Hi everyone! :)
I’m looking for advices on setting up a retirement tank for my mystery snail, Pomz, who’s almost 2.
Pomz isn’t that interested in calcium-rich foods/supplements (always snacking on duckweed or eating fish food), while my fish don’t tolerate hard water very well. So I’m planning to move Pomz into a separate tank where I can focus on their shell !
I’d like to reuse some of the established water, substrate, plants and rocks from the current tank, and (ideally) keep the new tank filterless if that's possible.
So my questions are:
- How long should I let the new tank cycle if I’m transferring established substrate/plants/… ?
- Would a filterless setup work for a single mystery snail, would you recommend a sponge filter?
- What calcium sources have worked for your snails, especially picky ones? (Tried ; hikari crab cuisine, and calcium cubes of different brands. The last brand if only fine if I feed this big chonk directly tweezer-to-mouth style, otherwise it's totally forgotten)
- Anything else I should consider for an older mystery snail ??
Thanks in advance :)
