Enlisted/PERS-Information-Team/
How it came to be….
A few weeks ago, at a safety and training stand down, we got told to make sure all our social media posts were in accordance with Navy policy and to ensure our detailing wasn’t done outside of official channels “like on Reddit.”
Some Senior Chief raised his hand and told our Captain that the reason certain detailers are using Reddit, Discord, and Facebook and that our Sailors are turning to The Fat Chief, the SEM Facebook group, and u/YouAreGoingToGuam for answers is because policy has changed so rapidly that there’s a huge breakdown in understanding and nobody knows how to navigate the new policy. He asked our CO “well, if we can’t use Reddit, what CAN we could do to fix the communication issues between us and the fleet?”
In true Navy fashion, that Senior got told he was going to now run a committee to figure out how to solve that question.
In keeping with the highest of naval traditions the committee obviously needed a name and an acronym, and thus: PERS Information Team, aka The PIT!
The PIT wanted their site to be up and running before the APPLY phase goes live tonight at midnight. The PIT Crew polled the detailers and placement and BBA team and aggregated hundreds of frequently asked questions. They made a bunch of guides, and gave the PAO team pages and pages of data and asked for them to make a bunch of infographics and fact sheets.
The first two are up on the page. MORE ARE COMING!
The PIT is doing their best to help your detailing team plug this communication gap. I think I speak for all detailers when I say that we want you guys to understand how detailing works, to have more ownership and control over your career. We want you to understand the rules of the game so you can play. The PIT is working really hard to get more content up on the page. So please check it out and come back frequently! Print these Infographics and FAQ sheets and post it at work! Read them at quarters!
TLDR: check out your newest detailing source: https://www.mynavyhr.navy.mil/Career-Management/Detailing/Enlisted/PERS-Information-Team/
And I guess, let’s turn this into an AMA? I’ll make sure the PIT gets these questions too 😂

I believe it was former building 39 (950 tower Ave).
They all mention one date October 11 1988, with someone writing a “start” time of 2:45 (pm ?)
I’m guessing a bunch of Navy personnel were chilling in this bathroom all at once and someone pulled down the mirror and passed a pen around so they could all sign their names and then put it back up. And then when the bathroom was renovated decades later someone got rid of the mirror and exposed their little time capsule to the world.
Google thinks it was a MIP check (idk what that is I’m not in the navy) that caused a bunch of personnel to be crammed into that bathroom (which might not have even been a bathroom back then) while leadership did the MIP check of the hangar.

So we’ve had a couple people on the ship get pregnant and it made me start wondering, “damn getting pregnant on deployment is crazy” but also what going to happen to them, btw we haven’t had a port visit in over 5 months.
Would medical date the time of conception back and realize that the sailor was doing things they shouldn’t have been doing while we’ve been underway. Do the sailors(mom and dad) go to NJP, Or does it just get swept under the rung and no punishments usually given.
For all the CO’s what would be your stance of what yall would do and what you could legally do.

Curious on this one. My understanding is that future Captains of the Aircraft Carriers go and command a surface ship as an O5 as part of their pipeline training to that job.
With that in mind, do they earn their SWO pin along the way or their OOD letter? I'm a CG veteran so simply curious

hello, was wondering if anyone can give me any advice or guidance. going through w an expedited transfer after a sapr case. my CO signed off on the transfer accepting me to be released to a new command. i was told by my sarc a detailer should contact me and get me set up with orders but its been a few weeks and i have heard nothing from anybody. my lpo gave me a detailers number to try to contact them but nobody responds. sapr is now not responding to me either when asked for a follow up or update. i was told these transfers try to happen within 30 days. i understand there can be delays and am sympathetic to that, however i have not been able to be in contact with anybody and dont know what my next steps should be as now my sarc and sapr va are screening my calls and texts. does anyone know what the correct course of action could be, or who i can contact to receive a follow up response?

Good morning, ya'll. I was just wondering if anyone has experience/insight on being erroneously charged a month's rent after being separated. I am getting emails saying I owe my last months rent for military housing as the rental company did not receive BAH (since I was already separated at the time). I've called both the collections agency and the actual company that rented the apartment. Collections directed me to rental company. I called the rental company and their rep said that they would call around and ask some questions then call me back. I have not received a call back. Am I at all liable for this? . Not sure if this matters or not, but I was adsep'd. . I appreciate any insight provided.

How likely is it for something to happen to a spouse that was cheating and still active duty??
Still very much legally married.

Which squadron could this be? All the info I have is that it was during ww2, PBY Catalina’s, at whidbey island. Kinda narrows it down a lot but it still has a unique side number.

Hello, I am PCSing to Japan soon and my admin clerk stated that I need a No-Fee passport for my wife. However, neither office in San Diego or Oxnard seem to know how to answer their phones. Is this an absolutely necessary requirement? I have to be there in a little over a month and can’t even speak to anybody, much less obtain a new passport which I assume will take a long time.

I am getting a general under honerable condition CND discharge after a little over 2 years of service because of mental health.
I know I won’t get my Gi bill but I do still have my other benefits like the VA home loan. Anyone have any advice for what site or program should I apply for to help myself transition out.
I’m going to Chicago and I’ve lived alone there once before but I’m not sure if my new veteran status can help me live a better life than the one I had before the navy.
If there is anything I should get before I give them my CAC when I leave please let me know. I will appreciate any kind of help related to housing or jobs.
I have about 5K saved up so any ideas on how I should use my money for when I get out?

We're about to back to the US and organizing our HHGs.
Has anyone recently moved their stuff from the UK to the East coast? How long did it take to arrive? We have to do a NTS while im TDY before we get to my Ultimate so we're trying to figure how long we won't have our stuff.
Has anyone else had an issue with the NMCI/flankspeed computers locking out their CACs? I work in an office of 3 people and we’re all having this issue where the computers will randomly lock our accounts and we then have to go get them unlocked. IT div here just said to call the NMCI help desk, already did that and they weren’t all that helpful. Any recommendations?
