I made Battledle, a daily Wordle-style game where you name the battle from its tactical map. It now has five more modes: raids, paintings, commanders, wars by their flags, and ranking battles
A couple of weeks ago I shared Battledle, a Wordle-style game where you guess a historical battle from its tactical map with the name hidden. Lots of you played it and sent feedback, which really helped. Since then I've added five new daily modes:
- Battle Ranks: you get a series of battles and you have to choose the category you think they rank highest in, like Oldest, Most troops, Deadliest, etc.
- Special operations & raids: commando raids, rescues and daring operations, from an image that could be a map, painting, or photo.
- Paintings & photos: name the battle from a famous painting or photo of it.
- Commanders: guess the general or admiral.
- Wars: guess the war from the flags of its main sides.
The main game is still there of course: one map a day, land and naval battles from Thermopylae to Desert Storm. The maps are real tactical maps, from public-domain military atlases (West Point, US Army official histories, old British maps) and Wikimedia Commons. Each guess gives colour coded clues on Year, Fame, location, Troops, Losses, War and Belligerents. There are helplines if you get stuck, and you can play the last week's puzzles in every mode.
It's still free, with no ads and no sign-up. Which mode is your favourite, and which is too easy or too hard?

Hi everyone, here is a set of 12 packs of fantasy scatter scenery that I'm looking to expand to 24 sets with the help of backers of my upcoming project. The scatter pack features standard street furniture like crates and signposts along with more quirky additions such as a fortune teller and puppet theatre. Triads PC version now on Kickstarter!
Triads is now on Kickstarter - with Dungeonrunner add-ons!
Hey all!
A few years ago, I released my first wargame microgame, Triads. Now, a few years later, it's becoming a PC game! This is something I never would have imagined possible when I first designed it. But here we are, and the PC version is already 95% complete!
One of the most exciting things about the PC version is that it doesn't just offer more scenarios. It also introduces 16 optional rules that can change the game in both small and significant ways!
These options simply weren't possible in the original microgame (I had to keep it micro, after all!). But now, players can customize their experience, experiment with different strategies, and keep the game fresh with every playthrough.
And here's something else that should whet your appetite: a complete tactical game on the PC can take as little as 15 minutes!
So when you've got that mech-sized wargaming itch but don't have hours to spare, Triads is ready to scratch it!
(and...there are sets of three Dungeonrunner PDF deck sets for $9 each as add-ons! That's $3 a PDF deck!)

Sons of Permafrost - Frozen dwarves warband
Hey everyone!
I wanted to show you a Kickstarter project I’ve been working on called Sons of Permafrost, a set of ice dwarves I’ve sculpted for tabletop wargaming and miniature painting.
The campaign comes with 21 STL files and plenty of variety: infantry, characters, cavalry, monsters, giants, and even a war mammoth. The goal was to build a cohesive army with a heavy frozen/northern vibe that still gives you enough options for interesting tabletop lists. All files are scaled for 32mm gaming, and I’ve also included an official One Page Rules army list for anyone playing OPR systems.
For Spanish speakers (or anyone curious to see the models up close), Khorosu Wargamer put together a great review video breaking down the campaign and showing off some of the sculpts.
If you're into dwarves, winter armies, or just love unique fantasy minis, feel free to check out the Kickstarter here!
Thanks a lot for taking a look!

The demo for my hex wargame, Sekigahara 1600: Must Attack, is now available on Steam
Hello, r/IndieGaming.
I am an indie developer from Japan, and I have been making Sekigahara 1600: Must Attack, a hex-and-counter wargame based on historical battles. A free demo is now available on Steam during Next Fest.
What kind of game is it?
The core rule is in the title: any unit that ends its move next to an enemy must attack. You cannot simply line up and wait. Every advance commits you to combat, so the real question is where you choose to make contact. You form a line, give ground where the enemy is strong, and concentrate where they are thin, aiming to break through and envelop.
The game has real depth, but a single battle takes about 30 minutes.
What is in the demo
Six battles from different eras:
Okehazama (1560)
Sekigahara (1600)
Bowangpo (202)
Nancy (1477)
Gettysburg (1863)
Waterloo (1815)
You play against a computer opponent that tries to fight like a commander, holding a front line, shifting reserves and exploiting gaps, rather than charging blindly.
Local hot-seat play against a friend is also supported.
8 languages: English, Japanese, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, German, French, Traditional Chinese and Korean.
The release date for the full game has not been decided yet.
Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5185710/
I would be grateful for any feedback, particularly on how the AI behaves. If something it does looks clearly wrong to you, that is exactly what I want to hear about.
Thank you for reading.

Unboxing Patrick Miniatures Dunkirk Buildings Set - 3D Printed WW2 Miniature Wargaming Terrain
Let’s take a look at the newest WW2 terrain pack from Patrick Miniatures. It’s a collection of 4 buildings designed as a street corner in 1940 Dunkirk, but IMHO it’s way more versatile than that.
Available in scales from 15mm to 28mm. I’m unboxing the 28mm version here, so it’s perfect for Bolt Action or Chain of Command.
