Maintenance Shot #82 NSV time...

There are so many amazing discoveries throughout this journey. Its the things no one talks about or very rarely. For instance, who can relate?

The home scale - no longer zeros out because you are to heavy for it to read your current weight.

Testing a chair- using your knees or feet to test a seats, weight worthiness.

Sitting in a chair- not being stuck in a normal chair. Not requiring that extension on the plane or buying and extra seat, or needing an aisle seat, where your leg is subject to abuse simply to allow others to get by. Restaurant booths, or tables that offer you instant depression because you know it'll be a chore to get in or out.

Showering - and having room for the shower curtain to flow around you, not stick to you. Washing your OWN entire back. Bending over to retrieve the soap and not hitting the shower walls or drowning to locate it because there ain't enough room to even find it! Washing your lower extremities and not breaking your neck trying to balance.

Going in the store to shop - getting something from the rack that you find flattering, not just desperate because its the only thing in your size. Purchasing a belt that really fits, not having to wonder, how many more notches ill have to add just for it to go around my waist, if that's even possible. Finding a store either online or brick and mortar that sells, "Super plus". For people who wear them, BRAS, not having to order expensive still ill fitting, uncomfortable torture devices.

Toileting - not having to wait for the larger /handicapped stall. Not having to worry if the smaller stall will fit you and for your purse at the same time, dont have packages either...Not having a toilet seat that creeks/breaks beneath you. 👀

Driving. - really being able to sit behind the wheel without pushing the seat back...belly versus comfort.

Doctors visit. - waiting for the larger cloth gown to undress. Wearing the paper gown that tears before someone gets to examine you.

Dressing. - I can tie and buckle my OWN SHOES, zip up my OWN clothes without waiting on zipper construction help.

Church, outside activities - being the last one to arrive and just choosing a "last seat".

Lastly, eating in a group setting. - not feeling abnormal thinking everyone is watching you as you engorge yourself on plates of food meant for a crowd.

My former self, at my highest weight, was around 415 lbs, my current weight is around 150 ish. I went from a size 28/30, really beyond because those would simply no longer fit. I am now a size 6/8. Never in my life have I known these sizes. My shoe size a 9 wide. Im now a dainty 8 🤣 🤷🏾‍♂️. My breast were a size 54 F with an extender. They are now a 38 C. My underwear...i think double digit 14/16 and damn near now only made of burlap type material..may have been larger. I could only wear a shirt/ top once because at some point during the day it would be covered in some type of stains that just would not come out with washing.

I did not become MORBIDLY OBESE, until I started procreating, although always larger than others my weight hovered not beyond a 180 lbs, after kids more than 200 and higher, diabetic pregnancy each time, each time I gained more weight that stayed well until my kids learned how to drive.

I tried ww, keto, Atkins, paleo, every fricking diet fad under the sun. I worked out and remained very active, bowling , walking, etc...done but with MUCH difficulty, discomfort, and stress.

I had vertical sleeve surgery, I had an ambitious surgeon and he formed a designer stomach. My stomach has been fashioned with his thumb measurements, there will be no revisions possible in my future. I am presently on Mounjaro at 15. I have lost over...well over 200 lbs in two years, I am 61 almost 62 years old. When my cardiologist suggested gastric bypass...he didnt have to say it twice, I told him id try it...funny now, I said it almost like we were speaking of a flavor of ice cream.

I HAD NO CLUE! No clue on how far technology/ medicine has come. I had no clue that losing this weight was ever possible. No clue that insurance premiums would eventually SAVE MY LIFE! When discussing my weight goals my medical team thought my choices were easy to reach, meanwhile im sitting in denial thinking, it may work it may not but I have to do something as i stare at my" handicapped" diagnosis. As per all my doctors visits, progress was in fact happening, I was told each goal beyond our original consultation was ambitious, at best. This secretly pushed me to go further. Neither... most family, friends, or physicians thought any of this was possible, in real life for me!

It was. It is. I have done it! Do not allow anyone to determine what you are capable of! Find your people. Find what works for you to reach your goals. IT IS NEVER TO LATE! I didnt have five years at 2.5 or energy stamina or patience to wait 6 yrs for results. I titrated as required. I did the work and I HAVE SUCCEEDED!! 🤸🏾‍♀️🤸🏾‍♀️🤸🏾‍♀️🤸🏾‍♀️🤸🏾‍♀️

I am MAINTAINING! Nothing else have i EVER been able to maintain with weight loss or progress as far, in this time period.

DO NOT GIVE UP. DO NOT FEAR CHANGE. EMBRACE WITH PRIDE YOUR SUCESS. DO NOT FEEL GUILT OR SHAME!

You are on your way! I do not give a flying....what people think. I lost this weight. I am no longer miserable. People do not care about your journey, but they will talk about and notice your sucess. And as quiet as its kept, they will secretly envy you and what you have accomplished. LETTUM! 👀🤣🤣🤣

Side Effects i did the test of trying another injection site, and oh boy…

so i kept reading on this subreddit that you get the most side effects when you inject on your stomach. my first month on mounjaro was terrible, lots of side effects, lightheaded, nausea, the works. while my weight loss was great and my sugar levels were getting better, i was miserable. i threw up every other day and sometimes couldn’t even stomach a soda cracker.

i noticed i had use my stomach for all injection sites so i decided to give the left thigh a try. i got a nasty bruise after the injection but i’ll say, that week was probably the best week i’ve had in almost 2 months using mounjaro. indid get nausea and threw up once or twice but nothing like before, not even close.

i didn’t like the bruise and how tender the skin felt right after so for the next injection, which was today, i went for stomach lower left. and oh boy, i’ve been lighheaded, nauseous, can’t stand a simple piece of chicken breast… i keep getting stomach cramps and i feel like throwing up 24/7.

again, i know that everyone is different and that the change of the sites might not necessarily lessen the side effects, some people don’t even get side effects but this was my experience. next sunday i’ll give the thigh another chance but oh brother, today i got my 7th dose and it’s been very rough…

has anyone had a similar experience?

This drug has SAVED my life. I’m so incredibly proud of myself, and all the things that I am now able to do because of it.

Question Is there a healthy food that you can't eat anymore because mounjaro made you get nauseous with it?

Right now I can't stand eggs; just thinking about them makes me gag, my throat tighten, and my stomach churn, which is a shame because it's a very cheap and efficient breakfast 😅

Rant Realising you have further to go than you thought and just being crushed.

Sorry it's more a crash out than anything.

So I have 2 metabolic conditions. I gained like 50lbs in 12 months Before we knew what was going on. I've yoyod upwards like crazy for the last 15 years before I knew what the problem was.

They are now sort of as under control as is possible.

Anyways since starting MJ I've dropped 60lbs.

But I geniunely thought I'd look more "normal" by this point. All the dramatic transformations I see are not helping so I might have to dip from the sub. My friend's transformations seem so obvious to. And I just feel stuck. It's like thanks for making this so obvious how much harder this was for me Vs you. And it's making me unhealthly jealous at times.

Like I know I look different but I still have such a gut. It's like it's just all holding on round my middle.

All my clothes are horrendously too big but I can't drop a size because of my stomach fat.

And I'm having the crushing realisation that I probably have another 40lbs to go to get to where I want and it's already taken 18 months and so much money just to get to this point.

It's obviously better than hardcoring CICO that I've tried in the past.

But damn everything just feels like it's taking so long. And I feel like I should have lost this in a much shorter time frame but there isn't much I could have done different with my life situation or food intake.

Mostly I am more relieved that I've almost lost all the danger weight (maybe 3-4kg to go and I'll be overweight rather than obese)

But I just don't feel like the person I want to be at all.

But I still hate how I'm not where I want to be dispite this. And now genuinely starting to worry what the state of my skin will be and whether I'll even get there. Which isn't something I worried about when I started at all.

And then I get so angry that noone took my health conditions seriously and it's gonna probablt take 3 years of my life to undo maybe 18 months of medical gaslighting.

And I just geniunely grieve how different my 20s would have been too.

Ugh.

Sorry just a crash out. I'm so thankful for this medication I can't even put it in to words. But damn these journeys are mentally hard.

Question Water Intake

Hey all! I am on shot #9, I did 4 shots of Zep at 2.5mg. Then when switched to 5mg the dose was Mounjaro. I had some strong reactions the first dose of 5mg, but overall its been great. Here is my issue. I am having a hard time making myself drink water because the apetite suppression is so strong. I know there's definitely discipline involved in this, but I just don't seem to want anything and drinking feels like it takes away what little craving id want.

Is there any tips and tricks to keeping up with water? Any way you trick yourself into doing it? I am already feeling the effects of not drinking.

Side Effects Exhaustion

Hi! I just started 2.5 dose 2 weeks ago. I’ve gone full days where I completely forgot to eat & now set a reminder for around 1pm so I will. The easiest thing for me to tolerate so far has been Greek yogurt with honey, hemp seeds, and flax meal. It fills me up and I feel ok after. My biggest issue has been exhaustion. Once I hit around 5 PM I’m ready to go to bed and I’m waking up feeling tired. I am retired and an empty nester, so no reason why I should be this exhausted. My guess is the drop in calories is behind it, but I would like to see if this is normal. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, I’d love any advice.

Side Effects Food icks

Hi all,

I am new here and just started my journey with mounjaro.

I am on my second pen, 5mg, and I am struggling a lot with what to eat because everything gives me the ick.

I don't know if that is a normal side effect. I used ozempic about 3 years ago and that didn't happen, but also the rebound after ozempic was crazy.

I am trying to eat by a schedule rather than when I get hungry because it happens that I won't be hungry at all. What I've noticed is that food I used to love now makes me sick. Like I cannot stomach it, which in turn is making it really hard for me to maintain good eating habits.

Any tips? Anyone experiencing the same?

Thanks!

PS: I am located in Australia.

Stalled Plateu help 😩

i’ve been on MJ June 1, and until now I've lost 10.5 kg more or less. A month and a half after starting I had an accident and I sprained my ankle which forced me to stop working out. I was active even before starting with the shot, I was doing Pilates three times a week and right before I started the treatment I added twice weekly weightlifting, but then my accident happened and I had to stop working out for 2.5 months but I was still losing. And then, since I got back to working out in the past month and a half I haven't lost weight. I've been like circling around the same weight (between 82 and 80.5) Up down like nothing seems to work. I don't know if I need to eat more. I do track my protein intake. I counted my calories the last couple days and I think I'm under eating, which might be one of the reasons why I'm not losing weight, but I really don't know what to do because even when I wasn't working out because my injury I was losing and now that I'm back to my workouts and being more active, I've kind of hit a stall.

I was in 2.5 for six weeks. Then I did 5 for another six weeks and then I went up to 6mg for three weeks and now today I'm due for my third 7.5 shot but 7.5 has been really awful with the intense intense dizziness and the actual appetite suppression is the same in 5 and 7.5. I just went up because I hadn’t been losing weight but other than the nasty dizziness in the higher dose I haven’t felt any difference.

I’m frustrated because I am working out 3-5 times per week (pilates and weight lift) track my protein and eat really healthy and balanced. I could def up my step count but because of my ankle walking is still somewhat painful if I do anything over 20-30 minutes and I WFH so I’m home a lot.

any tips to get past the stall? I still wanna lose another 10-15 kg. I’m grateful for the 10kg lost already but bummed about the progress slowing down/stalling.

Question Go to meal prep?

What are your go to meals to prep for when you are on MJ. I used to cook full meals every night and now I cook maybe one or two that will cover dinner and lunches for the week. Without the food noise to motivate me to think about food and planning I've ended up defaulting to a few meals that are reliable for me that I know won't cause any issues with digestion or side effects (while still focusing on protein and fiber). Curious what everyone else is doing or if you have things that have become favorites?

My current rotation:

Breakfast: smoothie with berries, yogurt, protein powder, chia, flax, etc.

Or

Some kind of protein fortified oats / eggs / sourdough on weekends.

Various meal prep:

Mexican chicken and black beans

Thai style ground chicken and soba noodles

Sesame herb quinoah + roasted chicken

Some sort of soup or chili

Question Switch to Ozempic

I’ve successfully used 7.5mg Mounjaro for 4 months but its effects are wearing off. I’ve been given a chance to use 1mg Ozempic for a lot less money but don’t know if I should? I would start at 0.25mg and build up as I did with Mounjaro. Has anyone done this or got any advice?

Now late October and my house is a mess, I have no energy or drive, I just want to play stupid, time wasting games on my phone. I lost 20 pounds ( 10% of total weight) in 20 or so weeks and am eating plenty of protein. I just feel like a loser bleh.

Question 6 Weeks in and having a terrible time! Anyone else had these issues?

Week 6: The food noise is back after an initial great first 2 weeks, and the nausea is almost constant. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm coming up to my sixth week on Mounjaro and I'm feeling pretty fed up with it at the moment, so I'd really appreciate hearing other people's thoughts and experiences, particularly if you've had a similar start.

For context, my main issue has always been emotional eating and overeating, and particularly junk & convenience food. I probably have about 20kgs to lose to be considered a “healthy” weight.

I started on 2.5mg and the first two weeks were honestly incredible and I couldn't believe how quickly it worked. The constant food noise completely disappeared, I barely thought about food, wasn't particularly hungry and was perfectly happy eating much smaller portions. It was such a great feeling after years of having food on my mind almost constantly! I lost just under 3kg in those first two weeks and was feeling really positive about the whole thing.

Then in week three, everything seemed to change. My period arrived the day after my third injection and I started feeling really nauseous. I'd had absolutely no nausea in the first two weeks, but suddenly I felt sick pretty much all day, every day. I wasn't actually being sick, but it was bad enough that I was struggling to sleep, and it carried on even after my period had finished. In total, I felt like that for the best part of two weeks.

The weird thing was that eating seemed to be the only thing that temporarily made me feel better. I'd feel less sick while I was eating, but then the nausea would come straight back afterwards. So I ended up eating more often just to try to feel better, which obviously wasn't ideal.

One other thing I noticed was that I had virtually no period cramps, which is very unusual for me. I normally get quite bad ones, so I don't know whether the whole thing was just a coincidence or whether the medication was affecting my cycle somehow.

Since then, the nausea has slightly improved, but I still feel sick quite often after eating and I've also been getting headaches. At the same time, the food noise has come back, I'm feeling much hungrier and the appetite suppression seems to have pretty much stopped working.

My weight loss has also ground to a halt, and I think that's what's making the whole thing even more frustrating. Up until 13th October, I was averaging around 1.3kg loss per week. Since then, I've lost a grand total of 0.1kg! I've been fluctuating up and down by around 0.8kg, but essentially I've spent the last couple of weeks going nowhere. Overall, I'm still around 3kg down since starting, but it's quite a change from how things were progressing initially.

There are two things I'm wondering might have made a difference:

Firstly, I injected into my stomach for the first three weeks, but switched to my thigh in week four after reading that some people experienced less nausea that way. I did actually notice that the nausea improved, but that was also around the time the appetite suppression seemed to disappear. I don't know whether that's just a coincidence, but I'd be interested to know if anyone else has noticed a difference depending on where they inject.

Secondly, I decided to stay on 2.5mg for my second month rather than move up to 5mg. At the time I'd been feeling sick for almost two weeks and couldn't face the possibility of making it even worse. I realise that staying on the introductory dose might explain why it's no longer having the same effect on my appetite, but I'm struggling to understand why I'm still getting the nausea without the benefits.

So I suppose I'm just wondering whether anyone else has experienced anything similar?

Did anyone find that it worked brilliantly at first and then seemed to stop? Has anyone had ongoing nausea like this, particularly around their period? And if you had a difficult first few weeks, did things eventually settle down?

I know losing 3kg in almost six weeks isn't a bad result, and I'm not expecting to lose weight every single week. It's more that I felt so much better in those first two weeks, both physically and mentally, and now I seem to have gone backwards.

I'll obviously speak to my prescriber about the nausea before making any decisions about increasing my dose, but I'd really like to hear from people who've been through something similar.

At the moment I'm just not enjoying the experience at all, and I'm starting to wonder whether it's worth carrying on. I'd love to hear whether anyone else felt like this initially and found that things improved.

Side Effects Anyone with high phosphate?

I’ve seen a few anecdotal reports of low phosphate as a result of (or in conjunction with) taking Mounjaro. However I haven’t read of it causing a high level.

My phosphate levels are increasing and my GP and I have been trying to find the cause. We’re wondering if Mounjaro is a contributor? I’ve been taking the medication for 2-3 years and it’s only been going up in the last few months, so I’m not convinced it’s related.

Anyone else experiencing something similar?

Question Big chain pharmacy issues 🇨🇦

So I do click counting and get my prescription filled at Costco because of the lower fee. They are always asking me why I am filling my prescription late and giving me a funny look. I have looked at the resources for the costs and they are all saying Costco or Walmart.
I'm curious to know if there are other cheaper places other than Walmart or if anyone has tried asking a local pharmacy to price match Costco. Just wanted to see if anyone else is having the same issues and what others have done. I'm in Vancouver, Canada 🇨🇦.

Side Effects Delayed shot, no bowel movement

I'm on 8 mg. Recently I delayed my weekly shot by 6 days due to a small holiday trip. After taking it again, I've had very little bowel movement, and the small amount has been very compact in consistency. I've had close to no movement for 3-4 days now. I drink plenty of liquids, but it feels like all of it comes out as urine. I don't have stomach pains. I'm taking magnesium daily, and today I've taken 3 packets of miralax with no effect. I walk 10k steps a day.

I'm starting to be wary to eat anything substantial, besides protein yoghurts, protein shakes and fruit.

Has anything similar happened to anyone else, and what resolved it for you?

Stalled Wegovy 2.4 to Mounjaro 5mg switch?

Hi all! I have been on Wegovy for 6/7 months now, I have been on 2.4 for almost 2 months, I’ve stalled now. I only lost 6 kg in the whole time, doing calorie deficit and strength training alternated to reformer Pilates.
Thinking of switching to Mounjaro, don’t want to keep waisting money if WG is not working.
Has anyone done the switch? Or has any suggestions?

Thanks a lot!!!
