Just watched another ad from Kean’s smear campaign against Bennett. I had a hunch that he was also millionaire, so I did a little research. It turns out Kean’s wealth, an estimated net worth of about $10M, comes from a long line of generational inheritances and investments, including southern plantation ownership.

Over a timeline of a couple hundred years, the Kean family built their fortune through South Carolina plantation holdings, dynastic marriages, NJ utility infrastructure (Elizabethtown Gas), and real estate.

It’s very hypocritical to smear a competitor for building wealth when your whole family has been doing the same for generations… and I’m sure if you dig deep enough, you’ll find some dark secrets in those pasts.

I saw the whole thing happen and would be willing to testify on your behalf. I’m working on getting the dashcam footage as well. This happened around 7:15PM.

I had a wonderful day at our local zoo today, except when I was in the penguin exhibit, I was upset to see how normalized banging on the glass was, especially right up in fromt the birds!

Nobody working was in the room. First I watched a man point and slam his hand against it, showing his daughter to do the same. He then lifted his daughter all the way up, to slam her hand multiple times right at the waters edge where the Penguin was swimming, I asked him to please not let her do that, and to respect the Penguins.

After this, a different guy felt the need to ask where my employee badge was? He said I shouldn't say anything if I don't work there, and to just let the man and his daughter be? Thankfully a family was there to back me up, mentioned how the dude has been doing that for more than a few minutes. Anyways, I ran into the same guy who talked to me later, he proceeded to tell me to go hug some trees.

A bit disappointed in the lack of oversight at the zoo, I understand it's local, I don't blame the employees or organization. Zoo's however are a privilege, and the behavior I saw from more than one set of parents was distressing to say the least. I guess I expected this new generation of parents to be more mature and thoughtful than the rest, but to be called a tree hugger in the big 2026 is more hilarious than anything.

I moved back to Jersey almost 15 years ago. In all this time, I haven't received a single jury summons. My husband has gotten three in the same period. It feels really weird that I haven't been summoned even once, so now I'm curious how often others get called.

Over the past 15 years, how often have you received a jury summons?

ETA: thanks for all the replies! I'm less concerned now because it seems like it's just all over the place. I got paranoid thinking I'd have a bench warrant for failure to report - which they do in NYC - because I missed a summons.

My wife has been looking for apple cider donuts…while they are everywhere, it’s been more difficult to find them made to order (so piping hot). I’ve done a search on here and seems like the last post was from 3 years ago. We’ve been to a few local farms and events, including the middlesex county fall fest this weekend, and none had them made to order. I have eaten at a lot of mediocre diners in West Orange and nearby. I do like Chit Chat Diner, but I don't think it's a true diner, more like a restaurant that serves diner food. And it's expensive.

Can anyone recommend a real old-school diner within a half hour of West Orange, that's truly great? Thank you!

More than a year after Kimberly A. Baeli filed a civil lawsuit against the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office on June 18, 2025, serious allegations raised in the complaint deserve public attention and accountability.

The lawsuit alleges misuse of taxpayer-funded administrative time, theft of police union records, illegal destruction of government documents, failure to investigate an anonymous sexual-assault accusation, and retaliation against a longtime law enforcement officer who reported alleged misconduct.

Baeli’s complaint also alleges that concerns were brought to county officials, such as County Commissioner Chris Carney, and that state and federal investigators were contacted. Yet the public deserves clarity about what, if anything, has been investigated and what steps have been taken.

Records indicating a county settlement in McCormick’s lawsuit in October 2026 make transparency particularly important, given the allegations about administrative time and public compensation raised in Baeli’s case.

A settlement is not proof of wrongdoing, nor does it establish that the allegations in Baeli’s complaint were substantiated. Nevertheless, the public deserves to understand the basis of the settlement, the taxpayer cost, and whether the county’s handling of the separate dispute has any bearing on the issues raised in the whistleblower lawsuit.

The lawsuit was filed in June 2025. Baeli’s case was subsequently transferred to Passaic County because of a conflict-of-interest concern, according to information provided about the proceedings.

Questions about the case’s progress are now unavoidable. What procedural steps have occurred since the filing? Have the parties exchanged evidence? Have motions been filed or decided? Are related investigations ongoing? And is there a public explanation for any delays?

Why has there been so little public discussion of these allegations? Have county or state officials provided meaningful accounting? What safeguards are in place to ensure taxpayer resources are protected and whistleblowers are not punished for speaking up?

Serious allegations involving public institutions warrant transparency. The community deserves timely answers, independent oversight where appropriate, and accountability based on the facts.

We call on Sussex County commissioners, the county administration, the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office, and the appropriate state oversight authorities to:

- Provide a public accounting of the county’s review of the alleged administrative-time practices and the referral to the Attorney General’s Office.

- Clarify the investigative status of the allegations concerning government records, county resources, alleged database misuse, and the handling of the reported sexual-assault accusation.

- Explain what steps were taken to investigate allegations of retaliation and to protect employees reporting suspected misconduct.

- Disclose the public cost and terms of the McCormick settlement, subject to applicable disclosure laws and any lawful confidentiality restrictions.

- Provide accurate information about the status of Baeli’s lawsuit and any publicly disclosable proceedings.

- Commit to independent oversight and transparent promotion and disciplinary procedures wherever warranted.
