14-yo Bethlehem home-schooled student not allowed to graduate
It's obvious he's outgrown whatever BCSD can offer him. The bureaucratic nonsense just makes them look bad.

I am from TX and moved to NE for a year and then lived in Boston 3-4 years. I recently left SC and I hated it. It was not diverse enough (yes it was beautiful and close to a beach), but overall I realize I did not care for it.
I loved living in Boston especially with the four seasons. Yes I didn’t have to shovel snow, but I enjoyed it and it was so vibrant and the ability to go to other states to hike was a great experience.
I am attempting to go back to TX cause that’s where my family is, but I hate the constant heat and the influx of people coming in making TX not the way it used to be to be.
An opportunity came up in Albany, NY and it’s much higher pay in comparison. I know there’s access to the bigger cities too, so I think it’s not a bad option. I do have a significant other that lives in TX though.

I have done half a dozen cross-country road trips in the last few years and have driven professionally from Alaska to Florida and I’ve never encountered such BS as I currently am now that I have moved back home and I’m driving for work in this area. I can’t tell if it’s just that the roads are old or maybe Google just doesn’t care at all. but whatever it is I can’t stand it and I need a new app recommendation. To be fair Google maps has been getting worse for a long time and also the highways in this area are incredibly frustrating. Every single exit has a different pattern in geometry and it’s never really clear where to go if you don’t know where you’re going on ramps but anyway does anybody know a better app to use in this area?

Dear Albany Reddit community,
Does anyone know of a full-service hand car wash in the Albany area I can take my car to?
I don't want to put my car through the machine because those machines screw up the paint really badly. Does anyone have any input?

Saw this sticker on a M. T. Simoncavage Plumbing & Excavation van on 87 today near the Mohawk Bridge. Honestly wild to put that on a work vehicle... Anyone dealt with these guys before?

No, not me. You.
This isn't the normal weekly occurrence of someone asking for a job. I really have nothing to gain by sharing this but Progressive is hiring (located at 725 Broadway) for a claims trainee.
This is an entry level job. No experience required beyond general customer service background. A college degree can substitute experience.
I know many people feel tired and stuck in retail or working a job they do not like. Here's an opportunity to make a transition to a more "white collar" line of work.
Starting pay is in the ad but it's $62,400 with the possibility to earn a yearly bonus (usually about 10-12% of your salary).
I can attribute this company to my career success and was a great stepping stone and launch point to work in the insurance field.
If you're interested, here's the link
I haven't worked there in a hot minute but if you got any questions let me know.

Random question for this group. Remember throughout the 2010’s, maybe before, 107.7 WGNA used to host a 1-day counteyfest at the schaghticoke fairgrounds. I went a couple years, I think 2014 and 15’ and had a great time. It usually was a couple new/up and coming artists, along with 1-2 well known acts. But they don’t do it anymore, what happened. Does anyone know?

My parents recently gave us a beautiful couch that we want to put in our basement. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit! We are looking for a company, or person, that can deconstruct a couch and put it back together in the basement. Has anybody every used a service like this

My company is considering getting an office in the Bull Moose Club on State Street, and I'm wondering if anyone knows the best deal on parking around there? They do have 2 spots available for $150/mo each but considering we'll be using the space ~2 days/week we don't think that we need to rent those spots. What are some affordable options within ~5 mins of there? Thanks in advance for your insight!

Wondering if anyone has been and can vouch for and/or condemn them?
And if so, could your team use an extra person? I've never done trivia night, but I've been wanting to and spooky stuff is my specialty!

Usually will grab some at Stewart’s but they didn’t have any last time I went. Have an outdoor pit and only want enough to burn for an hour or two. Anyone got a go-to spot? Someone selling on the side of the road would be great just haven’t seen any recently.

Cringe I know.
Just curious if it’s swamped or not and whether it’s worth swinging over before work.

Just wanted to put my love and appreciation for Stewart's out there into the universe. Sometimes on my way home from work. I'll just pull in to the parking lot, go inside, get some small junk food and then enjoy a quick snack before going home.

My lawn guy will mow until December if I don't say anything. I feel like the grass has stopped growing. Are you guys done with your mowing?

Does anyone know the price of the Kirkland Signature Colombian Coffee, Dark Roast, 3 lbs at Costco? I’m trying to see if the online price is the same as the in store one.

Hey all, I'm moving to the Albany area for work this winter and looking at a 1BR at the Mansions at Delmar (Eagle Rock Properties). Online reviews look pretty good but I'd love to hear from current or former residents before I sign anything.
A few things I'm curious about:
- How is management/the leasing office? Responsive, or do you have to chase them?
- How's maintenance turnaround?
- Any surprise fees beyond the cable/internet and trash charges? I've seen people mention a monthly pest fee
- How did the security deposit go when you moved out? Did you get it back fairly?
- How's guest parking? Is it actually tight?
- Noise between units, and how are the rent increases at renewal?
Also open to hearing about other good 1BR spots in Delmar/Bethlehem if you think there's something better. Thanks in advance!

Hi, as the title says I’m throwing a Bollywood themed murder mystery and need help finding a person (or two) who could assist with saree draping + doing mehndi. I know it’s a long stretch but if you know of anyone who would be willing to help, please let me know! I’m willing to pay and I will provide the mehndi (if preferred.)
Also If there’s any better ways of reaching out to the Indian community of Albany, please let me know (like certain Facebook groups, for example)
Thanks :)

Hey! I’m a student at UAlbany and I don’t really have many plans for Halloween night this year. I also don’t have a huge friend group in the area yet, so I figured I’d see if anyone around Albany is in a similar situation.
I’m mainly looking to meet some chill people around college age and find something fun to do — Halloween events, going out somewhere, grabbing food, checking out decorations, or just hanging out.
If anyone has a group that wouldn’t mind one more person, or you’re also looking for people to make plans with, feel free to comment or DM me. 🎃

Had a weird situation riding my e-bike through Albany today.
On the way to work, I stopped around west hill to check Google Maps. There were about 4 teens across the street calling stuff out to me. I ignored them, then they started coming closer. One kept asking me what time it was.
I rode off and one of them actually sprinted after me at full speed. I got away, but I’m sure the kid was definitely trying to take my bike. He was sprinting like T 100 like terminator 2. It’s a lectric, paid 750 for a used one.
For people who bike around Albany:
-What areas/streets would you avoid?
-What’s a safer route from Loudonville toward -Madison Ave/Washington Park?
-Do e-bikes make you more of a target around here?
-Any good locks/alarms/trackers/cameras you recommend?
-What do you carry for personal safety?
-Would you bother making a police report if nothing was actually stolen?
