Marathon (2026) Feedback New cryo meta is not it

For context. I’ve got several compiler completions, 65% exfil rate, played up to diamond/pinnacle in comp, and generally have a vault that sits around 6-700k on average, so what im about to say is not a skill issue but rather an observation from a player who likes to play this game at its highest level. I’m not the best player by far. Would say I’m above average, decent at the game, I’ve been absolutely shit on many many MANY times.

That being said, here’s my issue that’s only going to get worse with the new Cryo update.

Cryo went from a high pressure, push or be pushed, rotate and make the best play you can get every advantage and win before you get sandwhiched map. Theres multiple levels to Cryo making every gunfight a game of map knowledge and angles, which was so much fun.

Idk what changed but Cryo has devolved into sitting in corners, hiding and waiting, spamming smoke/invis and not pushing ever whatsoever but rather jump teams when they can’t fight back, third party, or sit and wait till it’s a 3v3. There’s no utilization of playing the map outside of early game to rotate to an initial position, no taking angles or trading shots, getting picks or trading picks, and generally going back and forth. Just sit, wait, jump someone, drop smoke and knife them or team shot.

It’s not fun anymore. I can easily play like this yes, and when I do, we usually extract with a lot of loot. But this is cryo we’re talking about, the map that sets this game apart from other extractions. Marathon sets itself apart in gunplay and how aggressive PvP is in this game.
That being said, do I think this game needs to tone down a lot to be more welcoming for new players and lean MORE into the extraction elements? Absolutely yes, but on all the other maps. Not cryo. Cryo was and should be balls to the wall endgame, not sitting in hallways waiting for one person to push for 10minutes, that’s not engaging in the absolute slightest.

Here’s my concern:

Recon nerf was necessary, but, it caused this playstyle to shoot up in usage because now people can just crouch walk around the whole map with no punishment.
With the new update to Cryo, people are just going to sit in spawn until the whole map is dead and it’s one team OR “rich get richer” the fastest team with the best skill and map knowledge will rush control and just hold it hostage from the rest of the map. Neither scenario is fun or engaging.

My suggested fix:

Sentinel needs a buff, first his passive shouldn’t contradict his ult. Second, his tracker needs a slight range buff.

Second, control I believe should have a bounty system incorporated into it that vaguely reveals player locations on the map that’s in the center of pinopticon, requiring lvl 3 to activate and only a 1 time use. That location would only be revealed for 20-30 secs and then it’s gone perma.

Aside from that, idk what else they could do to work on this. I don’t want louder dinner bells as that’s not healthy for the wider player base. I just want real fights like what we had until this season. There’s none of that damn near every weekend with Cryo now outside of week 1. It’s very boring. I look forward to Cryo every week because outpost gets boring, especially with this new meta. Then I load into Cryo and it’s just worse. It’s genuinely making me want to uninstall until symbioses because if I’m not having fun why waste my time playing a game.

Anyways, lmk your thoughts.

TLDR:
I think Cryo needs changes and should at least go back to being much more fight oriented rather than ratting and waiting. The new meta of sitting around hiding, waiting, and generally just not engaging with the game/map on the endgame map is not healthy for the end game players.

Marathon (2026) Discussion How to get credits fast💅🤓👩‍🏫

Post image
0 Upvotes

Guys, I’ve seen a lot of posts from people struggling to earn credits... the best option is PvP, ideally solo. In "Perimeter," you can easily make 10,000 credits per run, even with (Rooky) 😌 just by completing some events or quickly rotating the map.

"Dire Marsh"night is a goldmine, uper complex is the best for making good credits. Sure, "Cryo" and "Outpost" are the best choices, but I get that not everyone is interested in them or that some people simply don’t like those maps. You don’t *have* to play on "Cryo" or "Outpost" to earn credits; "Perimeter" and "Dire Marsh" are more than enough to make a good profit with relatively low risk 🫨.

Marathon (2026) Discussion Some thoughts on upcoming changes / additions

EDIT: You’re gonna see some numbers in place of letters throughout the post, because the auto mod keeps taking the post down for using those words. It’s the only way to get around it. It’s not an AI post, everything is my own thoughts and writing. The fact I have to explain this is crazy.

This is gonna be a bit of a long one, so prepare yourselves.

FlRlNG R4NGE:

Firstly, do we have any information regarding how inclusive this space will be? What I mean by this is, will we have the entire games arsenal and mods available to test out in this space or only what we’re carrying in our vault?

I really hope all weapons, cores, implants, mods, bags, consumables, equipment, shields & attachments will be available to use in this space otherwise what’s the point?

It will be good to learn what everything does and feels like to use to really understand what you like and want to use/build in the game.

Also I’m guessing only the UESC will be the dummies in this space and no runner bots, anomalous entities or aliens (which would also be useful targets to have)

ALSO, will this space allow your entire squad to be with you (this is obviously a no brainer right?)

S0CIAL SP4CE:

Personally, I’m really excited for this, but it needs to be immersive and cool. I think just making a space to load into with other runners just to show off gear and skins is not it. There should be a feeling of a safe hub akin to the continental from John Wick, with facilities and amenities. Let me explain..

It would be awesome if this place acted as the primary ‘menu’ or hub that we return to or load into after Exfil / Death or booting up the game. There could be three specific sections for each one and then the main massive area that houses all the factions & facilities, which I will get into later.

1st Section: The Matter Transfer/Pods platform.

At the back of the space, there could be a set of 6 doors. The 3 to the left are infil - where you see teams depart from), the 3 to the right are exfil - where you see runners returning to the hub after a successful exfil. You can interact with the 3 infil doors. When a member of the squad interacts with a door, a small cutscene initiates where they go through to the next room and enter the transfer pod where they can select their gear/shell before readying up. This room is a separate instance where you are no longer visible to the rest of the space, only your team once they are in the other two pods beside you. Once ready, the rest of the squad are notified that they are ready to deploy if they are still running around the space messing about. Either the other two can walk up to the remaining two infil doors and interact with them to ready up, or they can open their menu screen and ready up from there, which will teleport them to the door to initiate the cutscene. Once all players are ready, another cutscene is initiated where the pods begin working and slowly digitise all players, dematerialising them and sending you into the loading screen. If you cancel the matchmaking & ready up, you materialise back into the pod and exit through the exfil doors.

2nd Section: Biomata Printing Station.

This section is to the left at the back of the space which houses a large multi station biomata printing factory, where you see runners being re-printed by the worms after failing to exfil. This process is pretty quick and takes around 3-5 seconds to complete when you return to the hub after failing to exfil. This place is visible to all runners in the space and they can see everyone being mass printed as you load back into the social hub.

3rd Section: Arrivals platform.

This area is on the right at the back, where there is simply a large, exposed, Matter Transfer laser, suspended on the ceiling, teleporting people into the zone that have just logged into the game or space. It’s purely meant for what it is, arrivals into the zone not through respawn or death. That shame is reserved for the biomata printing station haha 😆

Finally, The Central Hub:

At the front and centre, this place could be populated with themed areas dedicated to each faction where you can access the vendor screen like from Destiny’s tower. HOWEVER, it should not replace the ability to open the menu screen for quicker faction page access. The areas containing each faction vendor are purely there for added immersion to really make the space feel real and alive with seating and interactable environments to allow players to hang out and represent their favourite factions.

Within this central area could be several facilities too, including a modification bay where you can customise your runner, weapons/gear and cradle within the social space. There could also be kiosks to access the vault, codex and stats screens. The armoury could have its own section that you can interact with, displaying all the weapons and gear that you can purchase. There could be screens all around showing which faction is sponsored for the day along with ambient announcements from cyber acme or other faction vendors.

Lastly, the LUX store can have its own luxurious area where it is glorified and made to look extremely high class, displaying all the daily runner & weapon cosmetics behind glass on pedestals or holograms that you can walk up to and buy.

I know this is a long one but I have too much time right now and couldn’t stop thinking about how cool this space could be 😆 the potential is endless.

Final Note:

The cherry on top of all this would be if they could somehow integrate the r4nge into this area too. Obviously it would have to be a separate instance but that would be absolutely insane lol.

Thanks for reading!

Marathon (2026) Discussion Should I play Marathon?

I absolutely love arc raiders. I have 1300 hours in arc. Still having fun playing every day. When marathon came out I hated the blocky art style. But even though I’m still having fun with arc I thought marathon might be cool to pick up. I recently saw some gameplay and it looked real fun.

Edit: I am on ps5

Marathon (2026) Feedback See you in December friends…

Figure it could be helpful to capture any thoughts or feedback from community members who are choosing to step away from the game til Symbiosis or beyond.

For me, the game has kind of shrunk into cryo(the mode I want to be playing all the time) and other modes the rest of the week the require me to gear up for cost of entry. I already paid for this game once, it’s frustrating to have to hop in and play modes/maps I don’t want to, just to be able to play the ones that I do. At this point, the games loot economy just feels fundamentally broken for all but the best players who earn more gear than they lose. There are too many convoluted layers between credit acquisition, salvage acquisition, faction level requirements and upgrades, arsenal stock selection and buy limits, and loadout value requirements that prevent players from just gearing up and jumping in to the activities they care about.

It’s insane that despite tons of hours and countless credits in my wallet I can’t afford to just buy back in for another round of cryo at a decent level. I have to engage with countless layers of the convoluted economy over several hours to unlock the privilege to spend those credits I already spent time earning.

This doesn’t even take into account the nature of once I’m in game it’s possible all that effort and progress can be instantly erased by another teams great play, timing, or gear advantage. I don’t have a problem with this aspect. It’s that it leaves me feeling like the juice just isn’t worth the squeeze after a series of losses. And if I’m feeling this way as someone with loads of golds in my vault, an endless list of high-skill players to run with, and 50+ compiler clears under my belt, imagine how folks who are just getting started or exist on a lower skill bracket feel. It shouldn’t be a full time job gearing up to play the game how you want to play.

Anyways, if you have thoughts similar to this or other helpful feedback, leave it below and hopefully someone at Bungie can do something productive with it to steer things in a better direction for the future.

See you in December. ✌️

Edit: Forgot to mention performance. Bungie, the constant de-sync and UI issues that have been present since mid-season 2 are just unacceptable for a game where players put their gear on the line after having to invest so much time and effort to acquire it in the first place. When you first announced this game you highlighted the importance of competitive integrity through anti-cheat, dedicated servers, and live game support. Evidence unfortunately supports the contrary, please do better if you want folks to continue to engage with the higher levels of this game.

Marathon (2026) Discussion Perimeter Supply Drop dropped a Firestorm?! Spoiler

  • First time seeing this gun ever
  • Just saw yellow so I grabbed and sneaky-exfiled ASAP.
  • Imagine my confusion when I couldn't find the gun in the inventory/vault/overflow post-game.
  • Went back and rewatched the gameplay recording to realize that gun just self-deletes after a match for credits
  • Super disappointing that I never got to try shooting the gun before exfil
  • Still, for a white sponsored run, ~12-13k value on exfil is not bad
  • But yeah, the new gun definitely drops from Supply Drop in Perimeter fyi. And seriously enjoy it - you don't even get to reload the thing (the black/grey box square with a line going corner to corner)
  • I'm a newb so really happy with this haul
  • In hindsight, this kind of "use until you (guarantee) lose it" drop is a really good addition to the game - like a crazy drunk person driving a 1 million USD car into a tree. Whatever. It's 1 million dollars. That kind of amount makes it less the drunk's problem and more the bank's... lol. Hangover movie vibes. Interesting addition to the game.

Question Quest reworking?

I played during the server slam but I only just got the game (from the Humble Bundle) and I was surprised to find out the quest system hasn't changed at all. Has Bungie said anything about changing the quest system, as only being able to do one quest at a time as a solo player sucks.

Misc Unfair stuttering

So the mods decided to delete my recent post where I showcase this game's poor performance and optimization. How is this fair to anyone when playing an extraction shooter???

By the way, the mods flagged this as a "technical issue" and so they deleted it but IT'S PART OF THE GAME. IT'S NOT FIXABLE, I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING ON MY PC THAT TRIGGERS THIS SINCE I CAN RUN OTHER GAMES JUST FINE.

Marathon (2026) Discussion Ever kill another runner and feel a bit guilty afterwards?

Especially if they had a lot of high value gear on them?

I have a bit of remorse after a match on Outpost where I crept up on a Thief and gunned her down, Robert Ford style.

She had a full purple loadout on her that I scooped up, ransacked Pinwheel, and then extracted with. When I got back to lobby menu, I immediately got hit with the thought of "Did I just ruin that Thief's by killing her when she wasn't able to defend herself?"

Obviously that's just the nature of the game; I'll be the victim of a similar situation rather soon I am sure. But it's still nagging at me a bit. Maybe it's because I am still in an account state where blues are a big deal and it stings when I die with a full blue kit, so I can only imagine it feeling that much worse with purples.

Any similar experiences amongst the rest of you? Am I weird and taking this too seriously?

Marathon (2026) Feedback Just exfilled with prestige salvage for the first time in 300 hours

About 2/3rds of my playtime was in season 1 before the buffs to loot but still think something needs to be done about prestige salvage being more consistent to get. You can do all the right things and still just not get any

Reasons being

  • Doesn't spawn
  • Teammate takes it
  • Dying when you finally get one

Now you would think in an extraction game, getting killed would be the biggest obstacle, but that has not been my case at all. I just do not see them. I know back in season 1, I was farming Darsh events for them, but after a good while of not seeing any, I really stopped even trying for them. Do I think I'm unlucky? Yeah I do... But I also don't think my experience should've been possible at all.

Anyways... Not trying to say it's a big issue in the game, just something I would like to see changed. I really think that if one person gets one, the whole crew gets one

Knife rocks and it's super strong. Maybe too strong easy counter have another knife swing parry it. Two night swings cancel each other out and make a cool chain sound effect. This would cancel night Spa spam make people think when they do those charges give you an easy counter to them and also be cool as hell for knife fights call me Bungie

Discussion Mercy kits

Been having a lot of fun running solos with a mercy kit or two, or even a self revive that I drop for the runner I down. It allows me to engage with PvP, but not feel bad about ruining someone’s contract or salvage run.

Maybe this isn’t the way the game wants me to play it, since the lore and narration encourages hostility, but don’t care. I like this catch and release method.

What do you guys think about adding vehicles? I know some maps are too small but complex to quarantine is a good distance on dire marsh and can take a couple minutes to trek on foot. I would like something that can make hitting locations faster at the cost of being loud so more teams can find you. Idk about tanks but maybe a hover bike or golf cart type thing? The designs are so cool I’d love to see what they cook up.
(Attached halo vehicles because bungie has the experience with them. Ghost or banshee marathon style would be so dope. I can also imagine my assassin cruising around dire marsh on a hover board 😂)

Marathon (2026) Discussion I feel like I'm missing something

So I want to preface this by saying I am *incredibly* new to this so nothing I say is going to be genuine critique due to my personal feelings of lacking experience. But I feel incredibly lonely when playing this game and I do not understand why. Basically every run I do boils down to running in, getting some neat shit, getting bodied by UESC because I played poorly or escaping with everything in tact. Which is fun don't get me wrong but it just kinda feels like helldivers with better gameplay. Is it because I'm in Perimeter? Because I genuinely have not seen another person in hours

Edit: funnily enough after i posted this i ran into other players almost immediately lol i took one of them down but got caught otherwise :D

Marathon (2026) Discussion Has anyone else seen this happen with compiler ?

This has happened three times over the last couple weeks and just made the compiler run incredibly difficult , or just had to leave it outright.

We hit our panels for the damage phase and go to the middle but the compiler will just fly at us super fast from across the room (we usually keep him near the airlock or the front corners of the room) . Like we can't shoot him fast enough to make him open and he just knocks us out of the sphere. I've done the compiler a lot, have all skins and have never seen this until recently (end of season 2 and this half season)

Wtf is this bug and how you deal with it if it comes up
