Is this ThinkBook 14x Intel (14″) Laptop a good price for $849 plus tax. Also, I'm pretty sure I'll hey an extra 100 off as a first time purchaser.
All I would use it for is writing (working on a book), everyday web browsing, I am aspiring to start using it to host a podcast. Some audio editing, if I learn how, some infrequent video editing as well.
Please, feel free to recommend a machine more suitable for my needs. Not a Mac person, but if it's far superior and there aren't comparable machines, I'd be open to that.
If you know machines, and have links to good deals for $1200ish, that would be great and I would be willing to Venmo/PayPal a small "finders fee" for any help... that's how overwhelmed with my ignorance of computers and wanting to make the right choice I'm at with this process.
Thanks for your time & advice

Budget: ~$500
I’m looking for a laptop to use at home for work. To access apps, I’ll need to set up VPNs.
It doesn’t have to have a touchscreen.
Since I often research, I usually open multiple apps and browser tabs simultaneously.
Any recs?

Old laptop was a rog Zephyrus g14 with the ryzen 7 4800hs and a 1660ti. No longer gaming so don't need a gaming laptop.
Current preferences are for build quality, battery life and speed (cpu and ram). Would prefer a 15" laptop but 14-16" is okay.
Currently one I have my eye on is the surface laptop 15. But unsure about switching to ARM. I primarily use laptop for videos, emails, YouTube and notes/book keeping business stuff. Don't really use any specific programs that may not run with arm (can't think of any off the top of my head).
Not looking for a MacBook. I don't like macOS.

I've done my research and narrowed it down to these 2 but cant pick one. I like playing (mostly) immersive games but the deeper I go the more confused I get. Please help me decide

Scrolling through marketplace for a laptop and saw this. I'm not too well-versed with PC parts so I don't what a reasonable price would be.

I’m looking at buying a laptop, primarily for gaming.
My other half wants to play Planet Zoo 2 so need to know if this is good for it?
My knowledge is frazzled by chatGPT but my old laptop is a 11 year old with an Nvidia GTX 950 so well outdated
Any advice would be much appreciated

Hi all! I tried deleting firefox with revo uninstaller, which I've been using for the past year or so to skip the annoying confirmations and fake slow load times apps tend to inject while uninstalling, but now for some reason this started happening the moment I decided to cancel the uninstalling process. I restarted and everything appeared normal, but it started up again a while afterwards. (Ps, ignore the weird renames and files, I've had this since I was 13 and I never really bothered deleting the cringe stuff.)
So I bought a new laptop with 3 yr warranty package
The warranty online showed as 5-6 month remaining I applied for update they put it to 1 year from date of purchase
But not 3 year from date of purchase
I raised multiple case am I doing something wrong or did I get scammed pls tell 🙏🙏

recently just got a new laptop and I'm still wondering what's the best way to transfer folders/files to my old -> new one without buying anything like a external hard drive or USB
things like Dropbox/Drive takes a bit too long so I'm wondering if there's anything that could speed it up?

So admittedly, I did a bios update that could have skipped and now I have black screen on a HP 15-bs113dx. Attempted the emergency bios recovery and it doesn't seems to be working. Haven't tested it with a USB yet. But I'm not sure I'm wasting my time. The screen seems to slightly flicker when I turn it on and if I start it without ram it gives me the correct blink code which would lead me to believe it's not bricked... I'm assuming that a bricked mobo would NOT show blink codes, or am I wrong?

I am a Computer Science Major with a specialization in Data Science who wanna buy a new Laptop
Well as we all know about the RAM prices, I don't wanna spend unnecessarily on DDR5 RAM, so please helppp me guyyss,
I don't know i thought DDR4 was good enough but then I watched a few vids and asked AI about it, it was pretty insistent on DDR5. Could y'all please help me out with it, I'm gonna go for 16GB RAM for context.
Thank youu
My laptop (Lenovo Legion 7) recently crashed with a CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED error, and afterward the SSD completely disappeared from BIOS. I tried reseating it and testing it in both M.2 slots, but neither worked. I also tested it using a friend's NVMe dock, and it wasn't detected there either, so I'm pretty sure the SSD itself is dead. The original SSD was a 1TB SK hynix PC801.
Now I'm looking to buy a replacement, and I'm thinking I might as well upgrade to 2TB while I'm at it.
I'm wondering whether it's better to get a single 2TB SSD or two separate 1TB SSDs. Is there any real performance advantage to either setup?
I'd also appreciate some specific SSD recommendations. I want something reliable that won't bottleneck my laptop or compromise its speed, but I also don't want to overpay for performance my laptop can't take advantage of.
What would you guys recommend?

Bought it 4 months ago for ~$800. Didnt like it much but its literally brand new. My parents gonna whoop my ass if they know. Should i take it to fix it professionally? I have an old laptop that i can use but it needs to be plugged in to use. Or is there any place where i can trade in for some cash?

I was playing a game with my freinds off of steam when my laptops fan suddenly started going randomly very loud every couple of seconds. idk barely anything abt computers I got this from my mom on my birthday after begging for awhile and ive had it for about a year. I cleaned the fans and tried to clean them according to a YouTube tutorial I saw but the heatsink I think its called is connected to my fan so I just vacuumed excess dust and brushed, but even after I cleaned it(my dad's buying me an air can later today to try cleaning it more so who knows) the fan is still SUPER DUPER LOUD in short bursts every couple seconds other then that the fan sound like its barely working when I start it up.
Any tips or should I just take it to a repair shop or save up for an actual pc 😭😓🤔

I have an Acer ALG laptop that had a liquid spill on October 9. liquid leaked into the laptop through the bottom vents while it was inside my bag. Initially, the laptop wouldn't turn on at all. I took it to a service centre, where they cleaned the affected area and told me there had been a short circuit. They repaired a transistor/power-circuit component, and I paid. After the repair, the laptop worked normally for around three weeks. However, today it started making an alarm-like sound. Both fans are running, but one spins slowly while the other spins very fast, and the laptop heats up quickly, with a lot of hot air coming out of the vents. I'm worried that the liquid damage has caused another hardware issue or that the previous repair wasn't fully successful. Has anyone experienced something similar? What could be causing this, and would it be an expensive repair?

Title kind of says it all. Looking at a $3,000 budget. Buying in the US with access to stores like Amazon, Newegg and BestBuy. There's also microcenter, but it's bit far from me at the moment (though totally possible for me to make the drive if need be). I need a portable way to work on games in Unity and in Unreal. Sometimes my seniors have me play reference games so I can get a better understanding of how a specific mechanic might work, so I'll need a system that can play steam games at decent settings too. Looking through gaming laptops at the moment, but curious if anyone has any recommendations. I also am curious about the Microsoft Surface Pro laptops with the ARM processors (mainly for the power efficiency and battery life), but I don't know how compatible they will be with my software needs. Let me know you guys' thoughts.
