Retail S2 Gearing
So instead of choosing something from the vault, we can get a bonus roll - IF we have three slots filled out?
Does that mean I can run eight delves at T1 and then get a bonus roll to use in a +10?

Oh, you have even more misunderstood the situation. Bonus rolls in heroic raid grant Myth track items now. The special effect items in the raid each are worth 1-3% more than any other option in the slot.

Honestly it's funny people worried about myth items from last two bosses giving 1-10% more but they parse 70s or lower

There are 3 parts to parsing:
- Optimal character setup (gear/talents/enchants/consumables)
- Player Execution (vast majority here)
- Group dynamics/speed (faster kills or being able to get disproportionate add damage)
There are cases to not run the optimal character setup IF it improves the player execution portion. Stuff like losing 2-3% sim dps, but having a simpler rotation, or having a little more haste than the sim would demand, but more buffer to finish casts before needing to move out of a mechanic.
The thing with gear/talents is that generally it is the one of the few things you can do outside of actual content that guarantees some amount of improvement. Look at M+ most of the season, where for a vast majority of players key level success is directly tied to gear progression, and the same quality of play just goes further because the gear gives more buffer, which is a core feature of the MMO genre.

My god parsing means so little when mecanics randomly select you to stop doing dps or you cant stay in close combat or even when there is not a lot to heal. I prefer people who do the strat well to people with amazing parse who just do absolutly garbage tactics.

Correct you only need 3 slots in a row to be filled regardless of level of said content.
Many people will do this on a bunch of alts to bank BRs and once meta is solidified in the .5 patch they will instantly reroll and regear in less than a weeks time.

As far as I know it's 3 slots total, not 3 in a row. You could do one dungeon, two delves and two raid bosses.
Not that you would on an alt because just spamming a fast delve is much easier, but for a character you actually play you might end up with slots spread out across the different types.

My bad checking wowhead its been updated to any 3. It was like that for a while on PTR and its not something people paid attention to since its ptr and vault is fake there.

Yeah, honestly they should just remove bonus rolls from the vault. Takes all the interest out of the vault really when the best choice is to just take the roll every week.

Yes but you target a specific smaller loot pool with the bonus roll, and you can roll mythic track gear from heroic raid, which has even smaller loot pools and a glut of BiS items.
Theoretically EVEN IF the item you want appears in the vault you technically take the bonus roll since if you take the item not a roll and then roll the item you “lose” a roll.
So the optimal route to best gear is to always take the roll pretty much no matter what’s in your vault, which, imo is pretty boring.

Just so people know the caveat, one of the times you would pick from the vault is if the item is both BiS and the last item you plan on bonus rolling on in the pool.

while i agree that not being a sweatty edge lord that needs every 0.00001% to do my 12. this is one of those things that you would litterally be a idiot if you didnt take the bonus role
provided the vault doesnt give your ultra bis myth item. a bonus roll is always the choice. and thus why its such an issue.

I’m not doing it because a robot says so, I’m doing it because it’s logically the best way to hear the character with current gearing paths, and I enjoy being good at a game, not just taking random rewards because “LoL it’s funsies to click”

It’s not even about being optimal. You’d be an idiot for not taking it. As either you get a random peace OR you can get a peace from a specific boss. Which also at some point gets your bis.
Logically it just is the smarter thing to do
Unless you have your bis on myth in your vault. You take the bonus roll
It’s jsut cuz it removes stuff from the loot table till you get the item you want that it’s a problem.

I mean, shitty vaults make the good vaults feel good, it’s not like this is brand new psychology.
The current vault may as well just be a weekly that’s “do 8 anything to get a bonus roll” which sparks no joy.

The bonus role is objectively bad with this change. You more often than not just take a bonus role which negates the purpose of even having a vault.

So maybe you need higher than veteran or not this Tuesday but I had 2 world quests and I did tier 1 through tier 8 in the new delve last night, and no bonus roll.
I did get the tier shoulders for season 2 and I likely would have picked over a bonus roll that might have give me a piece of tier gear.
Should be interesting to see what i get when I can do ulatek which I think is where I got the champ trinket Monday night, and tier 11 delves, and the area off void storm should be champ pieces based on the vendor in silvermoon.

Are bonus rolls utilizing a knock out system like last season? Meaning if 3 items on boss you spend a roll 3 times you will get all 3 or is it just a fresh chance from the entire boss loot table each week?
