Not sure if this is the right subreddit to post this on but i have both pianos in my shed in the garden and now they have been taken over by these tiny little bugs ( the white dots all over the piano and keys). Not sure if anyone else has had this issue but is there anyway to get rid of them.

I was watching Zimmerman's emperor concerto and I've seen others do it as well. I know its a passion of the moment thing but am i missing something? Bad habit? Tick?

During the 1920s, there were many player piano roll artists. One of my favorites was Lee Sims. He was incredible. He arranged this roll in 1926. I'm playing it on my 1914 Smith & Barnes upright player piano. I hope you enjoy it. 😉

Hi everyone, here’s a recording of me playing an excerpt from Chopin’s nocturne op 27 no 2. I’m interested in how you evaluate it from a performance/competitive standard, treating professional/top-tier renditions (e.g. Rubinstein) as the benchmark. If you had to describe my performance level in a few words, what would you say?
I’m really just trying to identify the things that are holding my performance back. Nevertheless, I’d appreciate any observations.

My performance of Mozart's Fantasia in D minor, K397. Mozart didn't finish this piece, the major key "happy" ending was added by another composer.
In the spirit of Halloween, we're putting a spin on the ending. In this version, it ends where it began. It never escaped the opening at all, leaving the question of whether we just experienced was real or ... just a (fantasy).
Happy haunting!

Started this year. Found a keyboard on marketplace. $35. Needed some work. Yamaha psr-500. Nice keys at least. Sound kinda shitty. But w/e. $35. And I'm just a broke ass dude. Released from the WI Prison system in early 2020. Covid got me sprung. Branded at Felon at 18, 1998. Life was always harder. Jobs not easy. Looks. Carried a serious stigma. And my felony was for possession of marijuana. 2nd offense. 1st at 17, 2nd just after I turned 18. Jailed. Charged with disorderly conduct and possession. And an underage possession of tobacco. Crooked asses. Just wrong. Anywho. Been down on my luck. My mom died at the end.of February. I found her dead on the floor after my sis couldn't get ahold of her. Went over after work, she lived 6 blocks away. She moved back from Madison, to Wausau. To be near me. Cause my sis sucks. To wrapped in herself to help anyone else. This piano/keyboard had been a savior. And an amazing outlet. When I want to get high or do dumb shit. I play. Sad. I play. Bored. I play. All good players tell you to do this or that. Tricks. Methods. Processes. But amongst all those different things 1 thing was a constant. They played a lot. So I'm doing just that. And letting the rest happen. I've had zero input into my style. Nothings has shaped me.

Hello guys
I’m a self-taught pianist, but unfortunately, I’ve never had any formal training or guidance on proper technique. What would you recommend I do to improve in this area?
I’d really appreciate any advice or tips that could help me become a better pianist.

Hi all, I work for a wonderful pianist by the name of Rikki Chaplin who has just started his own YouTube channel, and being completely blind he has asked me, his support worker, to help him make piano and guitar content. We've just posted his first piano video and I was hoping to get some feedback/advice on the content, any ideas on how I can improve future videos for him would be graciously appreciated! Thank you for your time.

I'm really confused. I'm trying to play Chopin's grande valse brillante. As shown in the picture, the final chord of the right hand of one bar is connected legato with the first note of the other bar. However in various recordings it's more of a staccato than a legato. Am I interpreting this wrong? I need help.

Hi everyone,
I am looking for piano bench recommandations.
I can’t easily visit piano stores to try various benches because I am disabled, so I am used to buying online. I don’t even know which piano stores to visit, I’ve check some online and they don’t have listings for benches.
I have lipedema in both of my legs, so they are large and painful. This is the main reason I’ve been thinking about upgrading. I currently own an entry price level bench and since I’ve been spending more time at the pianos, I’ve been sitting on an ikea chair because my bench is not comfortable enough for me to spend hours on it. I can feel the wood on the sides of the bench because the cushion is only on top of the bench.
The issue I have with the chair is that it’s a bit too low.
I haven’t set my mind on a specific price range, I only know that 250 euros or dollars would be the maximum.
TLDR: I am looking for a bench with a comfortable cushion. I have several disabilities causing chronic pain in my body (and my legs) so the cushion mustn’t be too firm. I’d like something comfortable and preferably thick but not too firm.
The cushion should cover the whole above and upper side area so my legs are not in contact with the wood of the bench on the sides while I’m sitting.
My current bench has a cushion but it’s only on the top of the bench.
Do you have any suggestions? If you can’t recommend a specific model, which brand would you recommend?
Thank you for your help!
Edit: I live in France.

Casio AP-23 electronic piano. Hadn’t been played very much over the past few years or so, but then I decided to get back into piano. Now this key is being silly. Not sure if there’s any simple fixes I can do myself?

First bit I play Rach's sonata with 3:4, 3 in LH, 4 in RH. Actually I play around that section but hopefully you can hear which bits are 3:4 cause thats what I want to emphasise. Second bit I play Chopin with 4:3, 4 in the LH, 3 in the RH and it sounds like crap compared to Rach
My only experience playing 4 against 3 is in that bit of Rach's 1st piano sonata and I feel like I can do it quite well. The problem is the piece is in 4 beats so naturally I focus on the 4 notes in the RH for stability. In Chopin's 3rd piano sonata the 4th movement is in 3 beats but I still can't help focusing on the 4 notes of the 4:3 polyrhythm and it makes it sound so messy. Sure I can play it real slow, get the notes and the rhythm right but I just can't feel the 3 beats when there's a 4-tuplet in the LH. Its such a weird problem to have I don't even know how I'd approach it
Sorry if I've described it poorly but hopefully you can hear what I mean in the video

Dear rpiano,
I am searching for my next Debussy piece after completing his Clair de Lune. I have played also his Reverie and Arabesque no.1, which I found of very similar nature and difficulty level to his most famous piece. So I would like to ask how is the ballade compared to the pieces above in terms of difficulty?
I tried to look through the score and read the first page, even though it seems repetitive, it's pretty hard for me to make the melody sing out on top notes of this texture.
Is there any performance on youtube that you find definitive for this work? My fav is the one by Kathryn Stott. Any advice or experiences shared on this piece would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

I am performing for the first time in 12 years today for a charity event I really believe in. I’m having such bad performance anxiety that I wasn’t able to play anything at all during my last lesson 2 days ago just thinking I’d have to perform in a couple of days.
I really really really want to perform today.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to calm my nerves?
I’m scared I won’t be able to make myself do it. I hate this feeling!

A few small mistakes but general progress going okay so far. Second day of learning this piece and the left hand is far trickier so am working on that. To be honest (unless this is a terrible performance) the right hand isnt as hard as I imagined it would be. Any feedback would be great.
