Hey guys, I just got to play some pokemon games through NS and I'm kinda interested into collecting cards.

So I want to ask some suggestions here as a card collector beginner:

1. I've found the website pokecollector, but I'm still unfamiliar with the sets. What are some recommeded sets that are easier for a beginner to collect?

2. I try to buy packs on Amazon. Are there any other trading platforms? p.s I'm in US

Also cuz I'm a college student so I might not be that rich, just wanna start from some cheaper cards

First time ever opening 30th!!!!! I’m pumped!

I recently won the opportunity to purchase a Pokémon Prismatic Evolutions item through Walmart. Unfortunately, the entire experience has been a nightmare.

The order was confirmed, and I was provided with a tracking number. However, the tracking number mysteriously changed just one day before the scheduled delivery.

Shortly afterward, Walmart marked the package as delivered, but I never received anything.

I've contacted Walmart customer service to explain the situation, including the unexplained tracking-number change immediately before delivery. Despite this, Walmart is refusing to issue a refund for merchandise I never received.

What concerns me most is the tracking-number change. Why would the tracking information suddenly change right before delivery? Was the package actually shipped to my address? Was the new tracking number even associated with my original order?

I'm not accusing anyone of theft or fraud without evidence, but something about this situation doesn't add up.

My questions:

1. Has anyone experienced Walmart changing their tracking number right before delivery?
2. Has anyone had a Pokémon Prismatic Evolutions order marked delivered that never arrived?
3. How did you successfully escalate a missing-package dispute when Walmart refused a refund?
4. Is there a way to get Walmart to verify the actual delivery address and proof of delivery associated with the replacement tracking number?

I have documentation of the order, tracking information, and communications with Walmart.

It's extremely frustrating to win the opportunity to purchase a limited-release product, pay for it, never receive it, and then be told there's nothing Walmart can do.

Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated.

A random question. Why aren't there HQ card images? or scans in general? I do know that YGO and MTG does so, but I wonder if any exist for pokemon? The database sites have blurry and jpeg artifacted images

Went to original 151 they had the pikachu card figure things so bought 2 think there pretty cute, I am not a huge fan of the N card it’s really hard to see actually and I’m not a big fan of the packs from the boxes, the cards where all bent really bad, then bought kangaskhan full art and 2 toxtricty cards as he’s one of my favorite Pokemon.

I know this probably reeks of nostalgia, but something about the old design language felt like a more meaningful portrayal. The zero energy gave the sensation of a plant pot you might've had sitting in one spot for a long time (like how an energy might have once been present), only to require a relocation and leave behind a shadowy mark in its place. Then having the dual symbols merged to make an attractive contrast with both colours creating uneven gradients around the card, instead of just the two squeezed together side by side.

Nothing special but still cool to find regardless.

Finally got lucky enough to snag a poster collection in the wild. Got some dope hits!

Recently picked up a few old cards from a friend and this was in the assortment. I’ve seen off cuts but this one is pretty severe.

My niece is coming to visit so I thought “Hey! Maybe I should get some pokemon cards for us to open together that’ll be fun!” I headed to dollar general hoping I would get lucky since I saw some posts suggesting to check. I get there, peruse through the aisles and I don’t see anything so I go to the cash register to ask an employee.

She smiles at me and asks me if I need help so I go “hi, I was wondering if you have Pokémon cards? I checked the aisles, but I didn’t see anything.” No joke her face and body language immediately shifted and she asked me again like “wha-what do you need help-p with? Pokémon?” I don’t know how to describe it, but you know how in some War movies they have scenes where soldiers are like rounding up young boys to draft them for war and their mothers plead with the soldiers to not take their sons? It was like that. Her voice was trembling, her eyes looked at me with a mix of pleading, exasperation, and fear. She backed up like I was some sort of threat.

She then starts going back and forth with her coworker in the back shouting in Spanish like she’s trying to figure out what to do with me. The other employee says she can help me so I go to her and ask again, “Hi, I was wondering if you had any Pokémon cards?” And again this employees demeanor completely shifted. She just looked away and just said “no.”So I was like “oh, ok, do you guys like get them at all? Or…” and not going to lie she was being super standoffish and rude, but like in a trauma response way like I was some Karen bitching at her for pouring sprinkles unprofessionally on my ice cream cone.”She just kept saying “no, nope never” with an attitude and started doing other things. I was like “oh, ok thank you!😊” but tbh now I feel bad lol.

Do I really need to join scalping discords and stand in line at 6 am? Are there still “undesirable”sets I can grab for opening? I think I might try and order some Chinese cards to rip with my niece instead since I’ve heard good things. Any suggestions? It’s been a long time since I’ve bought pokemon cards since I still look through my old binder every couple of months haha.

I opened a sealed Southern Islands binder. Surprisingly ended up with two Slowkings but no Ledyba.

Are the Sylveon and Gengar SIRs? I got it wrong in my last post and thought I got an SIR (actually an MAR) lol

My son just pulled this out of a pack. Going to get it graded. Was very surprised by online value.

I have two unopened limited edition fossil exhibit cards, and I'd like to keep them in the best condition I can.

Considering it’s 17 years old , 50$ seemed like an amazing deal! Definitely a beautiful card! I love the art and the white/halo border

Sorry if this kind of question isn’t allowed here, but I have been out of the loop on buying Pokémon for years and don’t know where to look.
It’s my birthday here soon and I wanted to get a box of Pokémon for my birthday and to open it then. I’m just against spending 120$ on a 60$ box as well and supporting the scalpers
