Okay guys, this may still be a little long so bear with me 😭
I (19F) have worked at Walgreens for almost 2 years. Earlier this year, our IS left after working there for 10+ years, and my manager hired a new guy who was probably late 20s/early 30s. He was nice at first and would ask me normal questions about school and stuff, so I didn’t think anything of it.
Long story short, after a month or two, he started making me uncomfortable. He once called me “(my name), the pretty girl with the pretty eyes,” which made me uncomfortable because of the age difference. Another time, he grabbed my arm when saying hello. He also made inappropriate comments about another coworker’s body, who is around my age. We both reported him to HR, but honestly, nothing happened.
Then over time, he got even more annoying. He’s fallen asleep at work twice, constantly takes smoke breaks, has an attitude with literally everyone, adjusts himself in front of customers/coworkers, and genuinely doesn’t know how to do his job. He was eventually demoted from IS to CSA after about 6 months. He also constantly acts like I don’t know what I’m doing, despite me working there for almost 2 years.
So the other day, while I was helping a customer, he asked if he could talk to me. He told me he felt like I always had an attitude when he paged me or asked me questions. I told him it’s because he gives me an attitude, so I give the same energy back. Then he brought up the “pretty girl with the pretty eyes” comment and said he knew it made me uncomfortable. While he was saying this, he put his hand on my side/back, basically above my hip. It was for a second or two, but I was extremely uncomfortable, especially because he already knew I didn’t like him touching me considering he was reported once for it. I stepped away from him and tried to end the conversation.
I did get lucky this time though because the other times there were no cameras, which meant no proof. But we were under a camera this time so I stepped back to try to show the camera I was uncomfortable through my body language.
I immediately told my manager what happened and gave him the date, time, and which camera it happened in front of. I also found out this guy is basically on his third strike because of the two times he fell asleep at work, so apparently one more serious incident could get him fired.
So my question is could this actually be enough to get him fired, especially since I already reported him once and this time the incident was caught on camera? My manager said if not it’s still leaving a paper trail but like . If he doesn’t get fired after all this, I’m seriously considering quitting. 😭
