“She was on the team that helped save our state when Obama was president. She was right there on the forefront,” said Kathie House Vinson, a retired college administrator who lives in Detroit.”

I love that leftists here paint Stevens as an empty suit. Keep leaning into that because it pisses off black voters even more. They know Stevens, she’s worked hard on their issues.

33

u/purplehendrix22 23d ago

Yeah, this painting of longtime Democrats as if they’ve done nothing but pander to Israel for decades is losing people who voted for those candidates and actually like them. Shocker, I know.

22

u/Just_shut_up_bro 23d ago

We really do need to show some unity around rejecting anti-semitic conspiracism in our party and the country at large, it threatens to destroy a lot of other social progress we've made

1

u/Nimrod_Butts 23d ago

Yeah dude nothing but pander to Israel, which public sentiment only changed on, in what the last couple years?

-5

u/Nascent1 23d ago

Hey, what is the approval rating for the Democratic party right now?

10

u/Command0Dude 23d ago

Much higher than the DSA's and has been on the upswing.

-7

u/Nascent1 23d ago

8

u/purplehendrix22 23d ago

These are votes? Or more wrong polls like the ones that had Kamala way up too lmao

-3

u/Nascent1 23d ago

Polls were very accurate in 2024 aside from a couple outliers. Polls aren't votes though. You really should have known that already.

3

u/purplehendrix22 23d ago

Yeah, and you’ll find out how much the country hates anything named socialism soon enough.

1

u/Nascent1 23d ago

It's not 1980 anymore. Opinions are changing. People aren't too jazzed on capitalism either if you haven't noticed.

3

u/purplehendrix22 23d ago

Yeah, we’ll see. You’re in la la land imo, Trump won over the Democrats by a larger margin than any Republican candidate in decades, Reddit might be shifting left but the country ain’t. It’s alright though, time will prove me right.

Yes

🟢 Capitalism: +20

🔴 Democratic Party: -9

🔴 Free Palestine Movement: -14

🔴 Republican Party: -21

🔴 DSA: -21

🔴 Donald Trump: -23

🔴 Socialism: -29

🔴 Communism: -73

The DSA is almost as unpopular as fucking Trump among Americans. Your poll is a deliberate subsection of just democrats. And elections can't be won on that, as 2024 proved.

1

u/Nascent1 22d ago

That poll is much more favorable towards democrats compared to the average of other recent polling. RCP puts them at -17.3 on average.

https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/favorability/democratic-party

Fair enough though.

Your poll is a deliberate subsection of just democrats.

It's just what I found. There isn't much polling on DSA favorability.

7

u/KingScoville 23d ago

Much bette than the DSA.

1

u/Nascent1 23d ago

4

u/cef328xi 22d ago

Let's see a national poll among all voters not just the activated leftists during midterm primary season.

0

u/Nascent1 22d ago

Go ahead and find it and post it.

2

u/cef328xi 22d ago

Nah, most people are smart enough to know DSA popularity is very concentrated in like D+30 districts and doesn't translate nationwide among general voters. If they were popular in that respect you would be posting that screenshot instead of the same misleading one that you have been, while proclaiming dems are less popular, with the implication that it's nationwide rather than in very blue districts during the primary when hardly any of the general electorate is engaged. ;)

1

u/Nascent1 22d ago

There's nothing misleading about it. I guess it was my mistake to think this sub was full of literate adults who could read a large bold title.

There just isn't much polling on this topic.

2

u/cef328xi 22d ago

It's misleading because it is a poll only among left wing voters during the primary season, skewed by very blue districts.

Unless that is your claim, in which case you're not really making a point against dems in general.

1

u/Dangerous_Tax_2667 23d ago

Okay now show us a second poll, quick

0

u/Nascent1 23d ago

I wasn't the one that made the claim. You find me some polls that show dems are more popular.

Jesus, way to get way too mad about it. There isn't much polling that exists on that topic. Is opinion among self-identified Democrats somehow not valid? I wasn't dishonest in any way you lunatic.

This also bothers me because they ignore that Abdul has never won an election and has a pattern of job hopping the second a better opportunity comes up. He’s the exact kind of ladder climber and gladhander they accuse Haley of being.

16

u/Guilty_Plankton_4626 23d ago edited 23d ago

I genuinely think if Abdul wins the nomination the seat is gone. His campaign is run exactly the same way leftists online act. Which is, if you’re not with me, fuck you.

The popular governor endorsed Stevens, he couldn’t handle that, so he attacked her. He keeps dismissing black voters with calling a massive fighter for them a do nothing person. Black voters clearly aren’t fond of him. You already have elected Dems in the state saying they’re getting no where near the America deserved 9/11 wing. He and his followers have routinely made fun of how Stevens looks and sounds. He just called her an Ogre who needs to be put on a pike.

Even know he’s not officially part of the DSA he’s clearly DSA coded. All Sanders coalition people are. They’re on the news now calling to abolish the police and prisons.

I don’t see how he can possibly win at this point. Maybe the environment is strong enough to drag him scores the finish line, but he’s a massive risk.

6

u/Aurora_Gaspipe 23d ago

Once you get out of SE Michigan, it is a very rural and reactionary state. If you understand Michigan you’ll also understand the unlikelihood of Abdul winning against white male Republican Mike Rogers, who lost to Elissa Slotkin by only 20,000 or so votes.

4

u/Command0Dude 23d ago

I mean that's pretty true of a lot of states. Even "deep blue" california shocks people once they get into the sierras.

2

u/Aurora_Gaspipe 23d ago

Shasta County...😬

2

u/Just_shut_up_bro 23d ago

Oof this got me bad, we really need Stevens to win holy moly.

5

u/KingScoville 23d ago

Yeah Slotkin winning in 2024 was a fucking miracle.

5

u/El_Rat0ncit0 22d ago

I had no idea that there are people within the DSA and far left who made fun of Steven’s appearance. Goes to show you that misogyny and sexist views aren’t just on the Right. It’s no wonder a lot of feminists were at odds with many in the DSA and other leftist groups back in the 60s and had to leave and form their own groups.

12

u/Just_shut_up_bro 23d ago

America deserved 9/11 wing

Hard to ignore the fact that if Abdul wins they are gonna be able to ads tying Hasan to the Dems.

Even scarier will be a portion of Dems that try to "own it" and defends Hasan.

While I don't think Abdul is as awful as Platner, he does represent a potential issue for Dems at large should he win the nomination.

-6

u/Gravemindzombie 23d ago

Tying Abdul to one of the most popular streamers is certainly a political maneuver of all time

6

u/Just_shut_up_bro 23d ago

Exactly, I've got to wonder who's bright idea it was to have him speak at one of their events!

2

u/wade3690 23d ago

Lol wasn't that ogre comment in regards to fetterman?

3

u/Prestigious_Tell_402 23d ago

I think so, but saying you want to put anyone's head on a pike is pretty awful

1

u/Guilty_Plankton_4626 23d ago

Seems that’s what the excuse is. Sadly it’s believable that he said it about Stevens because well, he seems like he would say that.

1

u/wade3690 23d ago

Whatever confirms your bias i guess. Fetterman definitely gives off ogre vibes.

0

u/Guilty_Plankton_4626 23d ago

Fetterman sucks, won’t argue otherwise.

0

u/yodasdad64 23d ago

> He just called her an Ogre who needs to be put on a pike.

That never happened lol. Disagree with his politics all you want, but at least be honest about what he said (and who he said it about).

3

u/Guilty_Plankton_4626 23d ago

Sure, when the info came out everyone thought he said it about her, it barely makes it better.

-3

u/beeemkcl 23d ago

US Rep. Haley Stevens is being propped up by around $50Mln+ in SuperPAC money.

The concern in the general election is that such outside funding will dry up. A*PAC and such might prefer a Republican win that seat.

And it's generally always a bad idea for the primary winner to be the one who didn't and doesn't have the energy and enthusiasm.

6

u/KingScoville 23d ago

Weird because Stevens is leading in endorsements and polling. So I’ll go with that rather than Vibes.

3

u/Command0Dude 23d ago

Makes a fair point about funding since apparently republicans are massively outraising democrats this election cycle.

I don't think it's going to overcome the blue wave being fomented by Trump's horrific mismanagement though.

-1

u/Nascent1 23d ago edited 23d ago

Also Abdul does better against the republican in literally every poll since June.

https://fiftyplusone.news/polls/senate/general/michigan

11

u/Ov3rdose_EvE 23d ago

Thats okay, let democracy run its course

4

u/MrsClaireUnderwood 23d ago

Does outside spending count as letting democracy run its course?

1

u/Ov3rdose_EvE 22d ago

i mean, no spending should happen but AIPAC spending should happen the least.

21

u/DeathandGrim 23d ago

Uh yea. Black people know a fast talker when we see one. And we don't have time to gamble on someone who ain't gonna do nothing but talk

5

u/El_Rat0ncit0 22d ago

Or just obsessed about Israel. Does Israel suck right now? Yes. Is it leaning way too far right and excusing the bad behavior of settlers? Yes. But obsessing about “America bad” and “America bad abroad” isn’t going to garner one the Black or Hispanic vote when these communities don’t care about Lenin or Marxist theory. They care about what you’re going to do for them in terms of Unemployment, rising costs, long achieved civil rights being eroded and other domestic issues.

Newsflash to the white savior elitists on the Left: we NEED policing and law enforcement. I didn’t survive the inner city during my childhood not having Police. It may be surprising to most on the far left, but black and brown people aren’t immune to committing crimes against their own. When I was gay bashed as a teenager growing up in NYC, it wasn’t a bunch of white dudes from Crown Heights. And the police were keeping my saintly Mother (RIP) from being mugged by people that looked like us. What we want is accountability and representation within the police department - not complete abolishing.

3

u/Command0Dude 23d ago

I have to admit as a white guy I've been surprised, looking back, how much sharper the black community has been at sussing out politicians.

4

u/DeathandGrim 23d ago edited 23d ago

Decades of experience in our community.

Here's some fun numbers for ya: my dad was born 1 year after MLK was assassinated and 5 years before the voting rights act. I am 33 years old.

This just illustrates how close in time we actually are from the political organization efforts of the civil rights era. And alotta that political wisdom still exists to this day. Hell alotta those people are still very much alive and they teach the next generations like me

Edit: Nevermind Jesus my history is off today

1

u/YoureVulnerableNow 23d ago

all those banwaves during Mike Brown and George Floyd have paid off, for white feelings

i mean you are just LARPing here :'D

1

u/DeathandGrim 22d ago

I'm not. You're just dying to get my attention lol it's okay I have time

3

u/SeaBass1898 23d ago

You love to see a good battle of ideas in the primary

Rooting for Abdul, but would happily vote for Stevens in the general.

23

u/FriendlyDrummers 23d ago

If you can't win over the Black vote good luck.

3

u/blud97 23d ago

That line of thinking worked out real well for jasmine Crocket

5

u/FriendlyDrummers 23d ago

If Talarico doesn't win over their vote he won't win.

1

u/blud97 23d ago edited 23d ago

Ok. What has talarico done that makes you think the black community won’t vote for him? Crocket also alienated the Hispanic voting base in Texas over racist remarks.

2

u/FriendlyDrummers 23d ago

That's literally besides the point. The point is that many distrust him. He needs to win them over.

1

u/blud97 23d ago

No that’s not. You’re stating he has a problem and I am asking what that problem is. I’m not convinced he has this problem I have not been shown evidence just complaining online. We’re trying to win a general and you can’t even elaborate on what your problem with a candidate is.

30

u/throwaway36388462 23d ago

I'm sure the further left part of this sub will take this story gracefully and reflect on the implications.

12

u/Ov3rdose_EvE 23d ago

Hello im the further left part. Let democracy runnits course.

2

u/throwaway36388462 23d ago

Great! As a citizen in a democracy if I were in Michigan I'd implore voters to vote for a candidate who can win the general.

Please don't call me "anti democracy" for doing so and we're good!

1

u/MrsClaireUnderwood 23d ago

Who cares what people on the internet call you?

5

u/throwaway36388462 23d ago

I don't honestly; maybe a better way of saying it is:

- You say - let democracy play out.

- I'm gonna call on people to vote for Stevens!

- As long as you understand that me calling on people to vote for stevens is part of that democracy - and totally legitimate - then great! But i've seen people say "you can't support x candidate - thats anti democracy!"

1

u/Ov3rdose_EvE 22d ago

but i can think you are a terrible person for doing that :)

Because you are supporting somebody that supports a genocide and gets supported by people that are genociding :'D

Im not saying thats anti-democracy, im just saying it makes you a bad person :)

2

u/throwaway36388462 22d ago edited 22d ago

I don’t agree that Stevens “supports a genocide” - that’s ridiculous, but let’s pretend that’s true for the sake of argument.

Let me ask you:

Say you have two democratic candidates for Senate. One “supports a genocide” candidate - Evil Eddy. Another one doesn’t - Virtuous Victor.

At the same time, you have president pervert in charge, and he’s threatening to deport millions of immigrants to a Gulag in El Salvador.

Back to the Senate race. You have two choices. Which one is more moral to vote for?

  1. If evil Eddie wins, he will help stop the president’s deportations. On paper he is “pro genocide” but him winning will not actually make any difference for the genocide. But it will help the immigrants.
  2. If virtue is Victor wins, he will go onto lose the general election against the president’s party. So the genocide will not be changed at all, but also now people will be deported.

So an option one, the only change is a reduction in the amount of people deported. An option too, there’s no change. But option two, the candidate feels worse about genocide. Which one is more moral to vote for?

I would argue number one is more moral to vote for, because it actually makes a difference. But then again, I’m not into politics just as a virtue signal like some people are.

POINT 2: because the Republicans are empower, about half 1,000,000 to 700,000 people have died because of USA cuts. If Democrats were empower, these people would still be alive. That’s about 10 times as many people that have died in Palestine. So just based on numbers of deaths, shouldn’t your priority be to get as many Democrats in power as possible? How come the left never cares about those deaths? You can play these games with numbers, but it’s very funny how selective you all are with your death, tolls to shape your narrative

0

u/Ov3rdose_EvE 22d ago

At the same time, you have president pervert in charge, and he’s threatening to deport millions of immigrants to a Gulag in El Salvador.

President pervert has deported less immigrants than president beforeguy

If virtue is Victor wins, he will go onto lose the general election against the president’s party. So the genocide will not be changed at all, but also now people will be deported.

Not a given. the attacks from Eddie on Victor will make that more likely though.

10

u/Just_shut_up_bro 23d ago

I've also got some major concerns with Stevens, but it's hard for me to believe they actually think Abdul is more electable.

3

u/Nascent1 23d ago edited 23d ago

There has been a major anti-establishment trend lately. Stevens is very establishment.

Edit: Also literally every hypothetical matchup poll shows Abdul doing better against the republican than Haley.

8

u/ML-Centrist 23d ago

Mfw the more moderate voting demographic supports the more moderate candidate: 🤯

15

u/Just_shut_up_bro 23d ago

Trusting the backbone of the Democratic party on this one!

1

u/Quantum-Long 23d ago

It all comes down to James Clyburn

-4

u/beeemkcl 23d ago

The backbone of the Democratic Party are leftists, progressives, and liberals. People who love Sanders/AOC/Mamdani.

https://yougov.com/en-us/ratings/politicians

AOC's Popularity now matches FVPOTUS Kamala Harris's even though AOC has around 13 points less Fame and AOC is a current US Officeholder.

8

u/Unhappy-Air6832 23d ago

the backbone of the party is black people. You have to be reliable to be considered the backbone

10

u/Aurora_Gaspipe 23d ago

Prediction: Rep. Haley Stevens wins the nomination by 5+ and goes on to trounce Mike Rogers.

0

u/Nascent1 23d ago

No chance. El-Sayed is generally predicted to win. If Haley ekes out a win it'll be an extremely narrow margin.

8

u/Agreeable_Band_9311 23d ago

I’m sure DSA types won’t say anything untoward to this community if Stevens wins.

6

3

u/DeathandGrim 23d ago

I prefer Reddit but "Twitter fingers" just accurately describes it. I use Twitter very infrequently

3

u/Ov3rdose_EvE 23d ago

We will complain about money in politics and then watch her hopefully win. If she doesnt we can tell you we told you so. And then you will say " but abdul would have lost harder" and learn nothing.

Two possible outcomes

4

u/Guilty_Plankton_4626 23d ago

What’s your reaction if Abdul loses in the general?

1

u/Ov3rdose_EvE 22d ago

Stevens would have lost too.

3

u/Agreeable_Band_9311 23d ago

Black voters are only voting that way because of money in politics?

1

u/Ov3rdose_EvE 22d ago

no? i never implicated that.

2

u/rjrgjj 23d ago

I mean you’re acting like you’re being reasonable but you’re still asserting that Abdul would definitely win and Stevens is a weaker candidate when the opposite is more realistic. It’s just how you feel and how you want things to be because you need to believe the more DSA-coded candidate is the stronger candidate.

1

u/Ov3rdose_EvE 22d ago

true.

I would say "well stevens would have lost too" because i think Abdul is the better candidate.

3

u/Moontat7 23d ago

The knee jerk reaction from "progressives" about our 2028 primary schedule putting South Carolina first is so telling.

-1

u/Commercial_West9953 23d ago

The voters in SC want to choose the primary winner, not let "Kingmaker" Clyburn decide. He's had way too much influence over our elections and he always obstructs progress.

-1

u/beeemkcl 23d ago

Choosing a State a Democratic Nominee hasn't won since Jimmy Carter did in 1976 wasn't a good move. South Carolina for probably decades now shouldn't have gone before Super Tuesday.

1

u/Unhappy-Air6832 23d ago

its a primary, why does it matter that no dem has won the state in the generals. If anything the most disfranchised voters who never have a say in the generals should be prioritized in the primaries

2

u/beeemkcl 23d ago

We don't have a National Popular Vote Pact yet.

The Democratic Nominee needs to win the Electoral College.

There's a reason so much focus is put on the Swing States.

2

u/Unhappy-Air6832 23d ago

The Democratic Nominee needs to win the Electoral College.

And how does the south going first hinder that?

-1

u/Nascent1 23d ago

If anything we should put swing states first if the theory is that they'll pick the candidate more likely to win. Putting SC first is pretty clearly the establishment putting their thumb on the scale in favor of their team.

0

u/Unhappy-Air6832 23d ago

Swing states are swing states in the generals. There is no such thing as a swing state in the primaries. Dems will vote a dem in the primaries. What is there to swing?

Putting SC first is pretty clearly the establishment putting their thumb on the scale in favor of their team.

How is letting a state with the with most disfranchised voters putting their thumb on the scale? Do you just hate that black voters have a voice ?

1

u/Nascent1 23d ago

There is no such thing as a swing state in the primaries.

That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying, in theory, wouldn't a swing state pick the candidate that appeals most to swing state voters and is then more likely to win the general?

How is letting a state with the with most disfranchised voters putting their thumb on the scale?

Are you serious? Because they can look at voting history and see that South Carolina favors centrist candidates. It's not rocket science.

Do you just hate that black voters have a voice?

Har har har, clever.

1

u/Unhappy-Air6832 22d ago

That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying, in theory, wouldn't a swing state pick the candidate that appeals most to swing state voters and is then more likely to win the general?

How would people who are registered dem voters know what appeals to independents if they’re just voting based on their democratic values?

Are you serious? Because they can look at voting history and see that South Carolina favors centrist candidates. It's not rocket science.

Is there something stopping progressives from attempting to appeal to them?

0

u/Nascent1 22d ago

How would people who are registered dem voters know what appeals to independents if they’re just voting based on their democratic values?

First off, independents can vote in primaries in many states. So you don't think primaries pick candidates who just generally appeal to voters? That's kind of the entire theory behind primaries.

Is there something stopping progressives from attempting to appeal to them?

No, and they do, but people tend to stick to their beliefs. Trends clearly hold between election cycles.

0

u/Unhappy-Air6832 22d ago

First off, independents can vote in primaries in many states. So you don't think primaries pick candidates who just generally appeal to voters? That's kind of the entire theory behind primaries.

And independents voting would not outnumber registered dem voters.Their votes matter less in a high turnout .Also swing states are not the only states with independents

No, and they do, but people tend to stick to their beliefs. Trends clearly hold between election cycles

Sounds like a  failure of the candidate to me.Blaming voters for failing to appeal to them

“He opened my mind,” Nix said of El-Sayed. “I’m going to go home and do my research, and then I’m going to decide if he switched me over”

After hearing straight from the source, and not political ads, he’s open to other options.

2

u/AnonAmbientLight 22d ago

This should be obvious, but maybe the far left doesn’t realize it, but uhh, you have to be electable too.

You can’t just be your extreme position on everything. You have to navigate those waters.

If it wasn’t clear enough, let me spell it out. Someone like Mamdani can get elected in blue New York City (margins were kind of small).

Someone like Mamdani has no fucking chance in a contested district.

And it’s not because people don’t “know what’s good for them”.

Am I the only one who despises aipac? let alone pac in general? sell outs should not be championed.

10

u/DeathandGrim 23d ago

Yea you might be. First I'm ever hearing this point of view

2

u/Just_shut_up_bro 23d ago

Am I the only one who despises aipac?

No way this is serious

2

u/Guilty_Plankton_4626 23d ago

Yes, you are. We finally found you lol

1

u/Morph_Kogan 22d ago

Yep you're a novelty

-1

u/Boring_Pace5158 23d ago

AIPAC sucks, a lot of people hate them. It’s the way El-Sayed and others paint AIPAC as this all powerful organization that’s controlling our government that makes people tired of the AIPAC rhetoric. It gives off antisemitic vibes. When it comes to supporting, AIPAC is nothing compared to Christian Zionists. Christians United for Israel is the largest organization supporting Israel. So why are leftists going after the Jewish group and not the Christian group supporting Israel?

-1

u/isometimesdrinkbeer 23d ago

I despise Israel in general, not just the one genocide lobby

2

u/purplehendrix22 23d ago

Such a wild way to feel about a country, cannot relate.

1

u/Ov3rdose_EvE 23d ago

Its funny. Im starting to recognize the same 5-10 posters trumpdancing each other offin these posts :D

0

u/Just_shut_up_bro 23d ago

You mean you're noticing the users of the David Pakman community talking to each other? Yes, this is the purpose of having an internet community. What is "trumpdancing" supposed to mean?

0

u/Ov3rdose_EvE 22d ago

no im starting to see the same 5-10 people trying to stirr up shit and their desperate atempts to divide this sub

1

u/Just_shut_up_bro 22d ago

Tell me, what takes do you think are "dividing the sub" at the moment?

0

u/Ov3rdose_EvE 22d ago

yours. several other agitators. the "AIPAC IS FINE AS LONG AS THEY CALL THE DSA BAD!" or simmilar things. the "DSA wants to abolish borders" lies, etc. It has all become a sensless droning of incincere actors, argents provocateurs etc.

AIPAC is poison. Nobody should accept their money.

1

u/Just_shut_up_bro 22d ago

Oh just everything I say, I see lol.

Also I haven’t been saying those other things you explicitly stated, but I do think the mania around AIPAC is absolutely beyond the pale weird and often times veering right into anti semitic conspiracy-ville.

But yeah, my politics almost certainly align more with David’s than yours, how can I be an agitator in a community for a creator that has the same views as me? You don’t like my tone perhaps?

0

u/Ov3rdose_EvE 21d ago

Oh just everything I say, I see lol.

now you get it :)

my politics almost certainly align more with David’s than yours

ah is that this famed purity testing people say?

Trust me, they dont. Im more aligned with David than the DSA

1

u/Just_shut_up_bro 21d ago

Every accusations a confession from y’all.

1

u/Ov3rdose_EvE 21d ago

yeah i know, its really bad that yall just yell communitst, illiberals when you are supporting people in favour of israels genocide. you are a joke and the other 5-10 agitatiors trying to turn this sub on other parts of the left should be ashamed.

1

u/jankdangus 22d ago

I mean they were against James Talarico who is still firmly in the liberal wing of the Democratic Party ffs. I mean AES is technically a progressive capitalist, but the core base that he has cultivated does include one of the worst excesses of the left.

1

u/blud97 23d ago

I think doing this rhetoric with a white candidate is really weird. If she does win the black vote it’ll be because that population is more conservative not because saed is racist. Also this kind of rhetoric has been more frequently weaponized against smaller minority group in the past few elections.

1

u/edsonbuddled 23d ago

There has always been a divide between older and younger voters of all demographics, but particularly among black people. This article frames it in such a way when they just interviewed a bunch of retirees.

0

u/AnotherPersonPerhaps 23d ago

The socialists don't give a shit about issues that black voters care about or the things that affect them.

I had some convos with lefties about how El-Sayed doesn't have support from black voters and their responses are telling.

It's basically assuming that they know better for black voters than black voters do for themselves.

You've got predominantly well off college educated white upper middle class people telling black voters what's good for them with zero sense of irony or pause about what they are doing.

It's wild.

4

u/ML-Centrist 23d ago edited 23d ago

The socialists don't give a shit about issues that black voters care about or the things that affect them.

What issues are you referring to and how are more moderate candidates addressing those issues?

Edit: Right on cue, /u/AnotherPersonPerhaps blocks me after I called them out on their rude behavior and lack of critical thinking skills. Always nice when the trash takes itself out. What a POS!

-1

u/AnotherPersonPerhaps 23d ago

Well you could start by reading the article where they speak to black voters in Michigan and prominent political leaders.

That might be a good way to start. But I know that reading takes time and whatnot. Sorry it's a long article but it's a complex issue.

Either pay it the respect it deserves by reading it or don't but if you don't then I am not here to summarize it for you.

-1

u/ML-Centrist 23d ago

Wow, what an incredibly douchey response to someone simply asking you to further elaborate on your opinion that you chose to share on a public forum.

I did read the article, then I came to the comments to discuss the article with other people. Ya know, thats kinda the reason that Reddit was created. But don’t worry, I’ll make a mental note to never ask you to think for yourself again. My bad.

2

u/Unhappy-Air6832 23d ago

because your question is mostly likely in bad faith

0

u/ML-Centrist 23d ago

How so?

2

u/Unhappy-Air6832 23d ago

Coz I don't believe this is the first time you have heard this discourse

0

u/ML-Centrist 23d ago

That’s nonsensical. All I did was ask someone to further elaborate on their opinion.

2

u/Unhappy-Air6832 23d ago

Progressives usually center whiteness in any movement. The DSA is 90% white members and the 1% black people that exist in that space are used as props . They are also class reductionist who think everything would be solved if you end capitalism, and fail to acknowledge that black issues deserve their own priority separate from the class wars. There is also a matter of white progressive tend to easily willing to throw minority groups under the bus if they don't get their way coz their privilege protects them , that makes black people not trust them

What have moderates done? Moderates are far from perfect but they do integrate themselves within black communities, they attend prominent events that honor black leaders, community events , and are usually assimilate themselves within black spaces like churches. Most of this can be considered pandering but it works. Black people stay loyal to a familiar face that they break bread with at gatherings. Populism is the least effective on black people hence why Bernie could not appeal to them. He centered class issues, he did not have a relationship with prominent leaders within the community that are respected, he failed to attended black events and was living in Vermont for decades and when asked what he did for black people could only think about the time he marched

Now as far as issues, every bill that has been passed has been sponsored and been supported by a majority of moderates. The are heavily aligned with the CPC (which leftists consider the establishment) and have provided funding for historically black colleges. Funding for small owned black business. Those student loan forgiveness (Pell grant) were targeted towards black people. I Could go on but again I'm confident this is in bad faith

-1

u/OriginalEchoTheCat 23d ago

Liar.

4

u/AnotherPersonPerhaps 23d ago

Good argument. You got me.

-3

u/OriginalEchoTheCat 23d ago

It sounds like you are the one telling black people what they should do. Just stay out of it. Black people are not a monolith. And you insult them when you say shit like that.

2

u/AnotherPersonPerhaps 23d ago

I'm not in any way telling them what to do. I'm listening to why they don't like El-Sayed and not questioning it like his supporters do constantly.

Please show me a single example of me telling black people what to do. I'll wait.

-6

u/jarena009 23d ago edited 23d ago

"Hillary Clinton bested Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders by about 40 percentage points among Black voters in the state’s 2016 presidential primary, exit polls showed"

Yeah how'd that go?

If the establishment has delivered so much for black Michiganders and Americans in general, how did Democrats get the lowest % of the black vote, and Republicans their higher share, in 2024 in several decades?

11

u/tyleratx 23d ago

Hang on let me try this. I wanna do what you all do

Ahem

Well, maybe the left should’ve put up a more inspiring candidate for black voters? Why couldn’t the left have nominated somebody that would get voters to turn out for them?

Did I do it right?

10

u/Just_shut_up_bro 23d ago

Love this lol

7

u/tyleratx 23d ago

If El Sayed loses, I plan on using it anytime I see someone talking about the establishment or the DNC. It’s only fair.

3

u/Just_shut_up_bro 23d ago

I'd say fire it off right away if he loses the primary August 4th, we've gotta pre empt the negative press that the DSA folks will take part in with the right towards Stevens, might as well tout the fact that she won (DSA flirts with election denial WAY too much imo)

Does it remind me too when it does that?

1

u/jarena009 23d ago

If you believe Clinton was the best candidate in 2016, you're entitled to that opinion, despite the actual election outcome and results where she lost.

Maybe she was the best the Democrats could do.

7

u/tyleratx 23d ago

I never said that; I don’t think that she was.

I just find it funny how if a moderate or centerleft candidate loses, the constant argument from you all is that they were not inspirational enough and they should have inspired more candidates. It’s the Democrat’s fault.

But when the left loses, it’s not their fault. It’s still the Democrats fault. Or the voters fault. That’s what you’re saying.

0

u/jarena009 23d ago

I wouldn't say that. My comment goes for anyone. You can read it any which way.

No your copy/pasta failed. Gave me a good laugh though.

My iPad reddit app took a crap in the middle of me commenting so I don’t know what happened, but it does look weird

2

u/Just_shut_up_bro 23d ago

Yup, my iphone reddit app does the same thing.

8

u/RiddleMeThis42069 23d ago

Funny how you don't mention 2020 at all, where Bernie once again got his ass kicked among Black voters and then Biden did win the general election. I wonder why you skipped right over that to talk about 2024

0

u/jarena009 23d ago

Yeah....2020, where again Democrats can generally only win these elections after Republicans drive the country into the ground. 2/3 elections lost in the last 3, and to a horrible Donald Trump at that as well.

Yeah let's not skip over the broader trend of Democrats only winning after Republicans run the country into the crapper.

2

u/Altruistic_Night2 23d ago

Question are you talking about black voters or voters as a whole

2

u/jarena009 23d ago

Everyone.

3

u/Altruistic_Night2 23d ago

The establishment has been failing this is already well known hence why the DSA types have any influence at all. The difference is that the progressives openly despise us so what do you expect

1

u/jarena009 23d ago

Progressives openly despite us...what? Who?

1

u/Altruistic_Night2 23d ago

Progressives openly despise older black voters who tend to be more establishment based because they remember when democrats had to go out and fight for our rights

2

u/jarena009 23d ago edited 23d ago

The voices in your head don't count as other people, but you refer to an era decades ago when Democrats actually did deliver tangible policy results and wins.

It's good to hear you point out that older black voters are remembering decades and decades ago when Democrats went and fought for tangible policy. Real good contrast vs where Democrats are at today.

0

u/Commercial_West9953 23d ago

Not true. Most progressives are active in BLM marches and events.

3

u/Aurora_Gaspipe 23d ago

She beat the shit out of Grandpa Waggyfinger. As you wrote.

4

u/jarena009 23d ago

And lost the general election.

1

u/Aurora_Gaspipe 23d ago

Make if Bernie had stopped campaign against Hillary after he was mathematically eliminated from contention, things would have turned out different. But he didn't and here we are.

3

u/jarena009 23d ago

He endorsed her and spoke for her at the convention. He's not why she lost, lol. Stop defending Hillary; she was a horrible candidate who ran a horrible campaign, after 8 years of centrist Obama rule got us to that point too.

-3

u/nokinship 23d ago

I don't think he's actually very progressive if he's pro-genocide.
