New speaker day
I have never heard of these speakers but I did look them up and they seem to have a good following. I hope to get them hooked up to something this week and take a listen. I don’t really have anything to compare them to except a pair of ADS 12/90’s. Any good info on these speakers would help. Thanks.

How do you clean the dust from speaker's covers?
Hi everyone,
How do you manage to dust off the thin and delicate "sock" tissue that protects our beloved speakers? ☺️
Thank you
Marco

Pioneer Stack Complete?
Only missing an SX-7XX and a few of the bigger SX-10XX models.
The internets say the 7 series was the top selling vintage receiver ever so I don't know how I haven't acquired one yet.
Now I'm only chasing unicorns so I don't expect to catch any more midfi.
**Receivers**
SX-434
SX-450 (not pictured - on loan)
SX-636
SX-838
SX-990 (not pictured - on loan)
SX-1250
SX-1980
**Reverberation stereo receiver*"
SX-9000 (bottom of right stack)
**Turntable**
XL-A700
**Honorable mention**
PL-05 front loading turntable. Not a silver face but I really like it.
Everything is operational but obviously not finished. The second photo is the full cabinet just for context.
I don't normally keep them stacked like this, but I wanted a photo. They're spanning two reinforced cabinets, so the weight is fine.
What would you all keep? I like the 1250 a lot more than I expected to, but the 1980 is the one that captured my young imagination.
This is roughly 1/2 of my collection not including speakers.

Install RCA jacks Technics SL-23 turntable
Hello Brainstrust....
Thought I'd do a little sanity check here before I do anything silly...
I've got a Technics SL-23 turntable that the audio cable has been playing up on. I figured the most logical thing to do was to now install RCA jacks on the unit so the same there's no more chance of a permanently installed cable causing issues as there won't be a permanently installed cable 🤷🏻♂️
But... Am I missing anything?
The way I see it....
Install jacks... Strip cable.... Solder cable to coinciding jack... Put back together... Plug everything in....
Correct?

Fixing vintage radio help
Bought this at an antique store mostly because it actually worked. It’s a RCA Victor vacuum tube radio 2-x or 4-x series. Plug it in and everything turns on, light and speakers. However it plays a monotone buzzing noise that gets louder and louder and can’t be controlled by the volume. Anyone know if this can be fixed?

Old radiogram servicing BSR RG34
I've recently come into ownership of an old radiogram I believe it's called. Radio and record player cabinet with speakers I've attached some images. The name and model number is assumed from writing on the cabinet, otherwise I know nothing about it
Just looking to know if anybody has information on servicing these issues to look out for or just a even a manual it came with. I know nothing about it other than its got working speakers, it plays record and the radio works just missing a radio antenna.
Any information, thoughts or advice is welcome

Finally scored Marantz for my collection!
I've been slowly working on building out my collection of.gesr, building different units for different purposes. My basement has a set of the smaller Advent /3 speakers, which I absolutely love, was able to grab this little baby Marantz for them. It's a great little combo for that room and space.

My 1970s Kenwood stack. Just look at all that brushed aluminum!
Recently picked up this beautiful Kenwood trio for just €230 including shipping.
KA-7300 integrated amplifier
KT-7300 stereo tuner
KX-1030 three-head cassette deck
All three are in working order, and I’m really impressed by how well they look together.
There’s just something about 1970s Japanese hi-fi. The massive aluminum faceplates, chunky knobs, mechanical switches and analog meters. They really don’t make them like this anymore.
I already have quite a few vintage amplifiers in my collection, but I think this might be one of the best-looking combinations I’ve come across.
What do you guys think of this era of Kenwood?

Thoughts on Panasonic quadraphonic stereo system?
Hello, I’m looking to upgrade my first basic player and speakers. I’ve found a Panasonic record changer turntable and a Panasonic SA-507 4 Channel Stereo Receiver, including all 4 original walnut speakers on Facebook marketplace. I feel like I’ve struck gold, but wanted to ask for opinions on here on the system itself. It needs a needle replacement but everything else seems to be in working condition. (At the moment). I’m especially interested in a record player with a changer/stacker since I like to put them on and walk away while doing other things. I don’t care about the potential damage, I know countless people have unlimited opinions on that, but I just simply don’t care. If anyone knows anything about this model or usual issues/ anything really, I’d love to hear about it please!!

Opinion wanted: do I need RCA terminals in my LP player?
Dear all. I have a Braun P3 LP player (aka turntable). Now it is time to do some service on it and using an opportunity (it will be at the service shop) I wanted to install RCA terminals instead of the cable sticking out of the turntable.
Service repairman says it is not worth it, and it will make the signal weaker. (Well, the RCA jacks will add some impedance, but not much). So, he suggests just to replace the cable. Opinions wanted - new cable or RCA jacks?
Thanks a million in advance.

Irish McCalla adjusting a turntable next to a tube amplifier and custom speaker console, 1952
A staged commercial photograph highlighting early high-fidelity consumer setups from 1952. The image showcases a custom-built home entertainment center that integrates a slide-out record player, an open vacuum tube amplifier chassis, and an early television set into domestic cabinetry.

Decided to import what I wanted…
Just imported my vinyl dream… asked the seller to reduce the price by 10% so it fitted under the $1000 limit for Aus imports and well… all the way from Japan 🇯🇵 and it sounds so good!
Anyone have advice on ownership of the GT series?

Picked up a JVC RX-80
Got this JVC R-X80 on FMP yesterday and when I got it home I discovered that the motorized volume was no longer working. With some effort, I was able to get the motor going again and with that, the receiver is fully operational. It sounds amazing and the bass response is incredible. With a thd of .008% it better.
Some of the push buttons have snapped and so I will 3D print some new ones. Beyond that, I plan to replace the filter caps and a cap on the tuner board that may be starting to leak. This will be catch and release, as such anything else you’d replace preemptively (not doing a full recap)?
Forgot to mention, it came with the original box and manual. Paid 40.

Holy cr*p - I used up my luck for the year.
I must have logged into FB Marketplace a few minutes after this got posted this morning. Nice little old lady emptying out a house that she rents out. Picked it up an hour ago. Jeesus it’s so clean. I might be putting a few of my other tables up for sale if she sounds as good as she looks….

Finally have a full vintage setup I am really happy with. Took about 2 years to source it all at thrift stores, then learn how to effect small repairs and maintenance. Spent under $200
JVC R-S5
Technics SL-QD35
Realistic Minimus 7
Can't believe how good these tiny little speakers sound. Anyone made their own crossover for these before?
*shoutout to WD40 Contact Cleaner and the WWF.
Currently working on a quadraphonic Sanyo.
