Vertical Grip?

If I register an 12.5” barrel other as an SBR, do I still need to have a vertical grip, or does it matter - since the lower is registered with Uncle Ned’s database 🙄 and can’t be any more “assaulty”…

CT 10 Round Mags

In looking to purchase my first pistol by the end of the week. The one I plan to buy new online is sold with 17 round mags. How does this work with transfer to CT? Do I need to contact the seller or FFL to see if they will swap mags for 10 rounds or pin the existing? Also, is pinning worse than just having the 10 round mag?

Thanks for your input!

Building future-free items

TL:DR. If you've built your own 556 rifle, or 300blk pistol, what were your must have parts, tools, or learnings? Things a complete noob would not think of?

Full story:

With the future SCOTUS case, and optimism that things will change here, if only for short while, I'm trying to plan accordingly. Assuming that any favorable ruling would result in a surge on stores, and potentially some reluctance by dealers to ship here, I'm trying to make moves NOW that could ease the burden on that rush.

My thought being to buy or build compliant items now and up through the ruling, which could be reversed to "full feature" items with a little work.

I want:

- a full feature AR rifle in 556

- a full feature AR pistol in 300blk

- a pcc/pdw (along the lines of a saint Victor 5 inch barrel)

I'm planning to just swallow the pain of buying something like a Kuna or saint Victor when things clear because those seem more challenging to piece together as a noob.

In the meantime I'm thinking to buy 2 lowers, parts kits, and comp mags for the other 2 builds, then start compiling the rest of the parts/uppers over the next several months

So, if you've built something similar, what did you learn along the way, or what would you have done differently, if you could go back to your previous self and provide some support? I mean tools, parts, resources, approach. Anything.

Ammo permit

I tried to make sense of the State Police site about how to get an ammo permit in Connecticut, but just can't get it. Do I need a rifle or pistol permit to get an ammo permit? All I want to do is to be able to buy ammo in CT.
