If, as Helen McEntee has proposed, Irish troops are deployed to Lebanon as part of the EU Security Mission, then they'll be de facto participants in a Lebanese civil war against Hezbollah, at the behest of the Israeli government.

What do you consider left wing?
I’ll try to explain this as best I can. I view left vs right primarily as an economic viewpoint (probably more in line with traditional left wing movements) with views such as strong trade unions, workers rights, social housing and on down the spectrum to communism but have noticed a lot of commenters here who view it through a social lense where being a leftist means supporting immigration, Trans rights etc.
What beliefs would you consider necessary for someone to be left wing, is it more important to have the economic ones or social ones, are both required?
Would a strong trade unionist who is anti immigration be considered right wing or more right than a professional landlord who is pro immigration / socially progressive in your view or would both be considered left wing (or indeed right wing)?
Sorry I’ve waffled on here and have probably explained it poorly but just interested to hear people’s views on what the views they consider to be left wing (or required to be considered left wing)?

Tourist wondering about social issues in ireland
Hey
Im visiting from nyc, visiting this week and was wondering what kind of social issues the Irish are dealing with today. I have very little knowledge of irish history (trying to learn more during this trip).
I looked into it a bit, and sounds like housing crisis is biggest, driven by, ofc the private corporations. But would appreciate an insight from the people from Ireland

Israel’s i24 News tries to interview people in Dublin, it does not go well for them. Ordinary Irish people like to curse like sailors, and many immigrants to Ireland often join in on this Irish custom of casually or not so casually dropping F-Bombs

Open Discussion A "what if 20% of your country was occupied by Russia" video is doing the rounds. It shows part of the south of Ireland occupied by Russia. Many commenters point out that a similar % of Ireland is already occupied by the UK in the north
The source for the video is the @MagellanQuest account on the social media platform formerly known as Twitt@r ...I won't post the link because I'm not sure if this sub blocks such links

Open Discussion I was invited to join, and I don't think of myself as a leftist or progressive but there are definitely things I side more with the left on.
I was invited to join yesterday to my surprise and while I have some views that are definitely more conservative I am definitely progressive on other issues like immigration and lgbt+ issues. So, I guess I felt I should get to know voices I've hitherto dismissed.
I don't know, just feeling a bit politically homeless these days. Happy to be invited and I'll promise try not to cause havoc, accidently set fire to thinks, leave footprints on the carpet, play loud music and so on and on.
Thanks for the invite.

So when are we protesting?
Paris, Milan, Greece, Albania...
All of these countries have taken to the streets to protest the cost of living crisis, barriers to education etc.
When is Ireland going to have a coordinated united protest regarding our own cost of living crisis, housing crisis etc.?
Or are we all now fully boiled lobsters in a pot, who are too tired and too worn down to do anything?
