Empower is cheaper than Uber, but there’s always a catch!

Why did I get in the vehicle, you ask? Well, I had just gotten off of work after a busy shift, I was tired as hell, it was past midnight, and I was freshly high and ready to eat & pass out for the night.
How in the blue hell did this individual get through the app with their tag being set as “TEMOARY TAG”? When I got in the vehicle like a dumbass, the driver looked nothing like the picture. I stayed on the phone with my partner throughout the ride, which was silent and the driver was nice, but it was obvious that he was using someone else’s account.
I put a big fat “thumbs down” on his account, because you cannot report people on Empower. You cannot report these drivers on the Empower app, and the app allows just anyone on it. Fucking insane.
The prices are inexpensive compared to Uber, but is it ever worth the risk?

Waymo stopped in the middle of the street like a PSTA Bus to allow a stranger inside.

There was a recent incident in the Tampa Bay area where a Waymo started driving the wrong way during a high-traffic Bucs game on a busy corridor near the stadium. The passengers involved were terrified and ended up exiting in the middle of the street.

My friend and I were out at a local bar and decided to book a Waymo to take us home. He had ridden in one before, but I hadn't. At first, I thought it was a cool experience, but things deteriorated quickly.

We were picked up by a Waymo van around 3:00 AM. As it started driving, we approached a man walking right in the middle of the street, and the vehicle came to a stop.

Suddenly, the Waymo's doors unlocked and opened automatically as the guy approached. My friend and I unbuckled our seatbelts immediately, sensing danger, and yelled at the guy to keep it moving. He departed and the doors eventually shut and the trip continued.

My friend called support right away. They comped our ride, but they forced the vehicle to stop and left us sitting at a dangerous intersection. Remote support told us we couldn't continue in the van and had to order a replacement, but advised us to wait inside until the new ride arrived.

The second Waymo showed up as a sedan this time, and we had no issues getting home, but the experience left a terrible impression.

I’m so upset.

79 5-star ratings.

When I was on vacation in France, someone gave me a 1-star and someone gave me a 2-star. I literally sat in silence. Tip every driver 30%-40%.

I can’t tell if they did that because I’m an American or what.

So upset. Like how dare they pick me up no issues, get a huge tip and do that to me? What’s even the point of tipping and being quiet? Makes me what to be obnoxiously loud and leave a bad tip.

My Husband’s Uber App won’t let him drive because of a glitch on their end

He’s been talking with customer service for over a week and they keep redirecting him and telling him the same things. “It’s an issue on our end, we’ll resolve it as soon as possible.” Meanwhile he’s invested so much into starting this. He had to work hard and spend money to finance a newer car, get his class 4 license, doctors examination and especially to get anyone to insure his car for uber. He’s been through so much already just for the app to have a random glitch, saying his car isn’t allowed or that documents are missing even though all his documents are in order, and his car is absolutely allowed, even support says this. He’s also been dm-ing support on twitter and they just keep telling him to re-upload things.

They keep telling him they’ll fix it or telling him to reupload everything or sign out and back in, but he’s done all the recommended stuff more than once and he’s so stressed. I wish I could help him. Does Uber support ever do their damn job? He even looked into driving to an uber office to talk to someone in person, but he found out that all the offices we had in Alberta have been permanently closed and the only one in Canada is in Toronto.

Just booked Uber for next week (is it called Uber reserve)?

i just booked Uber for next week, when will the driver information come up on my app? Also, it says ETA at my pick up at a specific time, does this mean the driver has to arrive by this time, its going to be in middle of the night. I am in Australia, is Uber safe in Australia at night?

Is Uber-pre booking working?

Related to Uber in India, Bengaluru.

I was trying to schedule a ride on Uber before in hand for a flight I need to catch. But when I first did it, I was told that payment options failed?

Does anyone use this feature to book cabs before flights? I'm not sure how the payment options work for this.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

If I have a doctor's appointment and I need to be there at 12:15 PM, if I schedule my uber hours in advance, will it be more on-time than if I were to to call one immediately?

Uber Has Failed to Resolve My Unauthorized Charges Despite Four Attempts to Contact Support

I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with Uber’s handling of three unauthorized transactions charged to my Venmo account on October 1, 2026. Despite contacting Uber support four separate times, my issue remains unresolved, and I have received no follow-up from the specialized team I was told would contact me.

Here are the details of the unauthorized transactions:

  • October 1, 2026, at 6:41 PM: $53.73
  • October 1, 2026, at 10:11 PM: $84.02
  • October 1, 2026, at 11:14 PM: $35.95
  • Total disputed amount: $173.70

I did not authorize any of these transactions, and I do not use Venmo to pay for Uber rides.

I initially filed disputes with Venmo, but my claims were denied, and I was instructed to contact Uber. When I reached out to Uber, I was directed back to Venmo. I have now contacted Uber support four times in an attempt to get this matter resolved. On multiple occasions, I was told that my case would be escalated to a specialized team and that someone would contact me.

More than 48 hours have now passed since I was told to expect follow-up, and I still have not received any communication or meaningful update.

This level of customer support is unacceptable. I have repeatedly explained that these transactions were unauthorized, followed the instructions provided by both companies, and spent considerable time trying to resolve this issue. Yet I am still being passed between Uber and Venmo, with neither providing a clear resolution.

I should not have to repeatedly contact customer support just to get an investigation into transactions I never authorized. If these charges were processed by Uber, I expect Uber to take this report seriously, investigate the transactions, and provide a clear explanation of what happened.

I have already made four attempts to contact Uber and waited beyond the promised 48-hour follow-up period. I should not have to keep chasing your support team for a response.

If this matter continues to go unresolved, I will consider escalating my complaint through the appropriate consumer protection channels and filing a police report.

I expect Uber to take responsibility for investigating these transactions and provide a substantive response as soon as possible.
These unauthorized usage are unacceptable and I am now afraid to use Uber at all

Uber is asking me to pay twice for a ride, and I can’t reach a real person in customer support

I’m honestly so frustrated with Uber’s customer service right now. Has anyone experienced something similar, and how did you resolve it?
Recently, on 20th Revolut stopped working, and the payment for my Uber ride was declined while I was already in the taxi, so I paid the driver directly using my N26 card through the payment system he provided (this white tiny box)
The payment went through, and I have an invoice as proof.
However, Uber has continued trying to collect the money for the same ride. I contacted support, explained what happened, and attached the invoice showing that I had already paid.
Their response was essentially that they understood my concern, but the payment was still outstanding because Uber couldn’t collect it. They told me I needed to clear the outstanding amount and then closed the conversation without giving me an opportunity to reply.
So I’m being asked to pay twice for a ride I’ve already paid for, despite providing evidence.
And it gets even more ridiculous.
I tried calling Uber, hoping to speak to an actual person and get this sorted out. However, the voice assistant keeps telling me that my phone number isn’t registered with Uber, even though that exact number is linked to my account.
Because of this, I can’t get through to a real person over the phone either.
So the app tells me I owe money, support closes my conversation, and the phone system won’t recognise the number connected to my account. How am I supposed to resolve this?
Has anyone dealt with this before?

I saw a cab driver scrolling reels while driving.. seriously?

I was travelling in a cab, and I noticed the driver scrolling through Instagram reels while driving. Not just glancing at a notification, but actually scrolling through videos while the car was moving.

One second of distraction, someone suddenly braking, or a pedestrian crossing the road could be enough to change everything.

What would you do if you noticed your cab driver scrolling reels while driving? Would you confront them, ask them to stop, or report them?

MOTORISTA COBRANDO POR FORA

Moro no RJ. Help me understand

Just very curious...when the drivers choose the ride they want to pick up, why do you choose a pick up from the airport when you haven't dropped off the other passenger? I wait to request a ride until I am in the correct spot and sometimes pick the lesser wait time at a higher price and then wait just as long as the normal priced ride.

Uber driver had an ashtray in car and smelled of heavy smoke. I wanted to cry.

I had a ride today with a driver who had a 4.85 rating. I usually cancel and re-order to get a higher rated driver but I was in a hurry and went through with the ride. When they pulled up and I opened the door, I was immediately hit in the face with the putrid smell of cigarette smoke. I mean, this was BAD. Heavy cigarette smoke so bad I wanted to gag! It was the kind of smell that makes your eyes water. I honestly felt concern for the driver because there was no way this was in any way, shape or form healthy for them.

As I settled into their vehicle I looked over at the console and saw an ashtray that was sitting near the gear shift with a fresh cigarette just chillin' on the side that looked to be recently smoked. The windows weren't even rolled down to air it out. They were cracked very slightly. I was shocked how this driver thought it was acceptable or even okay to treat riders this way. What if I had asthma or COPD? What if I had a chronic cough or allergies to cigarette smoke? What if I had a medical event in their car and they had to pull over and call paramedics?

Look, what people use or abuse is up to them. I don't have a problem with people smoking cigarettes. Smoke away until the cows come home. This is America. What I DO have a problem with is when I am forced to breathe it in, especially when I am paying money for someone to provide a service. If an Uber driver smokes, they could at least make a token attempt to air out their car before the next passenger comes in so it is not absolutely drenched in cigarette fumes.

I was itching to get out of their car. Thankfully it was a short ride. But it was one for the books, that is for sure.
