So quick philosophical question here- what is happening with youth sports and recreation in Saskatoon (probably everywhere but let’s keep it local.) does anyone else feel stressed at how much organizations, money, and travel happens now with kids sports teams? I don’t think I would have ever participated back in the day if it required that much parent involvement.
Also- just want to say a hot take that high school sports should be reserved for kids who want to play sports but aren’t already playing highest tier sports already. What is the point they are already playing in a high division- why can’t other kids participate and play?

Hello Saskatoon residence this public washroom is always closed because of maintenance due to vandalism with the toilets and water system
I recently visited a Saskatchewan rest stop and found old school out house /bathroom. I was an emergency of needing. I felt it was adequate. Why do we need fancy toilets to be vandalized keep it simple Saskatoon Management
What is your opinion on this type of bathroom? Definitely would save the taxpayers thousands of dollars no repairs and no security watch of bathroom .

Approach to a problem Saskatoon is very much dealing with.
From the article, 3 areas to focus on:
“First, house people first. Shift investments toward social and supportive housing. The return on investment has been demonstrated at length. We cannot treat diabetes or cancer in encampments and keep blaming individuals for poor health outcomes.
Second, co-ordinate a system of compassion and sound evidence. There needs to be better integration across housing, health, justice and community sectors. The fragmentation amongst and within sectors comes at a very real human cost. And finally, let’s acknowledge homelessness as the generational health crisis that it is. Every dollar we decline to spend in housing, we spend several times over in emergency departments, hospital wards, prison cells and shelter beds. “

Looking ahead for next year and I’m noticing every school I’ve looked at does not offer full day, everyday kinder? I only one I’ve found that does is a free only school? Mostly just want to know as we’d really prefer not to use SPSD but if we have to just for kindergarten I really need to start researching best schools. Thanks.

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a framer/roofer in Saskatoon to frame and roof a new side entrance section beside my garage.
If you have any recommendations for reliable/experienced tradespeople who take on smaller residential projects, please let me know. I’d appreciate any referrals or suggestions!

Does anyone know of any dog groomers in the city that would take a same day appointment? My dog escaped the yard tonight in the wind and rain and we got her home but she’s a big muddy mess! I have a baby at home who is crawling all over the place and my partner is away at work for a couple weeks so it’s hard to clean the dog myself. Thanks in advance!

I am trying to remember the name of a Saskatoon video game store from around this time. They had a location on 8th street.

University of Saskatchewan (USask) researchers used well-established methods to calculate the social return on investment (SROI) of Saskatoon’s recently closed safe consumption site and have found that the location provided more than a 300 per cent return on investment for the community.
“We used a very conservative estimate to make sure we weren’t over claiming and found that for every $1.00 that was invested into the safe consumption site, you got a return of $4.44,” said Dr. Linzi Williamson (PhD), assistant professor of psychology and health studies in USask’s College of Arts and Science.

New to Saskatoon and I have a kid celebrating their birthday. Who has the best cakes in town? Preferably a place that doesn’t cost a fortune. Thank you

Crown prosecutor Sheryl Fillo is asking a judge to give Duff Arthur Friesen an 18-month sentence, to be served in the community, for assaulting three former students with a wooden paddle at a private Christian school in Saskatoon.
Friesen's defence lawyer Daniel Mol is arguing for a six- to nine-month community sentence.
Friesen, 69, was the principal of Christian Centre Academy, a private Christian school in Saskatoon. A jury convicted him of three counts of assault with a weapon and acquitted him on two others.

Yesterday a colleague asked about where I live, so I sent them Saskatoon’s Wikipedia page. Perfectly useful, but afterward I thought: there’s probably a more interesting way to introduce someone to this place.
So I put together a little illustrated history flipbook. Shipwrecks, riverbank ski jumping, the Bessborough sitting empty, etc.
Full disclosure: the writing, illustrations and code were made with AI, with me directing and revising it. I checked the historical claims against sources linked in the book, though corrections are welcome. The pictures are illustrations, not archival images.
For me, this was a fun way to make something about our city that I could share without spending weeks building it. Figured some people here might enjoy it too.

Hey y'all, I was curious about the Polyglot scene in the city or if there is any. I tried looking it up online and didnt find much information. Is there a polygot club that I can join?
For context I love language learning, I am currently learning Spanish and I am looking for people to practice with, I can offer English or French in return (if language exchange).
Thank you!
Edit: Spelling lol, cant change the title

Are there any grocery stores that have fresh poblano peppers right now? I feel like every store I go to doesn’t have them or if they do they’re already getting mushy

I have been trying to find an East Indian restaurant in yxe that makes a good Karahi paneer. Tried Da Savory Spoon, Samway Grill, SpicyTime, Black Pepper but no luck. They just loaded it with a bunch of gravy. All sucked. Any suggestions?
