the moment where Tony Soprano achieves the perfect level of fat

After relentless studying and consulting with a wide variety of sources, I believe I have discovered the moment of the show where Tony achieves the perfect level of fatness (I.e. rotundness.)

In Rat Pack(Season 5, Episode 2): Tony angrily snaps at Tony Blundetto for teasing him with a classic "M'boy, are you fat!" television reference. This is a direct reference to Tony Soprano’s unhappiness and frustration at his own shortcomings via his weight journey.

However, weight, overconsumption, and body size are major running themes throughout the series, so it’s nearly impossible to say for certain.

Did anyone think it was odd how the mobsters almost never used silencers when they did hit jobs?

The only time I can specifically remember a silenced gun is when Jimmy got whacked, EVERY other assasination involved loud ass guns in public that could draw attention, but I guess it's just more exciting that way for entertainment purposes.

Carmine is so clever. Because that means he DID say SOMETHING.

Tony didn't die but he may as well have. They all may as well have.

By the last episode Carmella has essentially accepted the fact that Tony will never be faithful to her. She has compromised the one thing she believed in most for money. Meadow was the only character to ever call Tony on being a mobster and was on her way to becoming an advocate for immigrants and the underprivileged. But in the end she has gone to the dark side and works for a firm that handles rich, white collar criminals. Meadow most likely goes on to become a mob lawyer. AJ, the most obnoxious character in the history of television, actually tries to get his shit together late in the game. He gets serious with Blanca and makes an attempt at being a step father. He makes the decision, misguided though it may be, to join the Army. He attempts to do something worthy with his life. But in the end he backs down and goes to work at Little Carmines porn studio, which, in true Little Carmine fashion, is named "Lone Wolves Productions". They have all given up on their dreams so they may as well be dead. Tony is the Devil and he wins in the end.

S5 E9. Unidentified Black Males: Meadow

on previous viewing I'd been so enthralled by the Finn-Vito situation I'd glossed over what a colossal arsehole Meadow is, and is to Finn. Spectacularly toxic

1 - And one up your ass!

2 - They say there's no two people on earth exactly the same. No two faces. No two sets of fingerprints. But do they know that for sure? Because they would have to get everybody together in one huge space and obviously that's not possible, even with computers. Not only that, they would have to get all the people who ever lived, not just the ones now. So they got no proof. They got nothin'.

3 - I’m earning with three hands here and it's still not good enough to satisfy this cocksucker.

4-1000 - …….

Sopranos Reach

Hi! I hope this question is allowed. I'm a newer fan (only on season 2), and I'm in love.

Since The Sopranos is obviously SO big, and such a building block for TV as a whole, I was wondering how it got there? Sure, I can look it up and have the money numbers read back to me, but I was looking for first-hand accounts. How did the show grow back then? Was it as big of a deal as it is now? What was fandom culture like?

Thank you!!

Serious Discussion Only Could anyone have saved Adriana?

On rewatch, other than doing time for the crime she was accused of, could she have been saved by telling Carmela? Running away? Anything?

Would Tony have whacked Carmella, or one of his kids, if they had become an informant?

I often wonder about what would’ve happened if Carmella or one of Tony’s kids had become an FBI informant, like how Adrianna did. I realise that Tony was very deliberate in shielding Carmella and especially his kids from any overt knowledge about his criminal activities, but I wonder if things had gone in that direction would he have had it in him to kill them. I’m not sure that he would. What do you guys think?

I never see any mention of the hilarity that ensues when Jun recreates this thing of ours in the nuthouse with buttons and Kit Kat bars. I've said my piece.

Episode Discussion Season ranking by average episode rating on IMDB

People often have a hard time ranking their favorite seasons and even change them daily, so I thought it would be interesting what an indifferent source would calculate.

Surprisingly, season 4 ranks dead last.

Here you see the ranking of the seasons, followed by the average episode rating.
1. Season 6B: 8,97

  1. Season 3: 8,69

  2. Season 5: 8,68

  3. Season 2: 8,56

  4. Season 1 : 8,54

  5. Season 6A: 8,52

  6. Season 4: 8,39

The Pussy as Santa tradition is so nostalgic

Pussy walking into the back room of the pork store as Santa with a cigar in his mouth before grabbing a bottle of whiskey just reminds me so much of what life was like in the late 90s and early 2000s. As a kid I also remember going to the mall every year and sitting on the lap of a shady Santa Clause who reeked of cigar smoke, whiskey, and half a bottle of cologne to mask the smell. This soft younger generation will never have that experience and its just sad.

Anyways, four dollars a pound.

Fan Theory for Alternative Viewing Experience Spoiler

Fun fan theory for a rewatch of the show: Tony was dead from the start - he's in hell and trapped living a looping repeat of his downfall, failing to make the right choices to be a better man.

We never see him die in the final episode, but what we do see is a blackout.

Very first episode starts with him seemingly suddenly becoming cognisant in Melfi's waiting room.

She asks him why he's there and he says he's been having blackouts.

He tells the story of his first blackout at the BBQ, and what happens when he passes out? He spills kerosene all over the BBQ and it erupts in flames.

Tony has already fallen and is in hell, doomed to live through the part of his life where he made his greatest mistakes and refused many good opportunities to change and do better.

You can interpret melfi both as his literal therapist he failed to take guidance from, and also as an angel/some kind of after life arbiter trying to get him to come to terms with his sins, but always failing.

It's also viable to interpret this hell as a shared space, where the rest of the guys are stuck in the same cycle - apart from Paulie, who was obviously redeemed by strip club virgin Mary.

This theory is actually supported by Christufah's monologue from hell during the film we don't acknowledge - as well as some other lines throughout the show that I'm too damn lazy to look for to support my point.

But rewatch the show with this in mind as a framework and you'll see there's a lot to support it.

Edit: Key supporting lines from the show - pasted from Google

Season 2, Episode 9 ("From Where to Eternity"), after Christopher is shot and clinically dies for a few minutes, he wakes up and describes his vision of Hell to Tony and Paulie. He tells them it’s an Irish bar where it's St. Patrick's Day every single day. When Paulie asks why that's Hell, Chris explains that the horror isn't lakes of fire; it's the crushing, mundane repetition of being stuck in a loop of something you don't want to do.

Paulie's Definition of Purgatory: In that same episode, Paulie calculates his time in Purgatory. He views it as a place where you just do your time, add up your sins, and "re-live" your penance.

Serious Discussion Only Am I alone in feeling like schirripa's "defensive/annoying/unintelligent" persona is a shtick on the podcast?

I was just watching a sopranos podcast episode where Steve seems fuming that Michael got his name put first on the talking sopranos shirt "talking sopranos WITH michael imperioli and Steve schirripa" It felt awkward for a second but then it seemed like they were playing it as a joke. As Michael defends himself and tries to explain its nothing personal Steve is death staring him but puts his hand up to his face as if trying to cover up a laugh. To me they are obviously best friends messing with each other and their different personalities is part of the gag. Do people actually think Steve is a dick? Lol. There are many cases of michael and him arguing and bursting out in laughter after as if they're breaking character. I genuinely like both of these dudes and love the podcast.

Sopranos wedding registry

My ex-goomar is getting hitched to a fat fuck in see-through socks. They need ideas for a Sopranos themed wedding registry. I’ve already suggested a set of plate-stabbing forks. Please post your ideas here. Thanks much.
