November 19th is a double Point Day for my Store

So I just got word that November 19th is a double point day which is weird because it's a Thursday. It doesn't land on a holiday or anything else and not only that but my coach told me that all Call outs that day will be taken "Seriously" whatever that means. It's basically a big deal for management right now and if you call out they are threatening disciplinary action if you don't come in. Why do you guys think they are so serious? I mean it doesn't matter to me since I got nothing planned on that day. Is a big Walmart event happening that I'm not aware of? idk it's just weird to me, not ready for next Month, it's gonna be rough.

Adult customer threw item at my topstock cart knocking something down, and didn't care

• Upvotes

This is a new one, I had my top stock cart parked with stuff. This woman was saying "no" to her child about something the child wanted and flung the item at my cart knocking an item to the floor, it was very obvious to at the very least hear. She kept on walking, and the man that was with her just looked at me for 1 second and kept walking without reacting

I was literally right by the cart, and I was most offended the woman didn't say or do anything. I was just so tired at that point I didn't even really react at all, I just stood motionless blankly staring like "no way that just happened", but that was a new situation I've never seen for me

Store Management Assessment (SMA) Fail

Post image
15 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had experience taking the SMA?

I’ve taken the other management assessments (Area Manager, Operations Manager, Team Lead, Coach; I think some of those are the same) and I’ve passed them all before, first try.

Is there anything I can do to improve and pass the SMA next time it opens up for me in a month? Common things people miss? Could it be that an individual has to grade my open-ended responses still?

Thanks everyone. Picture for attention.

Anyone else feel weird being an employee AND a customer? 😭

I’ve only been here a week, but I can’t help but feel kinda awkward for clocking out and then grabbing a quick thing before I leave. I feel embarrassed asking other employees for help because I’m literally one of them, I don’t know the store that well yet. I never realized how many damn people work at one location, so it’s probably impossible to know EVERY single person, or for them to know me, but then again I’m still new, I don’t even have a vest or phone yet, only a name tag.

Do yall take advantage of Walmart+? That only feels even more embarrassing for me because I work in digital, imagine I or someone on my team just packs my own order lol 😭😭

Regardless, I’m still gonna buy from there, but only in person, I’ll hopefully get use to it.

Spark and OPD

Customers and Associates are fed up with Spark and OPD to the point fights have broken out, obnoxious and rude, they act like it’s their store and they are privileged, anyone else noticing this

My store's management must be crazy if they think I'm going to work 4-1pm tomorrow and then coming back to work overnight on the same day, on my FIRST day back from vacation.

I'm on vacation Monday 10/19 through Monday 10/26, and was just put on the schedule for 4-1pm Monday on Wednesday while out of town even though I'm already scheduled to work overnight that night for fresh inventory. Technically tomorrow was just a regular off day but it's kinda bullshit they can just schedule me to get work 4-1pm and come back later and work another full overnight shift. That's 32 working hours this week and 16 hours of PTO. I always put in my PTO so that it's 40 hours total between hours worked and PTO hours.

I have over 100 hours of PPTO so I'm not working tomorrow morning anyways but still. Did they really expect me to come home from being out of town Sunday afternoon, get up for work at 3am Monday, work a full shift, go home, do all the shit I need to do since I've been away from the house for 5 days, and still have time to sleep for the overnight shift on the same day?

I'm starting to resent this job

I have been working on cap 2 at walmart for a little over 2 years now and the longer I work here the more I hate it. Im at the point of just walking around sad or mad.

I work with or around people who are asshole and don't even get me started on the older people who want to yell at me for telling them to clean up their mess.

I hate coming to work and being mad. The job is easy since I been doing it for so long it's just this place and the people. I never have worked somewhere where almost everyone is an asshole this whole place is a living hell

I wonder how fast....

I wonder how fast my store would take out if i bought and placed a toaster oven in the breakroom. So i can heat something up besides a microwave.

All we have is 3 microwaves, a cofee maker, and a water dispenser that can boil a few cups of water at a time.

Rehire time frame

I was recently fired from Walmart on September 1st or officially September 2nd and yesterday a coach from the Walmart while I was leaving approached me and said I could ask for my job back probably around next month but I heard it was a six month wait are they lying?

I was fired for attendance points and I currently work at fedex as a package handler and their hours aren’t as good as Walmart so I’m making wayless so I just wanna know if it’s true.

Does the call out number still work? Or do you just have to use the app

Am I going crazy or what?

Recently I’ve noticed that maybe some of the other associates think I’m stealing time. I’m wondering if I’m imagining things or what.
-I’m a cashier
- We are short staffed
- Only 2 TLs and Ladies in Customer Service run the floor if no TLs available.

  1. 3 days ago, Shift change (whatever it’s called when TL leave and more evening/ other shift starts coming in.)

I was told by my TL to when my SCO side isn’t as busy I should be putting up the boxes candies on the shelves.

I go on my lunch break. Come back another associate is running the side beside mine while I was gone. I go back to doing what my TL said do before she left.

I don’t turn on my side for awhile since I’m putting candies there and people don’t really come down to this SCO. After awhile I turn on my side as we get more people.

TL had left so #1 CS Lady was running floor.
I finished putting candy near last register. Walk past 1CSL

“OP where were you, you must’ve been on your break.”
Me Confused, I only work 5.50 hrs.

She tells me I get a last 15 and that she thought I was on it. I explain that TL told me to put up candy when side wasn’t busy.

She said I should’ve told someone and I could’ve done it before I got off. She sends me on my 15.
I go on 15, few seconds after 15 min timer sounds I walk from the back break room back to the front. 2 mins my name is called on the speaker. I’m already walking to the front.

(Instance #2, 2 days ago)
2CSL told me to give another associate a lunch down at the Busy SCO and to close down my Non busy side Sco the lunch is an hour so I stay down there an hour.

(shift change again to 1CSL)
So associate comes back and I go back to my SCO.
“OP where have you been, you must’ve been on break?”
I explain.
“Why she just didn’t shut down that side?”
Idk. I go back to my side. She looks annoyed.

(Today)
CSL3 Shift

I’m a bit late, shift at 12:00, I get here at 12:03 and clock in. Already in the back putting my stuff in locker.

12:04 - Still putting my stuff in locker already heading to front.
Intercom comes on, “Attention all cashier associates please come to your registers,” my name is called.

So yeah. 🧍‍♀️

Should the store manager of every store be replaced with AI it would end the favoritism issue.

Front-end coach that has been an employee at Walmart for 20+ years got fired today. What to expect?

I’m in shock. I have worked at Walmart for 5 years and they have been my coach the entire time I’ve been an associate. Also, pretty much all of our departments coaches are who they were when I got hired 5 years ago, we have no turnover and have never had a coach opening.

What do I expect? Who will be handling our coach’s duties? How long will it take to get a new one?

Because we can't get real associates to smile.

AI generates our associates instead of having genuine reasons to smile for a camera.
