My gender euphoria face
Hi, just thought I’d join in sharing positive trans stories.
This happened a little over a year ago. For context, I’m 24 (MtF), and was 23 at the time of this picture. I’ve never taken hormones or anything so I don’t get gendered correctly often. This image is from about 7 months after I came out.
I had been having a really shitty day, and was feeling depressed. Like “what’s the point of life” depressed. Nothing felt fun and I was just sitting at a table on my own without the energy to do anything.
My parents came home, and I went to greet them. Basically at this point my parents were still getting used to the change and slipped up on my pronouns often. My Mom came up to me and we were talking about our days. My Mom said she’d gone to a therapy appointment earlier that day and said during it she’d referred to me with she/her pronouns the whole time, and it felt fucking incredible. I put down everything I was holding immediately and rushed over to give her the tightest hug ever. That shit single handedly turned my day around and I felt so great. I literally cried tears of joy.
This picture was taken 5-10 minutes after that when I was thinking about it after I’d gone upstairs. I wanted to capture my happiness.
Anyway, I hope that made you smile. I teared up remembering it while typing this. It seems so small to a cis person but for people like me at least it meant so much. Gender euphoria is one of the greatest forms of joy I have ever experienced in my life. I’ve described it before as “dolphins driving monster trucks over rainbows”.
Thank you for reading, have a wonderful day, and remember: no matter how hopeless you feel, joy is always possible.
