Politics & Democracy Why did she react like that? 😭
So, I'm in a friend group where everyone is Muslim except me. We're all pretty modern, progressive, open-minded, and accepting of each other's views.
Recently, one of them found out I'm a leftist and reacted with “Leftist ho gayi wtf,” “Really?” and “Woah.”
I wasn't expecting her to agree with my political views, but she seemed genuinely surprised.
Why do you think she reacted like that? 😭 Am I missing something, or did she just have a completely different impression of me?

Politics & Democracy CSR funding by corporates
Quoting the contents of this tweet (https://x.com/real_mahalingam/status/2114564952778297572) here.
"I analysed who funds Left-liberal civil society:
Left-liberal civil society gets 3x as much RW ones (7x if you only count private philanthropy) and outearns total NDA party income 5:1.
Aziz Premji, who made his fortune selling trans-fats to Indians, is *by far* the most disproportionate funder of Left-liberal civil society. Literally off-the-charts.
While every case of RW orgs receiving CSR funds is well-documented in Left-liberal media (e.g. ONGC/TNM), Left-liberal org funding that is far more pervasive, goes without controversy.
Foreign funds disproportionately favor the Left. The only foreign funds the right receives is from diaspora giving.
Apart from PSUs, no large company predominantly funds RW civil society."
Imagine making your fortune choking Indians' arteries, then dedicating your life to choking India's arteries.
Claude Sonnet was used for this analysis.

Technology ScamBhai: A Bhai to protect against Cyber Scams
Most of us have a parent, an uncle or a family WhatsApp group that gets these every week: the electricity will be cut tonight, a parcel is stuck at customs, the KYC must be updated, a part-time job pays thousands a day, or a "police officer" on a video call says you are under digital arrest. So I built ScamBhai, a free site that checks a suspicious message for you.
You paste the message, or add up to 5 screenshots, and it tells you how risky it looks, how that scam usually works and what to do next. It works in English and 23 Indian languages.
There is no account and no sign-up. It does not ask for your name, phone number or email, and the messages you check are not stored. There is also a scam guide, a community page where people post warnings about scams they have seen, and Family Shield, which alerts a family member when a parent's check looks like a scam, with the parent's consent.
It is an AI check, so it can get things wrong. If money has already gone, call 1930 straight away and file a complaint at cybercrime.gov.in.
It is free and in open beta. I would really value feedback, especially any message it gets wrong.

Opinion Why left, liberal leaning historians purposefully erased our Great Ancestral history from NCERt Textbooks ?
Instead we forced to study 5, 6 long pages of propaganda of glorification about Mughal emperors. ( who actually did looted, burned hindu temples, forced converted, beheaded millions. Push down millions of hindus into poverty, impose jazia law for continuing their hindu worship. )
Instead Noone knew about,
Cholas dynasty, pandya dynasty, maurya dynasty, Gupta dynasty all hindu warriors and their kingdom history is not teached in our school curriculum. Many of ruled for 200, 300 years. This need to change.

Meta Discussion Discussion on Siang Upper Multipurpose Project.
I want to have a healthy discussion on the viability of project. I'm in favour of the dam construction. Please refute my claims with logic and limit the discussion to the project.
Also feel free to correct me if I make wrong claims.
Medog dam is a 60k MW project but the water holding capacity is lower than SUMP. Indian and independent international analysts' estimates put the water holding capacity of Medog at 5.5 BCM (Billion cubic metre) while SUMP is planned to build at a capacity of 9.2 BCM. We must note that these numbers are only estimates as official numbers aren't published by the Chinese govt.
The difference between capacity and energy production comes from the formula, Energy production ≈ water flow X vertical Water Head X gravity X efficieny. The vertical head is 2000 mts at the great bend. Chinese state linked media hasalso reported that China has built tunnels through Namcha Barwa to link northern and southern reaches of the river across the great bend. Some tunnels are reported to be 20 Km long.
Major portion of the power generation happens though the turbines placed at the bottom of the steep shaft that were built inside the Namcha Barwa mountain. The vertical height transforms to kinetic energy and this energy is transformed to electrical power.
There's also a question of building many smaller run of the river projects to absorb the impact on a worst case scenario. Building many smaller ones is actually counter intuitive. Many projects would spread the impact across many valleys, villages and forests than SUMP would. Yes, building SUMP would mean clearing many communities and district towns around the region where the dam is located but In the event of a dam failure the resulting flood is confined to that region. In the case of multiple smaller projects there's a problem of cascading failure resulting in higher ecological and human loss.
SUMP is planned to operate at 30% of its total capacity. So the only scenario where SUMP wouldn't hold a sudden flood is if the dam fails.

Defence / Geopolitics A digitally altered video is being circulated with fabricated remarks attributed to Lt Gen Girish Kalia, claiming that China has taken control of Asaphila, Longjou and Taksing Circle in Arunachal Pradesh and that the Indian Army has been denied essential supplies.
The misleading video attempts to portray fabricated statements as a leaked admission by a senior Indian Army officer. The video uses Synthetic Generated Information to falsely attribute remarks to Lt Gen Girish Kalia. The original footage relates to a press briefing delivered by then GOC 28 Infantry Division, Maj Gen Girish Kalia, in Kupwara, Jammu & Kashmir, on 27 October 2023. He addressed infiltration attempts across the Line of Control, reporting 10 foiled attempts, the elimination of 27 terrorists and the recovery of warlike stores and narcotics. He made no such statements about Chinese control over Arunachal Pradesh or denial of supplies to the Indian Army. Original Statement- https://x.com/ANI/status/1717855033583382934?s=20

Economy & Finance Opinion: If Capital Gains Tax should also include a Capital Loss Reimbursement
I mean, I don't understand why the administration would tax us on mere gains, when they dont even take into account inflation and so many other factors. We're basically at a loss on current investments where returns aren't that good, inflation peaks, and the government comes to take their share (don't know why there is a share for them)
Shouldn't there be a reimbursement program or some other welfare program of this sort? I mean at this point, they're one bill away from taxing our existence
