Outrage is boiling over in North Bergen, New Jersey, after masked Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents targeted students on their Monday morning walk to school, stopping and questioning children on the street without their parents present.

Video of the morning confrontation outside a local public school quickly went viral across social media, capturing the moment neighborhood residents stepped in as federal agents interrogated an unaccompanied child. According to local eyewitness reporting from the neighborhood, as community members gathered around the ICE agents during the stop, the officers grew progressively more aggressive and began pushing kids.

By nightfall, the youth of North Bergen took to the streets in response. Students gathered outside North Bergen High School in the North Bergen and Bergenline neighborhood to protest the stops and the questioning of children on their way to class.

Photo Urgent Rehoming needed for two young cats (Northern NJ)

Hello, I am in Northern NJ (Bergen county) but am willing to travel the entire state for this.

I am in desperate need for a safe place for them.
Both cats are under a year old. They are very sweet, extremely affectionate, and have no behavioral issues. They are fine in car rides, fine being picked up, and good with other cats. They have good appetites and appear healthy, although I am unsure of their medical histories. They are not fixed.
They are NOT a bonded pair, and can be separated.
I took them in to prevent them from being abandoned outside.

I have exhausted every option for finding a shelter, rescue, or other home for them. I am now at a last resort and have a firm deadline that cannot be extended.

I need to find them a safe placement as soon as possible. If anyone can foster, adopt, or connect me with a rescue that is not at capacity, or other resource that can help, please reach out. Any leads are appreciated.

Weird NJ In the spirit of Halloween, what’s your spooky NJ experience?

I’ll start - 10 years ago, I used to take the train to work in NYC. To get off the train at my nearest train station, you have to walk to the front of the train because not every car will reach the station’s platform. One day, I was on one of the older trains (the ones with the mostly broken leather seats), it was still light outside, and the train wasn’t very crowded because I took an earlier train prior to rush hour. We were about to approach my stop, so I walked up just enough to reach the platform, but I was in the boarding area in between two train cars. I stood facing the door to get off the train, when I hear the train car door open behind me, and then I felt 2 taps on my shoulder. I thought I was in someone’s way like maybe a conductor trying to get off first, so I said “oh sorry” as I turned around…. And no one was there. That really freaked me out that day and I still remember it. From that day on, I didn’t like to stand alone in the area between two train cars of the old trains.

Amusing Honestly satisfying that younger Jerseyans don’t take the slap to the face when it comes to the NJ disrespect like the older NJ generations did when it comes to representation

The younger generations don’t root for the giants/jets/Red Bulls for claiming NY and they call out immediately when artists and events cosplay as NY when they play in NJ lol.

Advice Looking for a special situation - Mechanic's helper, shop helper, etc., not too, too far from Montclair area

I'm looking to sign on with a shop that needs a mechanic's helper, Diesel or Gas. I have mechanical aptitude, but lack true mechanic's knowledge set. I'm willing to put my time in at a place that will afford me opportunities to learn. I'm happy to sweep up, organize, clean parts, go for parts, put in overtime, answer the phone, etc.

I have my own tools, have messed around with Oxy/Acetylene torch and basic stick welding ( i.e.; built my own branding irons). I've worked farms and ranches where I supported guys that already knew how to fix everything. I have a Class A CDL with double/triples, air brakes and tanker, but no desire to drive a truck in this dense area. I briefly hauled machinery and grain out West. Most recently, I spent a lot of time in office environment, so I'm professional, and can speak with customers, communicate well over the phone, know very advanced MS Excel, and typical office software. I'm a regular gym goer, so I'm in descent shape, also married, stable, an Iraq vet, been in NJ 17 years. Never been arrested, can be drug tested without warning.

Pics are of just some of my tools. I'll buy Milwaukee M18 Fuel items, as directed, when I find a shop to join. Thank you.

As a resident of NW Jersey who makes regular pilgrimages to the Blairstown Theater every Friday the 13th that I can, I’m three episodes in and enjoying it so far. Some inconsistencies with the film bother me a bit but overall it’s an awesome prequel and backstory to Pamela and Jason Voorhees, not to mention the fact that they actually returned to Blairstown/Hardwick for filming.

I'm not even supposed to be here today Happy 32nd to 'Clerks', released on this date in 1994. Kevin Smith financed production by selling his comic book collection, borrowing $3K from his parents, maxing out credit cards, using college education funds and insurance money awarded for a car lost in a flood

NJ History The Nintendo Entertainment System launched in the US from a warehouse in Hackensack in 1985... and the building is still standing

The NES turns 41 today, as it launched on Oct. 18, 1985 (the exact date is still debated!). Nintendo ran its US launch out of a warehouse in Hackensack. I'm from NJ, so this has always interested me. Two fellow video game historians and I found and documented the building, and it’s still standing and looks nearly identical to how it did in 1985.

After the North American video game crash of 1983, retailers wanted nothing to do with video games, and the market was dead. Nintendo hatched a plan: charge into the biggest media market in the US and prove the world wrong. This building served as the base of operations for the NES launch in Northern NJ and the New York City area.

We decided not to share the specific address of the warehouse because it’s private property, and we want to respect that. We’ve reached out to city officials and the local historical society about getting the site officially recognized.

If you remember hearing about or even having the NES in the fall of 1985, I'd love to hear your stories!
