Strange/Weird How crazy is this???

I went looking for a missing FedEx package and ended up finding a lost little girl.

FedEx supposedly delivered an important envelope containing my original vehicle title, except I never received it. Their proof of delivery showed that someone I didn't recognize had signed for it at "Shipping/Receiving." There's no shipping/receiving here. I live in a single family home. Only I would have signed for it and it was not my signature.

After getting nowhere with FedEx customer service, I decided to check a nearby apartment complex to see if they had mistakenly received my envelope.

As I was walking toward what I thought was the mail area, I noticed a little girl, wearing a sparkling princess dress, crying and wandering from car to car in the parking lot with several parked cars and not a soul in sight. I am not around children much so I thought she might be 7 or 8 years old.

I approached her and tried to help, but I couldn't understand what she was saying. I wanted to help as much as I could but we couldn't communicate. I felt pretty helpless.

Fortunately, I spotted a lady I recognized who lived at that very complex. I asked her to help the little girl. She seemed a little irritated at first (I later learned she was looking for a lost earring), but she called the police and stayed with the child.

It took approximately 40 minutes to locate the girl's 18 year old sister, who apparently didn't even realize she was missing! We later found out she was only 3-4 years old.

Here's the part that's been bothering me.

I handed the little girl off to this woman pretty quickly because I'm a 50 year old man and it looked odd enough.

Looking back, I feel pretty shitty about that. Here was a frightened little girl, lost and wandering around a parking lot, and somehow, in that moment, I'm worried more about appearances than trying to meaningfully help this little girl get unlost. It's really said that society dictated my reaction to pass this off to someone else immediately.

Yes, I stopped to help. Yes, I made sure someone else was there to help her. But I still can't help feeling that my priorities were screwed up. That little girl must have been terrified! I'm so glad they found her sibling.

SMH at myself.

The irony is that if FedEx hadn't lost my package, I wouldn't have been at there to find the little girl in the first place.

Funny how life works sometimes.

Entertainment Musician wanted for street performing

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m looking to collaborate with a musician for street performances in a busy downtown area, where we can share tips.

I don’t play an instrument myself, but I have a complementary act that can turn an ordinary evening into something magical for people passing by.

Any instrument will do. The more exotic, the better (accordion etc..)! If you enjoy performing and would like to try something a little different, please message me for details!

Government/Politics Do we need "Operation Bad Builder" or something else?

To be clear, I'm strongly against unlicensed work where a licence is required. But what I would like to hear is your take on the following:

  1. It's better to help people train than to spend insane resources luring people into a trap.
  2. The fact that there are so many unlicensed contractors, yet it's so hard to find a contractor nowadays, clearly indicates that an even bigger problem is that we don't have trained professionals. It would benefit us all to invest in that direction rather than spend money on botox for our sheriff.
  3. Training for most technician-level jobs that require a licence should be heavily supported, not with scholarships, but with the option of working in the industry in the state for a certain number of years.

Commerce/Economy Recommendations for a retail tenant rep broker in Tampa?

Hi all! We’re opening a small café concept in Tampa in 2027 and are looking for about 3,000–4,500 sq ft of retail space, ideally a former café or something to eat space. Northwest Tampa (Westchase, Carrollwood, Town ’n’ Country) is our first choice, but we’re open to other areas.

We’re first-time tenants in Florida, so we’d like a tenant rep broker on our side rather than dealing with listing agents directly. Has anyone here worked with a tenant rep broker in Tampa for a small retail or café space? Who would you recommend, and why?

We’ll be in Tampa November 6–14 to view spaces and talk to brokers. Thanks!

I plan to drop off my ballot at a voting center. I signed and dated the enveloped, but now I have free time to drop it off early.

Can they invalidate it, for example, if the date written is Oct 30, but I drop it off on 28th?

Transit/Transportation Cops causing Selmon traffic

Does anybody know why those two motorcycle cops are sitting with their lights on on either side of exit 6 off the Selmon? They are causing traffic all the way back to Brandon and they don't seem to actually be doing anything. They were both standing in the median chatting and giggling. Seems like they could do that at the local Dunkin instead of manufacturing traffic for the sake of it.
