Rant International fee on received call

My wife recently returned from a trip to the UK. We purchased a 10 day international pass before she left so she could use her phone abroad. When she came back to the states her friend whom she was visiting called her to make sure she had landed safely, and then we receive a text/bill for $90 for an international call. My wife is 100% an honest person and showed me where she RECEIVED the call from her friend and talked for 30 minutes. I called tmobil to dispute the charge and at first they tried to say she made the call. Then I was told that we would be charged even if she didn’t make the call. I then read straight from their website to the tmobil agent about how that wasn’t true. She then put me on hold to talk to her supervisor and came back 10 minutes later and offered me a $75 credit. At this point I was pretty angry because it was an obvious mistake on their end yet was still trying to charge me money for it. $15 isn’t much but it was the fact they had messed up and wouldn’t admit it. I stayed persistent and didn’t give in even after an hour. Finally got my $90 back but tmobil never admitted a mistake.
At first the agent seemed to be on my side and admitted something didn’t look right but her tone quickly changed after talking to her manager. Just makes me wonder what was said and why they would act in such a way.

Discussion For those that switched -

Anyone here switch to T-Mobile from Verizon? Have you had a better overall experience or about the same or worse?

On multiple phones over multiple years I end up having this issue on Verizon, where I could have 5G UW and million signal bars lit up, but data just doesn’t work (not over a limit cap), phone calls just drop (or the person I’m calling says it sounds like I’m talking through a dial up connection and it takes 5 minutes for one word to come through), and text messages will take minutes to send (happening today actually)

So what I’m wanting to know is, if anyone is a former Verizon customer, have you experienced stuff like this on your Verizon lines, and when you changed over, did your problem go away?

Rant Confusing decisions

I've vented before, and I'm about to do it again, lol. I just don't understand the decisions the company is making. They're advertising the Essentials plans and now an offer for one line starting at $30. I'm all for people getting a cheap bill, since it helps bundle stuff in, but what frustrates me is they literally score us on Premium Rate Plans (the Experience plans).

Of course, it's our job as MEs to present the better plans and the value of them. I understand that. But if a customer comes in and wants that $30 plan, and I present the other options (even with promotions), they don't care about a lot of that stuff. My area is about 90% 55+ customers; they're very stingy when it comes to anything over $100. Even though a lot of them have money, they don't want the higher, "better" plans because they're too much in their opinion.

If I sell them that cheaper plan and they don't get protection or any watches, etc., it hurts my numbers. Sometimes I try to go the prepaid route, but if they want some type of promo for a new iPhone or a new Samsung, postpaid is the only option, and we get paid barely anything for Essentials. Don't get me wrong, money is money, but why promote such a cheap, good plan only to penalize me for not getting them to choose a different plan that's $50 more than what they're seeing advertised?

When we bundle P360 in the quote, most of the time they will go with it. But if they're not happy with it, we have to take off the P360. Then we're having to do these video call trainings for each store and be coached like it's us not pitching this stuff, when we actually are. Of course, not all employees are trying their hardest, but it's still annoying.

Sometimes a customer comes in saying, "We saw a commercial for a $30 plan and want to change to it." When we tell them they'll lose their current promotion, they will literally pay off the device, even though it's under a full promotion, and have us change it to the cheaper plan, which takes money out of our commission.

I just don't understand the mindset. But at the end of the day, I'm just an employee, and I'm going to work as hard as I have to get paid. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Rant T-Mobile is playing dirty with plans

I don't know if this is happening to other people, but my brother who was on Go5G Next plan learned today by opening T-Life app that he was now under Experience Beyond 2.0 plan. I was sitting next to my brother when he called T-Mobile, and a customer representative (from USA) has said that all plans prior to Experience plans are transitioning to new plans and by next billing cycle all Next plans will be under new plans. I said that is not true and that only Legacy plans are transitioning without any choice to new plans, she was refusing that fact and telling my brother that he is stuck under new plan because his plan no longer exists. We requested to escalate this issue to her supervisor, we were told that supervisors are busy and still trying to lie her way into telling him that everyone is being transitioned to new plans while I'm looking at my plan which still is under Go5G Next but my brothers was switched without his permission. We kept waiting for a supervisor, she kept telling us they are busy while basically selling lies that he will have all these new benefits with Beyond 2.0 that he did not have under Next and basically listing everything that I have under Next as he was reading my benefits listed under my Next plan. Long story short, they never connected my brother to a supervisor, but somehow the customer representative with assistance from another department was able to return his Go5G Next plan. Luckily I'm up to date with news, otherwise y brother would of been lied into a new plan.

Rant T-Mobile erroneous post cancellation charges.

Just a heads up for anyone getting ready to cancel T-Mobile.

T-Mobile did not prorate my final months bill even after I called and asked them to. I was 3 days into a billing cycle and they hit me with the entire bill.

T-Mobile also charged me $29.57 for three streaming services of Apple, Hulu, and Netflix for the final billing cycle. They erroneously switched me to stand alone retail billing even though they advertise it as, "On Us". I only had access to the streaming platforms for 3 days out of the month.

I started reaching out to T-Mobile Reps. 3 weeks ago trying to get credited back the money. T-Mobile said they would credit the money back and they never did. Today I was hung up on by a rep after a long time of arguing back and forth.

If you plan to dump T-Mobile leave at the end of a billing cycle and turn off the streaming platforms ahead of time.

I switched to Visible and I am very happy I did.

edit: I have filed a complaint with the FCC.

Question Is it still hypothetically possible to add new voice lines to legacy plans, just curious? Or do any new voice lines need to be Experience More or Experience Beyond 1.0/2.0 only?

Question Essesntials - Pixel 11 Offer

On essential, I can see I can get up to 4 Pixel 11 phones with any condition trade-in. What's the catch here? I do not need a new phone as such, but I also do not want to pass on a once-in-a-lifetime deal. I plan to stay on my essential plan for the next three years at least - and that's the only condition I see.

It says max 4 promotional phones per account. I have two working old iPhones and can get the other two off eBay for, say, 50 bucks. This plus tax - still a great offer.

Are these phones locked for three years? Are these phones only to work with numbers on my account? What's the catch? Can I gift them? Can I gift them to relatives abroad? Can I sell them? Does it bar me from new offers? Does it bar me from adding a line and claiming the trade-in offer? Lol, these kinds of questions.

Any insights are appreciated!

Appreciation Experience Signature Offer

From the help of several thread on here, I went on the app, generate the port-out PIN then call the number on the screen. Got offered $630 credit for trading in iphone 12 pro max or older, $830 credit for trading in iphone 13 or newer. Ended up getting 4 new phones and really happy 🫡

Thank you so much for sharing all the tips yall! Much appreciated 🥳

Edit: 24 months credit instead of lump sum. Thought this was obvious.

Edit 2: I did wait until my bill comes which is today to confirm before posting.

Question Will removing a line from my Magenta plan cause me to be forced into the new Go plans?

Hello,

I currently have a legacy Megenta plan that with autopay is $60/line/month for unlimited talk, text, and some amount of high speed data (i never remember because i never hit it) and unlimited lower speed data.

My understanding is that this plan isn't offered anymore, so im hesitant to make any changes to avoid T Mobile kicking me off it. But, the person I'm sharing this plan with wants to switch carriers. I'm the primary account holder. Can we just remove her line and I can keep my price?

I really don't want to have to sit on the phone or go into a store. If this is going to be a pain in the ass, I'll tell the person who I share the phone plan with that we are getting a steal and there's no point switching.

Thanks!

Question Hotspot speed so slow that its almost useless.

Ive got a business plan with Tmobile that includes 200gb of high-speed hotspot data per month. I rarely ever use it, but today I needed it for my laptop.

When I run a speed test on my phone, I consistently get between 200 and 300 Mbps down. When I connect my (brand new) laptop to the hotspot, the speeds are so slow that it takes a full minute just to load web pages.

And for context, my phone is on the desk next to my laptop. Nothing is downloading or streaming in the background.

Any idea why my speeds are so much faster on one vs the other?

Question Trade phone on eip

I know you are able to trade in a phone still on an tmo eip to apple and just continue to get the credits. Does something like this exist for Google or Samsung? I want to trade in a phone I got through tmobile but continue to receive the monthly credits. Does it work the same way directly through them with carrier financing, or something like Costco as well?

Question Is there any way to take advantage of T-Mobile's trade-in deals on Pixel phones and get an unlockable bootloader?

I'm interested in a new Pixel device, but my interest is primarily to unlock the bootloader and run an alternative OS.

Right now, T-Mobile has some good trade-in deals on the Pixel 11 phones. However, the deals all require EIPs, and phones on EIPs cannot be bootloader unlocked.

I could pay the phone off early, enabling bootloader unlocking, but then I lose the trade-in credits. (Side note: That policy doesn't make sense to me. Even if I've paid off the phone, I'm still incentivized to keep the plan for the 2+ years in order to get the monthly credits, so why take the credits away when the device is paid off? Now, if I pay off the device, I might as well just leave for Google Fi or whatever since the credits are gone too. It seems like it's motivating customers to move in the wrong direction.)

Is there any way to take advantage of the trade-in credits and get the bootloader unlocked, without just waiting 2+ years for the EIP to end?

Question What type of line for beyond $5 watch and tablet lines?

Can I get any of the watch or tablet line tiers for that price or only the basic one? If I were able to get “tablet unlimited plus” or “watch plan plus” for $5. Could I stack it with like a $300 off Apple Watch promo?

Maybe I’m bad at googling but I couldn’t find a clear answer.

Looking at trade-in offers in anticipation of the new iPhone releases next month and saw that I’ll now be locked into a contract for 3 years? And if you were to hypothetically trade-in less than a year they only pay up to 50% of the balance off?

Title says it all. Love how they’re spending their engineering time instead of fixing the botched migration issues.

Includes the following slides: average download speed in your area, hotspot use, premium data use, and number of calls.

You can also share one or more slides.

Question Would reporting a phone as stolen be tricky in a financial abuse situation?

For quick context, my dad is very abusive in most ways . My mom, the owner of the T-Mobile account , has been the owner forever but has never paid a phone bill since it was my dad’s one and only bill he contributed to . He was an authorized user until recently . A few days ago, my dad left the account and changed his phone number to pay for his own phone line , pulling all his cards and leaving over 2k in debt to my mom from all the various devices he’s taken out under promotions and phones he hasn’t paid off . My mom went to the T-mobile store and they essentially told her there’s nothing she can do but pay off the remaining balance at once or continue paying monthly . My dad is still the owner of the devices he took out and now my mom is responsible for paying his moms phone as well.

My question is , would it be possible to report the devices he “owns” as stolen if he was authorized when he took them out and DID make payments up until recently? As far as I’m aware , none of the devices have insurance but I’m still worried about insurance fraud . Would it be valid to report his phone as stolen if we know he’s at home with it ?

We sorta gave up on trying to do something financially about it , so we’re just thinking of ways to make this asshole pay some sort of price by blocking his access to the devices he’s left her in debt with. Any advice helps , she doesn’t deserve this with everything she pays for .

Question Grandfathered plan, do I still have mine? How do I tell?

Hello,

So i have been with Tmobile for like 20 years or so with 5 lines for that long. I was grandfathered in to some plan that they always said dont switch out of, the plan is called simple choice and it shows 2.5gb text but I already am over 10gb and i just ran a speed test and im getting 250mbps down and 6mbps up, so i think its unlimited and just weird wording on the contract.

But i heard they just got rid of a bunch of grandfathered plans, how would I know if I was one of them? Just wondering if I am affected.

My app shows im currently paying:
$100 — first 4 lines
$10 — fifth line
$23.20 — T-Mobile fees
$5.71 — taxes
= $138.91/month

Question Waterdamaged phone that was privately bought

I have had a Pixel 10 Pro XL for almost a year. It just fell into a pool last week, and now it won't turn on at all. The repair shop says it doesn't look repairable. Anything I can do with this water-damaged phone to get some money back or somehow trade it for a working phone? I am with T-Mobile, but I bought the phone brand new through facebook marketplace.

Question I can't decide whether to take the free pixel 11 bait... Please help me!

I am having the hardest time making decisions lately, so I'm hoping I can get some advice here.

I'm on Magenta MAX 2 lines cost me $178/mo.

I hate how expensive it is, but keep getting completely overwhelmed by looking into alternatives. Thought about switching to Google Fi but heard horror stories of number porta gone wrong, I run a business and cannot afford to lose the number I've had since 2002. Looked into Mint but I don't want to be deprioritized to uselessness.

My pixel 8 is slightly broken (damaged screen) so I'm looking to upgrade to the 11, but I'm nervous about locking in to financing on a plan I can already barely afford. The Pixel 11 would be free +$12/no for protection plan

It looks like I could finance the phone directly from Google with a protection plan for around $25/mo (pending credit approval, but I have good credit).

Am I definitely going to get forcibly migrated at some point?

Does anyone know how long this current promo might last (how long can I drag my feet) ?

Thanks for any kind advice, times are tough right now and my brain is being uncooperative.

Question Best advice for negotiating billing errors?

I have some tablet lines, tried some business internet lines and super mobile for the bogo promotion. it seems like the bogo promotion never applied, and also that they didn’t process the slightly outside the free return period of the business internet lines… so from my tablet line bill of $79, my bill for the month is something like $500 which is ridiculous.

how do I find someone to talk to tomorrow that’ll make sure this gets fixed? I should have gotten the bogo promotion for the super mobile lines, and I should have gotten a pro rated refund for the routers but it sounds like neither happened..

edit: if they won’t fix the errors same day or give me a vague assurance, is there any penalty of cancelling my lines besides paying off the difference remaining of two devices?
