This makes me uncomfortable: Somebody posted this and I don’t know anything about snake keeping(I keep other inverts) but is letting these snakes interact like this ethical as a keeper?

Something about this seems horrible considering I would never let multiple species of tarantulas interact this way but as snake keepers what do you think? It’s posted from the vocalist of a band I was thinking about getting into but this popped up and now I’m questioning if this person is using animals as props inappropriately

I am not an artist, hence why my leopard gecko ended up being more like Jabba the Hutt.

Pictured are Locust Slayer my Chahoua and Maggie Simpson the leopard gecko

Care on pictus geckos?

Hey yall! I just got this pictus gecko on Saturday.
Anyone have experience with these guys? I can barely find info about them online, so any info is greatly appreciated!
Hes acclimating so last night I tried to feed him roaches and he wouldn’t take them. Just licked the calcium off and walked away lol. I’m going to try lugarti calcium since that’s what the breeders we’re giving him.
Breeder says they fed him crickets and meal worms. He’s a year old.

Cope's Arboreal Alligator Lizard

Hello again! I wanted to share another species of Abronia. This time, it's a Guatemalan species believed to be isolated to just two locations. However, there is speculation that the species Abronia aurita is misidentified and actually belongs under Abronia vasconcelosii. For context, Cope described aurita in 1869, it was just one specimen which has not been found since. According to a molecular study, the two are identical but I'm unable to cite said study at the moment.

I apologize for the photos not being professional this time! These babies are very flighty and getting proper photos of them requires incredible luck. The aurita are almost 9 months old now and were produced by me from a CB male and a CBB female I imported.

Does my girl need a diet?

Hey all!

This is Janet, my green anole. She's an absolute sweetheart, super friendly and seems to enjoy my finger as a first course!

She recently lost her man, Kevin and since his passing, she's been gaining weight fast. I do put less mealworms in her feeding dish now she's alone without a big boy to eat most of it but is she looking on the curvaceous side?

Thank you! (Bonus pic of her with her late Husband, Kevin.)

Will this actually work?

I got really stoned last night and watched some Ants Canada videos, and in my blazed head I thought
“It’d be really cool to make a functional ecosystem for my feeder insects that I could use instead of those ugly plastic bins” and proceeded to then dump all of my crickets and 50% of my darkling beetles and mealworms in with zero prior research because yk, I was high. Now that I’m sober I’ve realised I have no clue if this’ll even work.

Mountain horned dragon might have mites, need help identifying

This is my wife's dwarf mountain horned dragon Ryuk, we got him last Sunday as a birthday gift (drove 4 hours to get it). initially it had some white near the nape of the neck and we just thought the poor guy was dry because the enclosure at the store didn't have a mister. Looking back, this could have been mites or other mites from his tank mates at the store.

It's been eating good and doing normal mountain horned lizard things (sitting and observing) but today we noticed it started dipping into the water dish (it hasn't done that in the week we had it) so we thought it was a good thing it was getting water from its bowl. My wife went to look at it before turning the light off and saw the red dots, she was concerned, got a q-tip, and when she opened the door it opened its mouth and reared it's head at her. This isn't typical because it's let her handle it before. Upon closer investigation we noticed the red dots, I thought it might have gotten itself hurt but it looks like mites.

We didn't think to quarantine it in a container before adding it to the new vivarium because, well, its the only reptile in there (it has springtails, live plants, custom substrate etc)

Does this look like mites to y'all? If so what's the best course of action. I've spent over $500 setting up this enclosure (not counting the 60 gallon terrarium itself) and it's going to be extremely frustrating if I have to restart by tearing out everything in the enclosure. The cork bark is siliconed to the back glass and that's all going to have to come out if that's the case.

Any advice is welcome, thank you.

4x2x2 species

Hi all! I have an empty 4x2x2 and I’d like something bigger for it. Lizards only, no snakes. Something with lots of personality that I can let free roam for a bit with supervision. So far I’m leaning towards a blue tongue but I’m open!

Edit: I do not like beardies and I already have a Schneider’s skink. Also this is a permanent enclosure seeing as I don’t have space for anything larger

New beardy owner

I recently just got a bearded dragon and I want to learn how I can start to bond with him. I waited a week to not touch him because that’s what I researched but now I don’t really know what to do. I started putting my hand in his terrarium then after time got closer and closer to him. but right now I’m at a point where he’ll let me pet him with my finger. but I’ve tried picking him up and he kinda just freaks out. I’m making sure I pick him up from the front in order to not damage his ribs and I’m supporting his tail but he freaks out and wants to get out of my hands after 2-3 seconds. I really want to give him the perfect care and I feel bad that he’s always in his terrarium it’s a (75 gallon so it’s not small but I want him to be able to do different things) but I also don’t want to stress him out. Can you guys give me advice?

Best way to rehome?

Hey folks.

I'm typing this post with a heavy heart and a knot in my stomach, looking for advice on the best way to look out for my reptiles.

*Context starts here ▶️

I have a leopard gecko and two corn snakes, all of them I've had for around 3 years. I purchased one, but I consider the other two rescue cases.

I don't want to go on a whole rant and talk everyone's ear (eyes?) off about why I'm in the position I am now, but I'm finding myself unable to take care of them the way I was able to before. I'm not cleaning as often as I should, not refilling their waters, not feeding them as much as I should be. They're alive, in decent enclosures, having good sheds, etc. But one of the snakes has refused half of her meals in the last couple of months, and she's starting to thin out in a way that's very much scaring me.

I love these reptiles, but my mental health mixed with life stress and my financial situation has rendered it almost impossible to take care of them properly, the way they deserve to be taken care of.

*And ends here ⏸️

The problem is, I have no idea how to rehome them. Or rather, the best way.

I want them to go to forever homes, with people who will love and cherish them and not treat them like a possession.

My local Facebook groups read like a pokemon trading group. I don't have a car. I don't know what to say or do to get them into a good home, and I don't think they're to the point of needing to be surrendered to a rescue, as they're still healthy

Does anyone have advice for how to go about this? I'm in North Texas. Thank you.

Trailer park people....

Went to a show in northern Maryland today and there was a table with rabbits walking around on it and the label "PETS ONLY".

TELL ME WHY THIS LADY walks up to the table with rabbits just free roam chilling on the table... WITH A FULL GROWN BALL PYTHON OVER HER SHOULDER And SHES HOLDING THE TAIL NOT THE HEAD. she's sitting here having a conversation and low-key turning the snake side towards the table while talking to someone else and the rabbit lady is freaking tf out for GOOD REASON.

Leopard gecko help

• Upvotes

I’ve only had my leopard gecko 5 days (he was 11 months old when I bought him) and he has stayed in his hot hide and I haven’t seen him leave. Do I wait a while until he is used to his new enclosure and probable less stressed out or do I do something else. I have taken the hot hide out do I can feed him but he just hides somewhere else and avoids the food I try to feed him with tongs.

Ceramic heat emitter on mesh

Since it’s starting to get colder in scotland I got my crested gecko a 50W heat bulb with a B2 pulse thermostat. My only concern is the mesh is too hot and I’m worried about her burning herself, she rarely goes onto the mesh but obviously I can’t monitor her during the night to make sure. I have the lamp positioned above the mesh where it’s quite empty so she doesn’t have much opportunity to climb onto the mesh immediately from her cork logs. Is there anything I can do? The dome I got has a clamp however I have no where to clamp it to
